I was thinking the other day, what if the new anime turns out terrible? How am I going to handle that kind of disappointment in my life?!? What are something that you hope will never grace the screen during this new show?

I really hope they avoid making the sailors look too young. I know they are supposed to be in the 8th grade, but they always looked older than that in the anime/manga. If anything i hope they bump up the ages...

1. = Toei's bad animations (nowdays)
2. = to many epsiodes

1. That not enough people will watch it and it won't be on the air for very long.
2. That it will try to appeal to today's kids/young teens too much and will look like it's just trying to be cool instead of glorifying what was the most amazing thing evarrrr
3. That it will be really stupid and that the public will redefine Sailor Moon as stupid as well
4. That it won't be as complex

I don't know, I'm just scared that it will be stupid and we'll get all excited over nothing. I hope it appeals to our age instead of being centered around younger girls. Then again, I guess its centered around younger girls today and we still love it

1) Toei re-using the crappy style they already used for all of the PreCure series.
2) That it will only be a fourth version of the dark kingdom arc, without any other arcs.
3) That it'll be 12 episodes long. (Compatible with ^ )

Zoisite and Kunzite might now be a couple. It would be upsetting to see them change them from lovers to something else.

1.The art style will look nothing like the manga and instead look like a cut-out shoujo series.

2.The theme song will not be anywhere near as good as Moonlight Densetsu.

3. They'll pander to the otaku.

1. theres not enough character development for the other senshi
2. that theres too much filler
3. that mamoru gets the short stick again (especially considering what toei did with him last time)

My fear is that we all end up hating it :/

I'm sure we all have these expectations we hope the anime meets (or exceeds). I hope that ultimately, we're not let down in the end.

Not that I think the new anime will suck or anything like that, but you never know with these sorts of things.

Other, lesser fears would be:

~ they don't redo the entire series
~ it's done in a poor manner
~ they play it to strictly little kids
~ it'll be way too short
~ that they'll make Mamoru not as awesome as he actually is all over again :/ (come on Toei, let's read the manga, watch some myus, watch PGSM, take some notes, and go from there)
~ they'll dramatically change the personalities of characters

You all have great points, but I think we should try to be optimistic about this! :3 I mean, regardless of everything else about it, it will still be the same storyline and feature the same characters that we all love, right?

I agree that we all have our own expectations of how we want it to be, but even if it turns out to be all of my most hated things, I will still love and enjoy it because Sailor Moon is dear to my heart!

That there won't be any filler. I enjoy fillers episodes. It adds to character development. I'm not saying we have to have a lot of filler. Just enough to help build on to the characters and the story. For example I like how in Classic it took awhile to find all the inners. Maybe shorten a little bit, but there should still be space. It makes it more realistic.

That toei make it appealing to all age ranges. Aka I want toei to remember the older fans.

Guys, Sailor Moon and its related media lasted from 1991 to 2005 thats a 14 year streak of pure win. Even when things were "not as good as others" they were still pretty damn good! I'm not worried, whats more worrying is if they attempt to redo it straight from the manga, instead of trying to make it its own thing.

Radically character changes:

Massive change to Rei Hino in original anime, nobody fussed. No one hates her right?

Live-action: subtle changes to all major characters, everybody loves them.

Way too short:

Liveaction series: 49 episodes
Anime series: 200 episodes
Musical series: 12 years

Sailor Moon does not know the meaning of "too short", the only risk is if Japan is simply no longer interested in which case it probably will be cut short.

Bad theme song:

Personally I love Momoclo at the moment ._. so they can't disappoint me but nonetheless if you don't like there music: how many songs for the series have they made, even if you exclude the anime: Otome no Policy, Tuxedo Mirage, Moon Revenge, Moonlight Destiny. Please do not judge Momoclo on that one live event. Maybe Naoko will even write it like for PGSM or Sailor Star Song!

Sailor Moon is such a solid wonderful story, it is incredibly hard to do it "wrong". That is if you're in a professional position supervised by other people. There have been some pretty damn shoddy fanstuff o.o


If there is anything to worry about, it will be attempting to cater to old fans who want thins to be like the original series. Sailor Moon isn't about us, guys, its about making Sailor Moon for a new generation right? s I doubt we won't enjoy it, the only people who won't enjoy it, in my opinion, will be closed-minded fans who were only interested in the original anime to begin with and never bothered with PGSM or Myu just because they assumed it would be bad.

Good points Miki!! I hope the anime does something new as well. Perhaps give more love to Mako?

Hmm... that's a good question, with the four main versions, everyone has had a chance as "Usagi's bestie"... Minako in the manga, Ami in Myu, Mako in PGSM and Rei in the original anime. Who's turn will it be next? Minako again? I think PGSM was pretty balanced although Makoto got a bit more than the others, it wasn't as dramatic as the others, so maybe more in this version to share it out?

Mako in PGSM? I thought it was Ami. Then again Mako and Usgai were friends right off the bat in PGSM.

Well in the beginning, yes, but after the first couple of episodes, Ami kind of dropped off into her own little storyline and Usagi and Makoto became the yay pair. I mean, the Dark Mercury arc happened but alot of the time, Ami wasn't even there during it, sometimes Dark Mercury would just appear and have to remind us that she exists and it would be like "oh yeah" and by the mid-series after the issue with her Mother, Ami was completely done with her PGSM story. While Makoto was very consistant. Unless something was directly about Ami, she wasn't really in the picture. Rei was the one, I felt got the boot in PGSM.

I thought Minako did because she was rarely there. Yeah she was acting as the fake princess and had the illness, but I wish she got to hang out with the others more often. :/ I think we're getting off topic. XD

well yeah minako wasn't part of their group but she still had a big presence, she was just shown doing other things. Rei however, was there, but not really there compared with Ami and Mako

I agree with this. Honestly, I'm kind of afraid of things not changing at all and everything staying the same from the original anime. Even though the main storylines themselves won't change, I would be beyond thrilled to see the new anime take its own little spins on stuff the way Myu and PGSM did and the way the original anime spun off a bit from the manga.

I guess, going along with that, my other fear would be stuff from the manga not making it into the anime yet again.

I'm a little worried they may try to make it too modern...if they make it TOO modern than they won't appeal to the target audience which is like an average of..22 years old?

I hope they don't over use slang but, we may not have that issue with the subs..if they do a dub in the future...well...we may have that issue...

Also I really hope the animation is good, I don't want that stereotypical anime eyes the size of jupiter XD, thing going on.

Honestly...compared to the original anime from the 90's..I hope they don't change too much..but, I guess we can start forming REAL opinions once some promotional stuff comes out and we can get a glimpse of what the anime will be like

I hope they do modernize it with the use of smartphones and updated fashion styles. I'm afraid of the following.

1. Toei will make it too short.
2. The outers won't get enough screen time.
3. Saturn will be jipped again.
4. Bad acting
5. A bunch of unrelated bs or a cancellation because old fans won't watch it enough and it won't get enough hits.

I'm with Miki on this one. I mean, PGSM didn't do AS WELL as expected, but its still DAMN amazing. If Naoko has some input in it, I don't think she will let her series get a shoddy treatment.

my biggest fear is that they f*** up with mamoru again. c'mon, mamo-chan in pgsm and anime? ALL THE LOVE

the voices in english will sound bad/the music will be aweful/ messing up pluto (skin color & otherwise)

Oh I would like to see Pluto's skin toned properly in the new anime. She was so white washed (or should I say Japanese washed?) at times.

I also fear to see Pluto's sacrifice if the anime gets that far

Not because I don't want to see it. Because I really really really do, it's my favorite scene of all Sailor Moon.

maah .. can they just give the rights to kyotoani and they will be make an awesome movie instead of a precure/toriko quality series.
i mean look at this: the animation is extremly smooth (i talk about the animation, not the drawing style thats two different things) ..

Talk about a bit of a spoiler if anyone hasn't seen that anime (me lol)

I'm worried they'll make it really short, like, standard 12/24 anime series length now. It wouldn't be too bad to cut out one or two filler episodes but if they remove ALL of them... it just won't be the same. The fillers add so much to the character personalities and interactions :c

Also, the personalities, and the relationships between the Senshi, I'm worried they'll change.
And maybe even take out the relationship between Kunzite/Zoisite and Uranus/Neptune. Then again, it was in there back in the 90s and no one really had any problems with it, and Japanese society as a whole is "more liberal" now apparently so I'm guessing they'll keep them in...

I'm worried about the art style as well. I hope they don't make it look too uguu-moe-blob-cutesy. The original anime had such a distinct style, especially with how they eyes were drawn. I really hope they don't just resort to making everyone have big cute eyes like in K-On and more recent Magical Girl anime...
Not that moe is bad, I love moe, but... yeah, I just don't think the moe blob style would fit something like Sailor Moon...
