< Y-you can't just destroy the Galaxy Cauldron! > Callisto couldn't believe the plan Ribbon had come up with. Did she not understand the magnitude of what was behind her? 

< Chaos will not care how hard you believe, this place is more sacred than just us senshi! It is unfortunate that others could not be saved from its influence, but it will take more than one explosion to truly defeat Chaos. This will only weaken what little chance we have left! > This war had taken so much away already, and if Ribbon was going to do something rash, she would not stand there and allow it, friend of Nocturnus or not.

< Just... trust us! Trust that we can end this, it's our job! > she begged.

Ribbon's brows furrowed, ready to refute Achelois's Claims, but was thrown off by Achelois's mention of Blade, her cheeks reddening - Blade was not given the same chance she was! - and so stayed silent as she halfway-listened to the blonde's words, and then those of the oth-- concern flashed across Ribbon's face as she took in Callisto, so different now than she had seen her on Leviathan. Not only damp, but her attire was tattered, her helmet gone. She examined her, and then the others, as Callisto spoke, though noticed that none of them seemed nearly as beat-up as Callisto did. Maybe that was why Callisto's words stuck with her more - Achelois was angry and wasn't considering anything that she had said about how people could help the senshi that remain, or how those creatures touched by Him would probably either disappear or go back to normal when He died - Callisto, on the other hand, sounded upset but reasonable. 

< But He'll kill you! > she insisted, < He probably already knows you're here - he's probably biding his time, thinking of how quickly to do it; I don't want that to happen! > She was looking at Nocturnus now. 

They weren't understanding her -- or maybe, she didn't understand them... < If this place is the source of all life... > Ribbon repeated thoughtfully, < Then destroying it would not just mean the end of all senshi being reborn, but the likes of Him being reborn, too, right? Wouldn't that be worth it? > Her crook glowed brilliant purple, < Wouldn't that be real peace? The end of all suffering? >

There was nothing he could say when Ribbon and Achelois started arguing back in forth, Oberon looking and listening, but as silent as the tombs outside. Ribbon was emotional, too much for him perhaps, in a way that he wasn't sure how to reach out, in fact, he didn't know how to reach out to any of them. Most were new souls, splashing about in life with the intensity of three suns, blinding for someone like him whose light was dim though eternal.

He blinked.

< There would be no peace. >

He lowered his blades. Achelois was right. Callisto was right. In a way, perhaps even Ribbon was right, even if it wasn't the path she should think about. He felt a cold kind of sadness about all of this maybe, a tiredness, certainly, but why stopping now? There would be peace to have home when this here would be done.

< What you are describing is emptiness in its purest form. Happiness, the way you can so strongly feel it, is not a sentiment any would ever live again before long if this place was to crumble only to rid the universe of him. Emptiness was never what pushes people to struggle for a better future. What comes without darkness, also comes both without life and without light. What does peace mean then? >

He tilted his head, focusing on each dot's emotions he was very much living off by proxy.

< If the Cauldron disappears, nothingness will remain in the place of everything you are fighting for right now. > Without looking away, he tapped into Nocturnus' feelings and emotions, sending them forward through the link so they would reach Ribbon. < Is he worth your friend's future? >

< He will die. Let us make sure of it and unburden yourself. Someone, I think, needs you alive more than he. > He said, tilting his head innocently in Nocturnus direction, looking still at Ribbon. < Keep her safe. >

It was madness their plan. If the woman destroyed the Cauldron then no senshi crystal would be reborn and Chaos, temporarily weakened from the attack would eventually regain its strength while the side of good would be severely weakened. There needed to be a balance of good and evil in the universe and without the Cauldron....how could she make her see that? Not wanting to bombarded the poor girl more than she already was, Sedna chose to keep quiet for the moment.

The conversation flew across the mental link, so quick that Nocturnus barely had time to keep up. The tension in the room mounted spectacularly; even to someone not privy to the conversations behind had in silence, it was clear that something was going on, even if it was only the moment before someone made the first strike. Her eyes remained fixed on Ribbon, noting the sorrow there when the young woman made an act of turning to face her angrily. That mist... it had swallowed the starlight the sailor soldier-in-training had created; she couldn't see what lay beyond. Perhaps that disguised the path to the "Him" that Ribbon mentioned—the current source of this Chaos-guided evil.

Having the Galaxy Cauldron destroyed, and ending the cycle of life and rebirth across the universe, was not a decision that she could agree with. The end of everything... That was not peace.

She couldn't believe that was their only choice. They were sailor soldiers. They had to use their powers to protect everyone—to save everyone. She thought of her mother, endlessly pushing back against the dark forces of Sarastro. This balance of Light and Chaos was Nocturnus's conflict, something different but no less important. Perhaps more so, as it was fought on a much grander scale. Even if it wasn't always possible, she wanted to save everyone. That was the highest goal and truest purpose she could have right now. Something bigger than simply finding her way home. Those emotions of hope for the future were what she unknowingly sent to Ribbon when Oberon amplified the young girl's feelings.

Her eyes were still focused on the glow of Ribbon's staff as she took a small step forward. The star-shaped charms on her dark uniform sparkled glints of gold in the dim light.

"We have to do this," she said, doing her best to withhold the trembling in her voice.

< Everything out there... they all deserve a future. So do you. > The message via the mental link wavered slightly, and Nocturnus took a deep breath. She didn't know what was going to happen here. Ribbon had said that she wouldn't hurt her, but maybe she wouldn't have a choice. How much time had elapsed with this conversation?

< I can't leave without you. >

"Even if that means you'll have to shoot me," she winced internally.

She had remained silent ever since they discovered it was Ribbon, watching the conversation go back and forth, but panic slowly mounted as she heard what Ribbon’s plan was. That was not the solution and they all knew it. To sacrifice the entire world just to end evil wasn’t the answer. To no longer have a future for anyone wasn’t happiness or peace. She knew Ribbon was desperate, but if it came down to it, they would have to stop her. She hadn’t fought so hard, gone to the end of the universe, just to have it end this way.

< This shouldn’t be the choice that you have to make, > she added once Nocturnus finished speaking. < This shouldn’t be your burden. >

It should never be any one person’s choice, to have that many lives on the palm of their hands. She didn’t understand the whole good and evil and balance and what the universe was truly made of—to be honest, it all went over her head. But she knew one simple thing for sure, and that was that Achelois would never walk away from here while the one who had taken someone very dear from her still lived. And that faith was enough.

< Give us a chance to prove that we can defeat him. You’ve been with us before, you know we can do this. You know there’s no way we’ll let him live. We’ll get rid of him once and for all, whatever it takes. Either way, this shouldn’t be your burden. We’ll take it from you. Have faith in us. >

There would be no peace?


Ribbon's drive weakened, then strengthened again - the wars could stop. Without reinforcements it would only be one or two people allied with His cause against an entire planet and potentially any Senshi left there. The chances weren't terrible that they could be defeated without this cauldron thing. ...but then Oberon continued, and she started to understand what he meant. They were thinking of the future - the far future, the one meant for the next generation after those who would survive this war. At his prompting, rather than the fear and confusion she felt, an onrush of hope filled her. Nocturnus's hope. Her eyes moved slowly, as though against her will, to look at the dark girl whose uniform shone in the light of her crook staff, and more started falling into place. If this place were destroyed and they were right, and no new life would come, eventually Nocturnus would be left all alone, and she couldn't handle the thought of that. Nocturnus was brave and honest and good - she didn't deserve to be alone.

Keep her safe. 
Ribbon couldn't see properly, the light reflecting off the golden baubles of Nocturnus's outfit started to swim before her. That's what she had been trying to do. She wasn't good in a big fight; she couldn't really help them, and with her there they were only a bigger target. The best she could have done was to do what she did - to serve as a double/double agent and try to take him out herself, one-on-one, when he least expected it. But if they hadn't showed up, if they hadn't told her, she would have been the cause of Nocturnus's unhappiness, let alone everyone else's. Maybe if he had chosen any place but here, she could have protected them. She could have saved everyone without that much of a loss. 

[...] They all deserve a future. So do you. 
Nocturnus... but... 
I can't leave without you. 'Even if that means you'll have to shoot me.'
She couldn't - she never would -- Ribbon powered down immediately. Nocturnus couldn't think that she would actually try to hurt her!

Andromeda finished off any argument she had left. Ribbon lowered her staff, the crook pointing to the floor. < I was trying to help you... > she trailed off lamely, as she dropped her staff completely tossing it so it clattered to the floor beside her. < I didn't mean to -- >

Ribbon screamed as she was thrown across the room, but the sound stopped abruptly as her body slammed into the wall to the right of the back; while out of direct view, they could hear the blunt sound of her body hitting the solid surface solidly. 


"Now, Ribbon," a silky voice, calm and low like the purr of a panther, resounded in the chamber.


"RUN!" Ribbon choked. "Noctur-" her words ended in a muffle. 


Tsking sounds echoed, "You didn't tell me your friends had come for a visit. How rude."


From the opposite side of the room from where Ribbon disappeared, from the wall to the left of the throne, emerged the beautiful man they had seen on Enyalius, walking tall and easy, striding into the room with his eyes ahead, obviously on Ribbon until he passed the first column and came completely into view. Then he turned to face them with a striking smile. He would appear different in each of their eyes, his features altering to fit each beholder's ideal of perfect beauty, even if that meant imperfection. The only constants were his gender and his height. In his left hand, glowing faintly, was the Enyalius Crystal. They could hear soft whimpers from where Ribbon had disappeared.

"Welcome to my home," he greeted, "Have you come to die?"

Jasper tagged along behind Sailor Light, serving to shadow her movements in the interests of keeping her safe. The forest might have held dangers other than the flames, such as any vengeful spiders or other bizarre beasts. The water held nothing for them but danger, and so the soldier would not look at it beyond what was necessary to assure that Light was in no peril.

"Yes, I'm sure they were strong.. one of them carried a spear, and had a pleasant personality. She was every bit as tall as me, and carried herself with confidence." He continued to walk behind Light, using her posed question as a springboard to further probe the pockmarked stretch of memories in his head. The girl he was thinking of had a name that began with 'Bell.'

Bella..? Wasn't that a protagonist from a vampire-themed novel? No, maybe it was only part of the name. Jasper was very close to remembering the sailor soldier's identity, given that he did catch her hand and stop her from falling into the dangerous river.

"I think they were whole. If we can find them, then they can help point you back in the right direction.."

She heaved a sigh of relief when Ribbon powered down, but it didn’t last long. A split second later the girl was thrown across the room, startling her.

And finally he appeared. The man she remembered seeing on planet Enyalius, the man whose beauty was out of this world and unnatural. He was definitely the most stunning face she had ever seen, which she had to admit gave her a pause for about a second from the sheer surprise of it.

Though hurt, Ribbon seemed alive for now, and as long as the group kept this man’s attention, she should be okay. She suspected Nocturnus might also get her to a safe place if it came down to it—it seemed the two had a bond with each other.

Her gaze switched towards the Sailor Crystal in his hand. This must be what belonged to the person that Achelois loved—the person that she loved that she could not remember right now.

Anger bubbled up to the surface, and before she even knew it, her Chrome Blade had flown through the air toward the nameless man.

Ribbon powering down was a relief, but it also only meant their own struggle was just beginning. Ribbon wasn't the one they had come to fight against, now at least they would be able to go on without hurting the young girl.

Not that a certain someone seemed to agree with this plan. When Ribbon flew through the room, he called Oberon Shields on both the small girl they had tried to protect and Achelois who had lost hers. They were the reason Ribbon was stalled here and he didn't want for her to be killed. If he could control more than his own life, he would stop watching allies die around him.

So this was him.
The one Ribbon was so afraid of and Achelois so angry against.

He had seen him shortly while on Enyalius, but as he turned to them and smiled, Oberon was persuaded it was the one they sought. Only a manipulative creature of sort would appear so familiar to his species and yet work for darkness. Oberans were peaceful creatures despite being vain and none of them would end up being like this man.

He was incredibly beautiful. But he doubted it was as striking within. Much too alien.

He raised his blades back when Andromeda's anger sparked in his mind, ready for the fight, but preferred not to copy her decision to attack right away.

When some unknown force tossed Ribbon's body to the side, Nocturnus called forward, reached forward, wishing there was some way she could have stopped it.

"No, Ribbon!"

She knew that the other girl wanted to help. She understood that same feeling—the desire to be of use to a group. How many times had been been among these other sailor soldiers, surrounded by heroes, unable to do more than avoid becoming a target? The longing to participate and to be an equal—even when understanding the reality of one's own limitations—the child soldier knew it well. It was only that Ribbon lacked the knowledge of Chaos. Sailor Nocturnus herself had known nothing of that terrible type of evil until she arrived in Crystal Tokyo and heard the tales. The Electromagnium woman was only trying to do the best she could with the information she had.

Nocturnus ran in the direction of the pink-haired woman's impact even before she realized her feet had started moving. She didn't know what might be lurking in that mist that removed her friend from her sight, but she didn't care. She barely registered the man, clearly the "Him" Ribbon had spoke of so many times. His beauty, amazing as it was, could do nothing to distract the young girl from her current focus: find Ribbon. Save Ribbon.

She didn't consider any of the potential consequences. There was only one thing on her mind.

Light hummed when Jasper described "Bella." She sounded like a capable person, though Light mentally confessed that she only could now recall what a spear was. It seemed she could grasp concepts as they came to her, but people like Jasper and "Bella" were always unfamiliar to her.

She suddenly became frustrated with something the dark soldier said. She kicked a rock into the river with a loud grunt.

"I don't want them to find me! I want to find them. After all, if we're heroes on a mission, it was our duty to stop whatever was going on here, not for people to save us. And now, I can't even remember why I came. Still, this place feels familiar... I'm not sure if this is my first time here. I don't want to say that it's home... but it sort of feels like home. What a sad place to call home. Did I live a sad life? That'd freaking suck."

She gritted her teeth and turned to the only person she knew with clenched fists.

"What if there are people out there who know us, Jasper, and we can't help them right now because we don't even know who they are. I want to kick whoever decided to get rid of my memories! How can I be a hero if I don't even know who I'm supposed to save!"

Callisto kept her breath held as Oberon and Nocturnus did their best to wind Ribbon back down, and released a sigh when she powered down. It was going to be alright for now... Callisto jumped when Ribbon was thrown across the room and silenced, and then the man they had been chasing arrived.

She could see the Enyalius Crystal in his hands even now, and though Callisto could tell he was almost inhumanly attractive, she did not find herself swayed by him in the slightest. This must have been the Him Ribbon was so afraid of. 

When Nocturnus ran to check on Ribbon, Callisto hesitated and then followed after her. She didn't know what lurked in the shadows, but she wouldn't allow them to get hurt.

"I can't remember anything of your past life.."

Jasper met the frustrated gaze of Sailor Light, breathing deeply as he faced her with conviction. They were going to get out of this mess, one way or another. In order to make that possible, they needed to work together and cover one another's back.

"Start by saving yourself. I think the tragedy we came here to prevent could have been avoided if the woman at the center of this mess had not disregarded her own safety in some vainglorious attempt to protect those closest to her heart."

Jasper didn't want to overload Light with details while they were still struggling to remember. More recent events burned brightly in his mind, but important pieces of context were missing. If he had felt such disappointment towards the unfathomably strong senshi that he remembered as 'Enya,' it revolved around the circumstances in which they had made personal sacrifices for their friends.

Or perhaps it was the fact that she had insulted him to his face, hyperbolized his intentions, and then went on to suggest that he was being too confident in his own abilities. Funny that she ended up committing the same lapse in judgment that he was accused of mere days ago. To make matters worse, her own senshi powers only amplified the consequences of her failure. Perhaps, in the long run, Jasper's own lack of a Sailor Crystal made him more flexible and capable than these vaunted galactic guardians.

Jasper reached forward to take Light's clenched fists into his hands, gently holding them out from her chest as if to pantomime a boxer's stance held by one who was prepared to fight the horrors and cruelty of the universe. "When you are strong enough to defend yourself, then you have the leisure to start looking after others."

Bellatrix came back to reality with a gasp, as she fell to her knees, spear clattering down beside her. No. No, no, this was not supposed to happen. She was supposed to be over this. She had control now. All that work, all that meditation, and she still lost herself when things were at their toughest.

Now, she just felt exhausted, and sad.

Slowly, she got to her feet once more. She looked to her only remaining companion, and was thankful to see that Sailor Mercury did not appear to have been harmed.

"I'm sorry," Bellatrix said, unable to look at her properly. She glanced around instead, feeling out of place, feeling ashamed, and lost. "What do we do now?"

It was then that she remembered. "Sailor Mars! Is she still in the water?"

How were they going to help her? Was Mars going to be killed by the water just as Leviathan and Shadow had been? What could they do to help, without suffering the same fate?

Perhaps unfairly, Bellatrix looked to Mercury for answers.

Sailor Light's face fell when Jasper suggested this tragedy was brought on by someone who tried to sacrifice herself for the sake of others. She wondered what exactly this meant and how to could have possibly lead them to this place.

"But why? Why would anyone do something like that? Wasn't there another way?" she asked, completely unaware that she had literally just made that decision.

Light blushed when Jasper took her hands into his own but mellowed out when she realized what he was doing. She kept the fighting stance and actually threw her right fist forward. A small burst of harmless water popped magically from where her fist ended. She initially smiled at this but frowned when she realized that magic tricks wouldn't help her now.

"I don't think I'm physically strong. I think I'm a trickster. I think I use illusions to confuse and fool my enemy. But how can I use my illusions if I have no memory of things to pull illusions from? I guess I could go invisible but that's it."

What kind of power did this man have if he was able to throw someone without touching them? Reading her halberd, she followed Nocturnus with the intent on using Oceans Grace on Ribbon when she came into her line of sight.

Healing! :

She watched the two ice blocks sink beneath the water, and then was forced to duck again as Bellatrix took another swing at her. And then the senshi's knees collapsed, and she seemed to come back to her senses.

"I-it's alright..." Mercury said, still trying to wrap her head about what was going on. Apologizing wouldn't fix anything, and she hadn't been hurt. "Just try not to do... whatever you were just doing without a warning." Her attention was brought back to Mars, and she tired not to look as incredibly worried as she felt inside.

"We're...we can wait for a minute and see if we get a sign of her. Mars isn't the type to give up without a fight." She had to believe that Mars was swimming back up right now, or she wasn't sure what she'd do.

Why, indeed? Jasper had some difficulty making sense of what would have driven 'Enya' towards such a seemingly selfless sacrifice. Perhaps she knew more of what exactly was happening, but may have expected a different outcome than her corruption. 

Jasper watched Light hold the boxing posture for a few moments, holding signs of mixed emotion when she frowned. Was he helping or harming her disposition? His eyebrows raised when he saw the small burst of water from the end of her fist. 

"I'm not an expert on creating illusions, but have you tried shaping one yet? Perhaps you're more capable than you think. That seems more interesting than the limited things I've learned to pull off."

Maybe Jasper wasn't so capable after all. In the corner of his memories, he recalled growing in strength under the influence of some malevolent sponsor. During those early days in his memory, he had worked towards malevolent schemes that would have solidified her dominion over the Earth and its surrounding systems.

Jasper wasn't sure how it happened, but a small part of him felt glad that none of those schemes had come to pass. His only evidence hinting at the fall of the Dark Kingdom was the apparent differences in strength that he perceived between his current and past selves.

Sailor Light pondered Jasper's thoughts for some time. Was she really more capable than she thought?

It was a void that she could hardly comprehend. Of course, it was impossible for a person to be born with an understanding of things, yet not be able to have personal memories of her own. This paradox plagued her thoughts. She knew that she was a sailor soldier but at the same time she didn't quite know how.

What did she know? She knew that she woke up on this strange place... and she knew Jasper. That was it!

She twirled her finger and then spun around in a circle. Upon finishing her spin, she used Leviathan Illusion to form an image of what seemed to be a mirrored copy of Jasper himself. She laughed in pride and posed with her hands on her hips!

"Look, I can turn into you! Or at least look like you! I bet people couldn't tell who the real you was like this!"

As the blade flew towards him, the man disappeared, teleporting easily out of its trajectory and then right back into place. "Andromeda, is that any way to treat your weapon?" He tsked, his attention seemingly on her, though his eyes followed the chain of senshi that ran to face Ribbon's peril. He hid a smirk at the futility of the gesture.

< We should not rush into this without a plan. I doubt he is a foe any of us here can face alone. >

His wings shuddered, the fae worried when the shield wasn't able to stick around Ribbon's body. Maybe if they could direct his attention somewhere else... he felt responsible for the girl, in a way and he didn't wish to feel her suffer just because she had tried to do the right thing.

Why were aliens so emotionally unstable?

"Mars!" Mercury gasped and moved to help pull her back up. She couldn't help but scan her over with her visor, just to make sure she wasn't injured. Some of the tension building up in her faded, but just because Mars looked like she was in one piece did not mean it was true. She didn't trust this river in the slightest.

"Can you remember anything? Was there anything down there?"

The casual way he spoke to her, as if he knew everything about her despite never meeting her properly made Andromeda’s skin crawl. She re-summoned her weapon back to her hand and gripped it tight, displeased at how he’d used such a cowardly way to avoid it.

< What’s going on back there? > she asked the group that had retreated into the darkness.

“You seem to know a lot about us, yet we know nothing of you. How about you be polite and tell us what name we should carve on your headstone?” If she kept his attention on her, maybe he would not hurt the others. And maybe someone else can try a sneak attack to see if he was truly invulnerable.

Mars coughed as she accepted Mercury's help in climbing aboard. "I'm fine," she declared, "Better when I saw them pass me on the way up. Let's get going, I saw fire ahead."

He chuckled, "How delightfully presumptuous." He cocked his head back towards the girl pinned to the wall, though his eyes stayed on Andromeda. "Ribbon, you didn't tell me how overconfident she was. ... But then," the casual cheerfulness faded and his beautiful eyes darkened. "Senshi always are. It's been one of my favorite things to watch: the downfall after their inspiring speeches, the look on their faces as everything continues to go wrong, how differently they break. I can't say which is my favorite - the ones who go down in disbelief, or in despair." he trailed off thoughtfully, then nodded his head, "No, it has to be despair. That look of resignation and fear after so much determination and hope just gives me butterflies." 

"Hmm..." he hummed, stroking his chin with his thumb, "I wonder which of you will break first?"

Ribbon choked.

He waved her off dismissively, "Well other than you, of course, dear thing. Will it be Andromeda? Or Sedna? How about... Nocturnus?"

Nocturnus is forced to the ground as her mind relives recent actions she feels guilty about!

This was all her fault.

The small girl tried her best to push herself up from the weight that threatened to suffocate her, the black boots and gloves scraping against the fortress's mosaic floor. Her long dark hair covered her like a sheet, slicked as close to her body as if it were heavy with moisture. Some unknown dark force even obscured the twinkling that could usually be seen of the star-shaped adornments on her sailor suit. Her deep black eyes did not see the floor or anything else around her; they were focused elsewhere: internally. Something squeezed her so tightly that she could barely breathe.

Ribbon being here—being in danger. How could she have failed so intensely to protect her friend? Ribbon should never have been here—never! Fighting against Chaos: this was a mission for sailor soldiers. Sailor Nocturnus knew she was too weak; knew she was too useless when compared with the others, but still she came with. She should have stayed with her friend. It was the only thing she stood a chance of doing, but now here she was... and here Ribbon was... and there was nothing Nocturnus could do to to stop Him and protect her. She hadn't even made it close enough to shield her.

< Ribbon... I'm sorry...! > Even her voice across the mental link was faint and weak.

She should have done better. She should have protected someone who needed it... someone she had promised.

Callisto watched as the man continued to choke Ribbon within the dark mist, and then turned the Enyalius Crystal on Nocturnus. Not even Oberon's barriers seemed to reach here... She wanted to protect them, but she just couldn't see how, and it frustrated her. He was so smug about how better he was than all of them, but if they could just hit him...

Callisto growled and let that emotion fuel her next move as she ran towards the man. She used Vengeful Ursa and transformed without breaking her strife, determined to do as much damage as possible to him if she could.

Jasper could only stand and watch as Sailor Light followed his suggestion to practice her power of illusions. He thought that she would tap into her imagination and use any other thing in her sight as a reference. In that regard, she had succeeded.

Jasper was now standing before an illusory duplicate of himself that was rather animated. Was that what he looked like when he was happy? He wondered if Light was merely trying to flatter him, or if he was merely the most convenient subject. Regardless, Jasper soon found himself clapping his hands together in an expression of conservative approval.

"It looks good. Shall we continue our hunt?"
