Lotus Crystal

lol. They are, and from what I remember they were in training of some sort. So they could be similar to Luna and Artemis- only strictly serving Princess Mars herself. Considering they don't really seem to come out (Or outwardly care much) For the Moon Princess herself. Unlike Artemis who, even though he is Venus's guardian, cares far more about moon royalty.

It also makes me ponder - just exactly how much time in animal form would they have spent? As far as we know- up until the Princess Kaguya comic- Luna and Artemis remained only in Cat form.

Maybe it's not so for the Crow, Phobeos and Demios? Maybe on Mars they can switch back and forth and could've chosen to remain in human form mostly?

From what I remember of my own headcanon of Mars, I didn't use Bellona but Rhea-Silvia and said she had two sons (Romulus and Remus, twins) before she had Biston (And oc of mine but his name does have something to do with mars) and of course, Princess Mars.

That and she was a queen-consort as she married into royalty (via Ares).

i had other notions that on Mars, even though the system is somewhat more or less like a Monarchy. My ohter headcanon about it was that as a whole, the people of Mars tended to more headstrong. which created different sayings about the people Mars.

That people of Mars (much like Venus) before their agreement with the Moon were similar to that of Earth's, considering they were their closest neighbors.

Women on Mars were treated pretty much like Men were. Because I was thinking more warrior like people, I figured they'd boast a lot more that no matter which one you got, you're pretty much done for in a fight.
Also the succession for the throne was determined by birth order and can later be contested in a fight between the heir apparent and the next legal kin if there was enough doubt on the heir apparent and their worthiness for the throne. And considering I'm always about "birth order" regardless of gender, it's generally how it went.

I didn't generally touch on their religion much, other than that the Great Flames were sacred and important to them.

This is because of what happened later and essentially destroyed the original homes of all eight planets.

(That and I was vastly interesting in character driven things.)

I don't really know if this counts as a headcanon, but I'm pretty sure that, in the anime timeline, the R movie happened during the course of episode 88. I think that, in the time between fighting Wiseman and the time that Chibiusa returned to Crystal Tokyo, she stayed in 20th century Tokyo for a few more days. The reason they went to the botanical garden was as a sort of fun thing to do with Chibiusa before seeing her off... Of course, they got sidetracked pretty quickly. Razz

I also think that the reason the Silver Crystal was pretty much shot in the beginning of S, and the reason why Usagi needed to power it up again, was because she used up a whole bunch of energy during the R movie.

That's a very interesting version too. I had thought about incorporating Romulus and Remus into Martian myths, but I never really managed to do it. At least not so far. I don't have a fully detailed story for the myths of Mars, so maybe I could fit the name references in somewhere. And maybe Phobos and Deimos don't talk to the Moon royalty because the Moon royalty employs cats.

I can understand the religion thing. I wanted to focus on it because I knew I was trying to make civilizations, and I remember from 9th grade world history that a complex religion is one of the key features of a civilization. Also, it helped me tie in the zodiac signs and make a connection to why why associate certain signs with certain planets.

With Mars, I would think it would be difficult with the Zodiacs because Scorpio employs both Pluto and Mars as it's signs (unlike most of the other Zodiacs, they're hardly in dispute for a planet.)

I don't know about Deimos or Phobeos not talking to the moon because of the Cats. I would think it's more because they just aren't concerned about the same things. (ie: Mars/Mars princess is more important to the Crows. Where as for the Moon Cats- is well the Moon.) Less about them being two different speices and more about where their concerns are.

As for the signs thing, I know what you mean. I had originally thought of playing with that. Perhaps some elements of Pluto's religion got to Mars. But I decided to drop the idea to make things neater, and stick each sign with it's primary rulers. That's why I was only working with Aries.

Besides, the idea that Mars is co-ruler of Scorpio, or that Jupiter co-rules Pisces or Saturn co-rules Aquarius, is an idea that isn't shared by all astrologers. And on top of that, the association of Scorpio with Mars can still work because planets like Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto cannot be seen without the aid of a modern telescope.

Thats kinda what I had been thinking! Its either that or before ChibiUsa gets turned into Black Lady. But I like the headcannon about the beginning of S, so I may stick to yours. xD

Okay guys, I'm back with my next piece of headcanon.

The Jovian Kingdom
Planets in astrology sometimes get nicknames. Jupiter is called The Great Fortune (Venus is The Lesser Fortune). When it comes to Jupiter, you need to think big. Jupiter is the planet of luck, money, expansion, and success. With this in mind, The Jovian Kingdom was actually the richest of them all, and the financial backbone of the system. The largest businesses were here, and the best banks. This also means that in the past, Makoto was considered “the rich girl”, followed up by Mina, because they were the wealthiest of all of the princesses. And this may also help explain how she supports herself now, besides the plausible inheritance theory, pure Jovian luck. A sack of money probably dropped in her lap.

You can also bet that they benefited from the interplanetary alliance, which would have no doubt included trade agreements. Also, one of the reasons for their wealth was that they controlled trade between the inner and outer planets. They sat right next to the Asteroid Belt, so they could control who went in and out.

Now Jupiter’s kingdom was made of colonies on the many moons, like all the gas planets. So Jupiter started off like ancient Greece, made of individual city states (moons). These moons later united under one rule. Each moon is still called a state. The king of Jupiter during the Great Disaster was Zeus, and his wife was Queen Hera. To be clear, this Zeus was not the unfaithful person from the Greek myth. He was actually a very faithful man who loved his wife dearly. That sort of behavior came from the king’s brother, a known womanizer. If you’re wondering why I changed that, it’s because I just really wanted to. Greek mythology is full of way too many pricks, especially among the men. Besides, Zeus’s actions were an even bigger spit in the face considering his wife was the goddess of marriage.

Now the four largest states, the main states, were the ones we call the Galilean Moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Since Princess Jupiter’s castle was Io castle, the seat of political power was on Io, and her castle in this case would have been on Io’s surface. Now the real Jupiter is called a missing star or failed Sun. It has a composition like the Sun, but wasn’t large enough to ignite. Still, Jupiter is like a mini-solar system. And it has the most moons. The way it works is that whenever a new moon is discovered, it is given a temporary name by IAU until its orbit can be verified. So Jupiter has 50 moons and 16 temporary ones. Jupiter actually emits energy. And it has a massive magnetic field.

The real Io is known for lots of mountains and a lot of volcanism. This volcanism is driven by a tidal effect of sorts with Jupiter. Jupiter’s magnetic/gravitational field is so strong that when Io gets near Jupiter (and it orbits close), that the solid ground is pulled up hundreds of feet. This process also keeps liquid water off of Io. In that case, let’s say that Io and the other moons were a bit farther from Jupiter to begin with. I’m playing sort of loose with the science here. Of course Io in the past was still known for its many mountains and active volcanoes. And the other main moons were known for their deep oceans, but they weren’t frozen over and there was land.

The real Io also has a thing about electricity. When Io crosses the magnetic lines of Jupiter, this creates a large electrical charge. It goes across the surface of Io and also produces lightning in the upper atmosphere of Jupiter (although how you can differentiate between the atmosphere and everything else on a gas planet, I don’t know). Now if Io was farther away from Jupiter, this effect wouldn’t have happened, but in the past, Io was still known for lightning storms, and every year around the same time there would be one large lightning storm.

Jove is the basis for the word jovial, so Jupiter is a very upbeat kingdom. Their culture espouses the power of optimism, of looking to the horizon, and confidence in good fortune. And Jupiter is a very affluent society, more than Venus, and you’ll see a lot of large and wild parties. Also, Jupiter’s sign, Sagittarius, is an archer, and is claimed to be very straightforward, like the path of an arrow. And that stems from a genuine desire to be truthful and a poor ability to lie, unlike the Martians, whose honesty I rooted in the impulsive bluntness of the Aries personality type. Therefore Jovian society is one that favors straightforward honesty. This policy also leads to many cases of foot-in-mouth disease. Some are sadly incurable.

One of the things Jupiter was known for producing and/or working with was tin, the metal linked with the planet in alchemy and magic. Another famous feature of the Jovian Kingdom was the large numbers of tall oak trees. Many of the moons had vast forests of them. These trees are a state symbol. In the east, Jupiter is known as “The Wood Star”, and oaks were sacred to Zeus, which is why Sailor Jupiter has her “Oak Evolution” attack. These Jovian oaks are very tall and very strong and are very similar genetically to the Earth species called Southern Live Oak, or Quercus virginiana, a staple of the Old South.

On that note, I’d like to take a little bit to talk about the Southern Live Oak. It’s tall, and known for very heavy and very strong wood with very dense grains. It was used in a lot of ships back in the day. And it was the principle building material for a ship known as the USS Constitution. The Constitution fought in the War of 1812, and was meant to be one of several frigates. But it was built to be bigger, heavier, and more heavily armed than the average frigate. Its hull was 21 inches thick. The copper bolts in it were forged by Paul Revere himself. The workers sent to gather the wood for the ship reported that they were having an awful time of it, despite their iron tools.

During one particularly famous fight, the British were horrified to see their cannonballs literally bouncing off the hull of the Constitution. You read that right, the cannonballs bounced off the wooden ship. That earned the boat the nickname of “Old Ironsides”. It’s still around if you ever want to see it. And the Jovian oaks were like that.

Jupiter’s domain of “expansion” is more than just the monetary kind. It’s also about the expansion of the mind. Jupiter’s influence extends into higher education, long distance travel, and into areas like religion and justice. It covers morals and ethics. It is for reasons like these that Jupiter had very good relations with planets like Mercury and Venus.

Jupiter and Mercury could bond over their love of travel and interest in education. Jupiter’s colleges were excellent places to expand your own mental horizons, and you would see a lot of friendly competition between the two kingdoms. The Jovians were also very interested in learning from the Venusian court system, and admired the High Court of Venus. Then again, that’s not hard. The building was so well decorated you would think it was the Sistine Chapel and not the highest court on the planet. And of course they both loved parties.

Health wise the average height of the Jovian population was greater than that of the average height of the other kingdoms. Jupiter is also said to rule over the pituitary gland, or “the master gland” which controls, among other things, growth and growth hormones, so you see a lot of Jovian children go through dramatic growth spurts. Sagittarius also rules over the thighs, hips, and liver. So Jovians had long, well-toned legs, and those are the first to suffer from exhaustion. Jovians also have more sensitive livers, which makes them more susceptible to the effects of alcohol and increases the chance of hepatitis.

Jovians relished fresh air and physical activity. They also possessed greater than average strength, even before factoring in anything else. Only the Martians could rival them in on average muscle power. This means that Makoto’s strength was possibly natural. Jovians also tended toward broad foreheads and being lean and slender in build. Many of them tended to gain weight later in life, and for Jovian women, that weight would tend to deposit in the hips and thighs. They loved a variety of sports and had a large competition on Ganymede every few years, like the Olympics.

Jupiter’s power does have a negative side. Like Venus, this affluent society creates social ills like an excessive love of luxury, laziness, and being wasteful with money. Jupiter’s gifts need to be used wisely because they can disappear as fast as they appeared. The optimistic nature of Jovian culture can also be taken into blind optimism.

A lot of Jupiter’s negative influence can be summed up as excesses of some sort. And because of Jupiter’s association with luck, gambling was a big thing in this kingdom, and serious problem, for Jovians or even visitors. Callisto was home to this kingdom’s answer to Las Vegas, with lots of big casinos. And that gambler’s attitude extends beyond games. It extends into life. And while Jupiter’s power over expansion and success creates an affluent society, that also creates a powerful streak of greed too. It’s a need for more of anything, a need to expand without any direction or control. But expansion without boundaries is chaos.

Other negatives can be taken from the sign of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the sign of the explorer and philosopher. It is the opposite of Gemini. While Gemini is about personal one on one communication, and sampling new ideas, Sagittarius is about broader concepts, and doesn’t like to get tied up in personal attachments. The keywords for Sagittarius are possibilities and independence. This type is very friendly, but loves to explore and doesn’t like anything that it feels ties it down or interfere with the plans it makes. It wants to take ideas as far as they will go. But while it tends to start lots of projects, it gets bored and never finishes. The Sagittarius personality needs to learn enough responsibility to focus its energy to really make changes. It is the seeker of wisdom.

In that sense, many Jovians have a restless spirit, influenced by a culture that teaches the value of being open minded and exploring possibilities. This makes unfaithfulness a problem among Jovian couples, as some view emotional attachments as “tying them down”. Also, like the Sagittarius type, these people can lean towards having strong opinions, and may be hard pressed to be open to changing those opinions. The Sagittarius personality tends to do things to excess, and that holds true for their beliefs too, and their enthusiasm for those beliefs. Such enthusiasm can turn to fanaticism.

The Centaurs were also said to be followers of Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry, and they were heavy and wild drinkers. So Jovians were also known for their drinking. Now to be fair, because of their sensitive livers, Jovian wine wasn’t actually very strong. But during large parties, Jovians tended to drink greater quantities, so it balanced out. There was also a special type of Jovian wine that was reserved for religious holidays or other events of that caliber, and it was very highly taboo to open it for anything less. The largest vineyards of the kingdom were on Europa.

Jovian religion centers around a central figure, Chiron. Chiron, also known as the great Sagittarius (bowman, in case you were wondering, that’s the name really means, it’s Latin for bowman). Chiron was one of a race of celestial centaurs, half man, and half horse. He made the Jovians himself, and taught them all that he knew. That is what Chiron became, a great teacher and also a healer.

The antagonist figure in their religion was Nessus, another centaur. He was wild and vicious, and would have lead other centaurs to turn the Jovians into slaves had not Chiron intervened and taken up a bow and arrow to stop him. Because of this, horses are sacred on Jupiter. Also, Chiron, like many of the deities of these kingdoms, was said to have selected the first king of Jupiter, whose family ruled to the very end. And he crowned that king with an olive branch. The crowns of Jupiter today still look like that. The olive branch was also a prize given out during the ancient Olympics, held in honor of Zeus.

In their attempts to emulate Chiron, the Jovian military became the masters of mounted archery. They also developed several trick arrows. First they created poison tipped arrows. Then they used flammable chemicals to create flaming arrows (Sagittarius is a fire sign). This is something they taught to Mars, and the Martians perfected that particular trick.

With the advent of modern technology, they also created electric arrows. They attached electrical devices to either deliver a shock to a target, or two arrows could create an electrified field between them to hold back enemies. The most famous places of worship were on Io, and all of them were high up on the mountains, so they could be near the clouds. One of their religious holidays was connected to the giant lightning storm on Io, which occurred every year around the twenty first of December.

Okay, so here’s what I have on Saturn. Now before I start, I want to say this one is probably going to be longer than any of the others I’ve written. And it is going to be more difficult. Technically, the astrological symbolism of Saturn and Pluto still aligns with what we usually connect them with. Saturn is the planet of time, and Pluto with death and rebirth.

Now I know why the creator made the change she did. Technically Saturn was originally the god of agriculture. I am not going to change that. But this does mean that I have to work a bit harder here and that I have to bend some stuff on my end, and a little on the other end too. So this is probably going to involve more discussion. I’ve also had to work on Saturn and Pluto at the same time, but Pluto is coming later as I want to keep these in order.

The Saturnian Kingdom
If the Jovian Kingdom was the financial heart of the system, then the Saturnian Kingdom was the agrarian heart. Saturn had always been, and at the time of the Great Disaster still was, a very agrarian kingdom. They produced great quantities of some of the finest fruits, vegetables, and grains in the system. The last king and queen of Saturn were King Cronus and Queen Rhea. Since Princess Saturn’s castle was Titan Castle, this means that political power would have been centered on Titan. The moons here were home to an abundance of dark, thick, nutrient rich soil, the kind farmers dream of, and a minority of, say, red, nutrient poor clay soils like you would find in Georgia. This makes Hotaru the “farm princess” so to speak.

Now the usual idea about Princess Saturn is that she wasn’t awake in the past, and that she only awoke to end the whole Silver Millennium. I personally don’t want to go with that. While it could be possible to justify it, I don’t prefer it. Now the princess of Saturn/ Sailor Saturn was still very much feared by the people of the other kingdoms. They had terrible nicknames for her, Bringer of Destruction, Spirit of Death, Goddess of Ruin and Misery.

But such fear was not shared by the people of Saturn. They had very different names for their princess and host of the Saturn Crystal. To them she was The Lady of the Seasons, Bringer of Spring and Winter, and Ruler of the Harvest. I think people in the past would’ve focused too much on the “death” aspect of her powers. I mean the minute she says “death”, people would hang on that and forget all the other words around it. And then they’d freak out because all the sudden she’s just the Grim Reaper in a purple skirt. And death is certainly the most dramatic of her powers. But I feel like her powers need to be expanded beyond a destroyer. She’s also the Senshi of rebirth, and the only reason the others tried to kill her in canon was because her powers had been corrupted, not because she was inherently evil.

Now in astrology, Saturn is called The Celestial Taskmaster. It is the planet of hard work, discipline, and responsibility. It is the planet of self-control, the kind that makes us work for our reward instead of granting it right away like Jupiter. After all, agriculture was hard work. One of the keywords used in one of my books to describe what Saturn does is “testing”.

Saturn throws obstacles in our path, tests us, all to teach us to discipline ourselves. But Saturn never throws more at us than we can handle. Saturn delays reward. Saturn can make us face our fears and our doubts. But Saturn is also thought of as melancholy, cold, and severe, basically because it’s so serious. And while the Moon in astrology represents your mother and nurturing, Saturn often represents the father, like Father Time. Saturn’s power makes you stand the test of time.

Saturnian culture was patriarchal. But their patriarchal attitude wasn’t as bad as Mars, so women here didn’t have the same issues Martian women did. The patriarch of a family was very important, as was respecting the father. And like the Martians, there were many misconceptions about the people of this kingdom. Saturn is about authority too, so you’ll see a strong urge to respect authority.

People thought that the Saturnians were humorless, that they’re born with a permanent frown fixed to their faces. Why even their infants didn’t laugh. They were just as somber as the adults. They were thought of as a sad, overly serious bunch. These misconceptions are similar to the misconceptions some people have about Germany. Saturnians did have a sense of humor. Their sense of humor was more on the dry side though, a trait of both astrological Saturn and the sign of Capricorn.

Now everything I described about Saturn’s meaning matches the theme of time. You may be wondering how it fits together with Sailor Saturn’s power of death and rebirth. Well I think I found a way to connect them by focusing on the themes of agriculture, the seasons, and the growth of plants in general. You know the weapon of the god Cronus was a scythe, a farming tool handled by bother Father Time and the Grim Reaper. But let’s go beyond that. Let’s focus on the temperate seasons.

The passage of the temperate seasons has often been used as a metaphor for the passage of a human life. To give a modern example, take the Haunted Mansion and one of its Changing Portraits. This one is called April/December, or Pretty Miss April/Old Hag December. Picture one shows a pretty young woman. In the background in the upper right is written the word April. Then it changes to portrait two, showing the same person as a seriously decrepit old woman. In that upper right corner is the word December.

Now the painting was meant to have additional stages originally, two more in the middle. These two would show the transition between pictures one and two in greater detail, showing her getting older and older. The words on these original paintings (there is concept art you can see) were June and September. The order was April, June, September, December.

Note the symbolism. Yes, they are arranged so that they go from an early month to a late month, but there is more to it. The four represent the seasons. Each temperate season is three months. Summer starts in June. Autumn starts in September. Winter starts in December. The only exception is the first, because spring starts in March. But perhaps the creators preferred April as a name for their subject. Each portrait and each stage of her life is represented by an entire season. Her life is passing through the temperate seasons.

The spring of your life is the time of your birth through childhood. The summer is when the Sun burns brightest, and represents the teenage and early adulthood years, when the body is in its prime. Autumn is when things start to slow down and leaves lose their color and fall. This is middle age. Winter is when everything sleeps and/or dies. That is old age and death.
That’s why I want to focus on the seasons. Their passage can be used as a metaphor for the passage of time, has been used for just that. And if you concentrate on spring and winter, there’s the symbolism for death and rebirth.

To be fair, there are some elements of death and rebirth already present with Saturn, or rather, Capricorn, the only sign now ruled by Saturn in astrology. According to one of my books, the goat, the sign of Capricorn, was once used as a transitional symbol on the Gregorian calendar of ancient Rome. Like Janus, the two-headed god of beginnings and endings, it presided over the end of the old year and the beginning of the next. Don’t believe me? Take a look at Capricorn’s dates. The Sun is in Capricorn from December 22^nd (right around the winter solstice to start winter) to January 19^th. It does, in a sense, preside over the “death” of the old year and the “birth” of the new.

Now to be clear, Capricorn is NOT the sign of death and rebirth. Such symbolism is given to, and better suited to, the sign of Scorpio, the one ruled by Pluto. I am just saying however, that this particular historical detail can be viewed like that if you want.

While on the subject, let’s talk about death and rebirth itself. Death/rebirth in astrology and other New Age concepts is basically metaphorical. Take the Death card (#13) in Tarot. Most people freak out when they see that card. They think they or someone else is going to die. That’s the usual cliché. However, the Death card rarely means literal physical death. It means that some sort of incredible change is coming. It is metaphorical death. Some part of you or your life may die, but something new will be born in its place. The concept of death is never alone.

One of the other things I wanted to focus on for symbolism was plant growth in general. This can be related to agriculture and the seasons. But it can also be tied to death/rebirth. What is one type of god/goddess that can get associated with the cycle of rebirth? The answer is vegetation. For example, take Persephone, daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Her myth explains spring and winter, death and rebirth.

That’s why I view Sailor Saturn as being so strongly connected to agriculture, the seasons, and plant growth. And that’s why I particularly focus on spring and winter. It’s the way I managed to mesh the astrological symbolism with SM canon. And yes, Saturn’s astrological influence and the metaphor of agriculture are better suited to the concept of time. It’s not a perfect fit. But the point is that it can be made to work if you know where to focus. And if you wanted, you could perhaps say that the people of Saturn viewed the idea of death and rebirth as just another trial to overcome. Again, that’s not the best fit to the symbolism, but you could work it like that if you wanted. And I think this focus gives Sailor Saturn a bit more depth.

Now that that’s done, let’s get back to the Saturn Kingdom. The nature of Saturn and Capricorn means that Saturnian society was taken to a very strong work ethic, and its culture valued discipline, self-control, and taking responsibility. It valued hard work to earn rewards. It valued patience. In the east Saturn is called “The Earth Star”, but this works into the already established theme, in that the people of Saturn were the masters of working with the earth itself. It is on this planet that knowledge of agricultural science and botany was the most developed. Many of the people here seemed blessed with a green thumb, whether they worked a farm or not. Greenhouses and gardens were very common in Saturnian homes.

While Saturn was still a very agrarian kingdom, it did evolve over time. Capricorn is known as the work horse of the zodiac, and its ambitious nature makes it fit right into business, or any career. So there are many up and coming businesses on Saturn, and a strong modern work force. I drew even more traits from the sign of Capricorn. Traditionally, Capricorn was thought of as the sea-goat. But modern astrology prefers to look at it as a regular goat, or more particularly, a mountain goat. And what does a mountain goat do? It climbs mountains, finding footholds you may not have thought existed. Even regular goats are known for their ability to climb and balance.

And that’s what Capricorn is about, climbing a mountain. It’s ambitious and driven. It has tremendous power and the ability to go the distance to reach its goal, the summit of the mountain. Capricorn is also an earth sign, and that translates into practicality. It’s a cardinal sign, which means initiative and creative force. The Capricorn personality type is a great organizer, gathering all information and establishing a direction before going for that goal. They may plan far ahead, into months or even years. And they will reach the goal. They take a practical approach to everything, creating order from chaos.

In that sense, Saturn society is instilled with the same drive and practical sensibility. That’s not to say they have no creative spark whatsoever though. They do, and you’ll see some creative effort and style here. But it’s coupled with a powerful sense of practicality. Also of note is the fact that the pan flute is the most popular instrument in the kingdom.

Saturnian society was very reserved, again, like modern German culture. They didn’t like expressing their emotions, or rather, were not comfortable with them. But they could get any task done. They may not have been as quick to start as, say, the Martians, but that was because Saturnian society did not really like uncertainty or ambiguity. They liked to know, and to be in control. So like Capricorn, they gathered all the data first, and then tackled a goal to the best of their ability. The most likable trait of Capricorn is steadiness. Saturnian society also happens to be rather individualistic. The Capricorn personality type is something of a loner.

However, Saturn does have a negative side, like all the astrological planets. Social ills of this planet include over-ambition, being calculating and selfish. Many people in this kingdom also suffer from loneliness and depression, or feeling inhibited, basically because of difficulty in sociability. Saturn is also the planet of restriction, for reasons I will get into more when I talk about Uranus. Some Saturnian people can also be driven to being cold, cruel, and rigid, if not genuinely humorless or pessimistic. The gloomy nature of Saturn is why people tend not to like it very much. And the Capricorn type is very prone to being a workaholic, another problem on ancient Saturn.

There are other problems that can be drawn from Capricorn. Capricorn’s incredible drive and ambition is a quest for glory and approval from others. The type is described as being very self-critical, never satisfied with themselves, like the planet Saturn is a miniature parent pushing them further. Because they can find no approval within, they try harder to find it outside. This is a struggle between Capricorn’s confidence and inner doubts.

The Capricorn type is supposed to be self-sufficient, and proud of it. They need things to do and accomplish and don’t like failing. If someone helps them, they will always repay the favor, though perhaps not so much out of affection but rather out of pride and not wanting to be under an obligation. Capricorns are also said to be more likely to marry for money. Their nature makes them conservative and cautious with money, so they build that up over their lifetimes. These are traits you would see in the people of Saturn, based on their cultural values.

Capricorn’s challenge is to find balance in their life, to stop feeling like they aren’t worthy of their inner child and balance work with play. Also, Capricorns are challenged to open up their emotions and allow real relationships to grow, lessons they could learn from the sign’s opposite, Cancer, the sign of family and home. This is also the challenge of many people on Saturn as they live within their culture.

Saturn was also known for mining and working with lead. In fact, the word saturnine pertains to lead poisoning. It also means gloomy. The rather melancholy nature of Saturnian society doesn’t exactly help them socially with the other kingdoms. And the disturbing reputation of their planetary protector didn’t help either.

Health wise, Saturnians share many features. Capricorn rules over the bones, joints, knees, and teeth. So Saturnians were known for striking bone structures, and beautiful, often angular faces. Features like these made Saturnian women more photogenic. Saturnians were also given to strong constitutions that seemed to get better with age, and were also known for long average life spans, even factoring in the planet’s orbit.

However, they were more vulnerable to problems of the bones, joints, and knees, things like accidents, fractures, bumps, bruises, and cuts. Also, many Saturnians had a trick knee or had joint aches, and the knees tired out quickly. They also had greater problems with things like arthritis, stiff joints, neuralgia, and orthopedic issues.

This was also one reason why you wouldn’t see some older Saturnians on Venusian tropical resorts. Take it from someone with experience; the humidity of tropical regions can be awful on those with arthritis, especially if you’re sensitive to weather changes. Saturn itself also rules the bones and teeth, in addition to the gallbladder, spleen, and skin. So Saturnian teeth required more upkeep, and their skin tended to be dry and sensitive.

Also, considering Hotaru’s sign and planet rule over bones, it’s ironic that her least favorite food is milk, the very thing that would help her grow strong bones, and help someone as frail as her. In my headcanon she was frail in the past too. But considering that her people had good constitutions, I attribute her frailty to perhaps being the result of complications from being born premature. It can happen you know.

Some moons of Saturn also suffered from rapidly aging population demographics, like the real life Great Plains region of the U.S. These moons didn’t do well in expanding beyond agriculture in the economic sense, so well educated younger people looking for particular kinds of careers (not in agriculture) would tend to move elsewhere for college and never move back, so the proportions of older people just went up.

Saturnian religion centers on their creator god, Capricorn. Their myths tell how Capricorn first made himself visible to the people of Saturn in the form of a mountain goat. The myth of Capricorn tells of how the people of Saturn tried to search for the fabled cornucopia, but found Capricorn testing them all along the way.

The cornucopia is the “horn of plenty”. It’s a horn overflowing with fruits and vegetables. Here in the U.S., it is a common symbol of Thanksgiving. It has its roots in Greek myth, and the horn is actually a goat’s horn, so it’s tied to sign of Capricorn. The horn in Greek myth was fabled to produce an endless abundance of food, or perhaps just endless abundance of anything. It’s for that myth that goats are sacred on Saturn, and royal symbols along with the cornucopia (if the original existed, it got lost). The people of Saturn also like to drink goat’s milk. And mountain climbing is a popular sport.

Now before Sailor Saturn was officially created, which was rather early, the Saturn Crystal still chose a host for its power, someone from within the royal family. This person became involved in the two religious holidays of Saturn. One was to start off winter, and was held on December 22^nd.

The Saturn host, formally addressed as “The Lady of the Seasons”, would perform a ritualistic dance before a gathered crowd, in accompaniment with singers and pan-flutists. She would also be twirling a ceremonial scepter (not a glaive, that’s too dangerous for a ritual). During this performance, she would harness the power of the crystal to lull all the plant life into a state of death/slumber, as the next day was the start of winter, when everything was covered in a blanket of snow. It wasn’t malicious. Rather it was gentle and soothing, like a lullaby to nature, putting it to bed to be reborn later. This time also corresponded to a great feast.

The second holiday was the opposite, and happened around spring time. A large field was sown with seeds and buds. The Lady walked up a stone path to a platform overlooking the field. Again she was joined by crowds. She would then strike her scepter on the stone, sending a wave of magic that would cause every seed and every bud to bust into full bloom, and signal the birth of spring. It was a truly magnificent sight. Also, the host of the crystal/Sailor Saturn was considered a priestess of Capricorn.

The crystal’s power was primarily used on vegetation at first, for good reasons. It was much later in history that the host of Saturn, who had not too long ago had become Sailor Saturn, did something that earned this protector their disturbing reputation as a destroyer. A rebellion had built up against the crown. It was a violent rebellion. An army of ten thousand soldiers had gathered on the moon of Mimas, enslaving all that did not willing come to their side, and heading to the port to march upon Titan. Sailor Saturn was sent to try and stop them. The position was held by a woman named Demeter, who for now I am going to say was Hotaru’s great aunt.

As the army advanced, Demeter grew desperate. The powers of Sailor Saturn thus far were basic magic. In her efforts to fight them, she harnessed more of the crystal’s true power than she’d ever done, and so unleashed the most dramatic effect it had, a wave of incredible death magic, harsher than the kind used to prepare for winter.

In one blow, the entire army was swept up in dust. And when the dust settled, there was no army. Every single soldier was gone. All that was left were piles of bleached bones and corroded weapons, all withered by the power of death. But for such a strike, Demeter then died. This was the consequence of channeling such intense death magic, and the story spread around the system and created a great fear of Sailor Saturn. Not that she didn’t make people afraid before that. Think about it. Nations would be quite afraid of someone who, with her specific magical powers, could make your crops to wither up and die while making others flourish. No matter how modern a nation is, we depend on what we grow, and her powers can easily direct that. But what she did to that army only made her more intimidating.

Today Mimas is known for a very large crater. Scientists say that whatever made the impact probably came close to shattering the whole moon. This crater coincidentally marks the very spot where Demeter destroyed the rebellious army. This crater is called Herschel after the man that discovered the moon, and stretches across one third of its surface. And as NASA’s page points out (I am not kidding, this is on NASA’s site), this crater makes Mimas look like the Death Star.

There’s a reason why her powers were mostly used on vegetation at first. The way I see it, there’s a sliding scale of difficulty with her powers and their application. Matter and non-sentient plant life would be very easy to manipulate with her powers, almost natural. Doing the same with non-sentient animal life would also be possible, but trickier and more taxing. And using those powers on sentient life is the hardest. Using the magic to force a sentient life to die would result in the user’s death. I imagine doing something on the rebirth side would have similarly severe costs.

And you need that kind of consequence for powers like that. Without that, the user could kill anyone they wanted without fear. They could just zap you dead, even for just annoying them. And this death is meant to be permanent. The only reason Hotaru survived was because Sailor Moon stepped in. Otherwise, being reborn as a baby is not standard operating procedure.

Now the canon states that bringing together the three Talismans woke up Sailor Saturn and set off her instant death move. In my headcanon, the three Talismans, the weapons of the Outers, were enchanted to create another precaution against Saturn’s strongest and deadliest attack. This enchantment was tied to her glaive. It was designed so that Saturn would be unable to use that attack without the power/consent of her fellow soldiers. When the Silver Millennium ended, Serenity’s final acts set off the Talismans somehow, and forced Sailor Saturn to launch an attack more powerful than anyone had ever or would ever see again.

The Saturnian military was also known for their great skill with a war scythe. Yes, those exist. It’s different from a glaive though, and I think the design of Sailor Saturn’s weapon still resembles a glaive more than a war scythe. And according to my theory, the modern people of the SM universe could have associated Saturn with time because the most prominent pieces of information that they remembered subconsciously were the facts that Saturn was agrarian and it had a hard work ethic. If you had to make a choice, those pieces of information are probably better suited to time than death/rebirth. Besides, when the planet Pluto came along, it seemed the better fit for death/rebirth.

I've had this headcanon since reading the Classic arc of the manga (new translation):
The Moon and Golden Kingdoms seem to have existed long before modern human history, because there is no modern record of their existense in the story.
Q Serenity is implied (by Nehelina) to have come from a different part of the galaxy and settled on the moon, meaning she was not a native.
What if the residents of Earth were also settlers?
What if Q Serenity was really charged with watching over the Humans that had yet to evolve, not the denizens of the Golden Kingdom?

I think she was saying that the inhabitants of the Golden Kingdom were not native of Earth, but there were already a not as advanced race of humanoids existing on the planet. It is mentioned in the manga that Endymion would look at the earth from the Golden Kingdom which was a part of Elysium, suggesting that the Golden Kingdom itself was perhaps in another plane of existence.

It was in the dream arc. Where Mamoru and Usagi are saved from Nehellenia's curse by Helios. I am reading the Kodansha translation in the rerelease so I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

Helios says "Prince, your family has guarded this sanctuary for many ages... This Elysion... is where your lost realm, the Golden Kingdom, used to stand."

Mamoru then replies as he remembers, "...The Golden Kingdom...?! That's right. Elysion, this planet's lush guardian sacred land, which shares winds with the surface. I do know this place.I used to live here. I loved this place." (I think i may have gotten the order a bit wrong cause of right to left reading oops lol)

Helios: "That is correct, Prince. You'd head to the surface from here, to protect this planet."

Which is what leads me to belive the Golden Kingdomwas its own thing.

Speaking of the Golden Kingdom, I just finished working up my headcanon for it in great detail. So I'd like to share it here. I really wanted to keep these in order, but I just got inspired. And while I’m on that subject, I’d like to thank Ktenshi for giving me the idea here and PallasMercury too. This will be an expansion of headcanon ideas I have mentioned in other threads.

The Golden Kingdom
The first thing to do is establish some things about the Golden Crystal. After that, things will make more sense. The Golden Crystal in my headcanon represents the pure power of the Sun, not the Earth. I have explained why in other threads. But it can still work. The manga had a line from Queen Nehellenia called Mamoru “the prince of Earth guarded by the Sun.”

My idea is that the Golden Crystal came to the planet Earth and served as their planetary crystal. The actual Earth Crystal is too weak to be a Sailor Crystal and/or support a magical protector, whether that is a Sailor Senshi or any equivalent. After all, not every star seed becomes a Sailor Crystal, right? If I am wrong on that, please correct me. The idea the Earth Crystal is not a proper Sailor Crystal also reflects Earth’s lack of prominence in astrology. The Golden Crystal was harnessed by the Earth and used to create the Golden Kingdom, which covered most of the Earth. I mean look at it, Golden Crystal, Golden Kingdom, it cannot be a coincidence.

The Sun in astrology represents vitality, the center, the heart, creative energy, and individuality. It’s the most important object in an astrological chart. When people ask what your sign is, they mean Sun sign. It’s your will, your spirit, life-giving force. It has been said that the Moon is the hidden part of you, the id, those basic emotions and instincts. The Sun is therefore the ego, the rational part of you that others see.

In magic, the Sun gets little attention. The same book on magic and alchemy that gave me a lengthy article for the word “moon” had, under “sun”, a single small paragraph. However, the Sun is more properly connected to another object, The Philosopher’s Stone. It’s one of the symbols of the stone, as is the metal linked to the Sun, gold.

The Philosopher’s Stone is a legendary object sought in one form or another by alchemists of the east and west. In the west we wanted it more to turn metals and minerals into other metals, usually lead into gold (or silver, the stone could also do silver, gold was preferable though). In the east, it was the Elixir of Life, a substance that was supposed to extend lifespan or grant immortality, or cure any illness. Some of those features were in Western alchemy too.

And solar deities have been linked with health and disease. From the Greeks, take Apollo, who was a minor god of healing and whose arrows could bring plague. Or from Egypt, take Sekhmet, daughter of the Sun god, shown as a lioness. She too was a healing goddess whose arrows brought plague.

I propose that the Golden Crystal and the Silver Crystal were siblings of sorts, compliments. They both express their power as raw magic, and were born together as magical equals. And the Golden Crystal has a vitalizing effect on the Silver. The Sun is said to vitalize all the other planets in astrology, so perhaps the Gold has a similar (but lesser) effect on the other planetary crystals. I am not sure if I am going to keep that in my headcanon, it’s just an idea that came to mind.

With the Golden Crystal in their possession, the people of Earth were granted much longer life spans. Their bodies were kept young, strong, and free of disease. The Golden Kingdom grew to this fantastic civilization, more grand and incredible than you had ever seen. The Sun is considered masculine most of the time, so this was a patriarchal society.

Now at this point I take qualities from the only sign ruled by the Sun, Leo. Leo’s most likable trait is exuberance. This sign radiates warm and personal magnetism like the Sun. It’s the sign of fun, pleasure and creativity, the sign that is linked with the height of the summer. Those born under this sign are often called eternal children because they give affection freely and live in the moment. This type just has an incredible love of life, and a big and generous heart, as well as courage and a creative spirit. And it’s that sort of spirit that was encouraged in the culture of the Golden Kingdom.

Leo is known for loving drama and hyperbole. Leo’s are the biggest spenders of the zodiac. So the Golden Kingdom was once a very affluent society and known for incredible opulence. The Leo type, when hurt, strikes quickly but forgives just as fast. That’s another part of the attitude encouraged by their culture. The people of the Golden Kingdom were usually gifted with great creativity that expressed itself in all areas, but they did have a particular love of theater. The Great Royal Theater in the capital was a truly incredible place, an actor’s dream stage.

There were actually many impressive buildings and structures here. The royal palace in the very center of the capital was so large and so opulent that you would have thought the best architects on Venus built it. But they didn’t. At the height of the kingdom, it actually dwarfed anything on any other planet. It was massive, and was known, among other things, for gardens filled with sunflowers, marigolds, orange trees and citrus trees, along with marble statuary and crystal clear pools. Think the palace of Versailles.

The negative side of the Sun is being self-centered and egotistical. And pride is also the great weakness of Leo too. See, Leo has many hidden insecurities. On the one hand they have a great sense of self-assurance that they are great, and presume they will have the leader role. But on the other hand, this type also suffers from a mix of fears. They fear the universe will short change them. They fear they aren’t good enough, partially because they set standards for themselves way too high. The have a massive fear of failure.

This type constantly needs praise and adoration, and meddles with others because they need to be needed. Their challenge is to learn to love themselves properly. They need to do work they love and do work just for being wonderfully creative, and not for any awards it may win. How this plays into the kingdom is something I will get into later.

The religion of the Golden Kingdom was centered around a single figure, Leo, the celestial lion. Their ancient scriptures said that it was Leo who gave the Golden Crystal to Earth as a gift and selected their first king, Hercules. The temples of the Golden Kingdom tended toward a particular architecture style. They were very open and airy, all to maximize incoming sunlight. Religious meetings were often held outside and when they were inside, the altars were placed in front of windows positioned to catch the rising sun. The musical accompaniment to their worship was loud and energetic, with lots of dancing an flashy costumes, similar to gospel, basically because if you have a religion based in the sign of Leo, I can think of no music better suited. The evil figure in their religion was the snake beast Apep, who Leo defeated.

The architecture of the Golden Kingdom was actually very much focused on using natural sunlight. And the temples were frequently made of white marble to increase the reflected energy of the Sun. They were also topped in gold. Their biggest religious holiday was in the summer, around July 23rd. Lions were a royal symbol and cats of all kinds were well treated in this kingdom. You know they would have loved our modern internet. Their military was also known for their archers.

Actually, the cat theme went pretty far. Royal and military regalia often resembled cats, and lion headdresses were common for ceremonies. The major military divisions were named after the large cats: lion, tiger, panther, and cheetah. Spot and stipe tattoo patterns were also popular among the younger people at the height of the kingdom. This was also a very active society that liked outdoor sports. Laurel trees were sacred here, and so laurel wreathes were used for the shape of the crowns.

Physically they were often tanned for obvious reasons. They were also taken to beautifully shaped heads with thick, shining hair and bright, even teeth. All of that was helped by the effects of the Golden Crystal, which kept them in fantastically good health.

This kingdom’s greatness didn’t last however. The people of Earth, blessed as they were, began to not appreciate all that they had been given. It happened slowly over time. They became very arrogant, and flaunted the greatness of their planet to everyone they visited or who visited them. Of course in times past they had certainly earned praise, but still…

They also grew greedy. There were a few smaller kingdoms on the Earth that the Golden Kingdom had let live in peace before this. They even gave them gifts. But all that changed under the rule of King Midas. It was under him that the arrogance of the Earth reached a peak. It was rumored that he used the power of the Crystal to turn servants and others he didn’t like into gold. He certainly used it to turn lots of other things into gold, including parts of the palace.

Midas had his forces crush these peaceful little kingdoms, bringing the whole planet under his control. And when I say crush, I mean it. He destroyed them and the royals were either slaughtered or made into slaves for Midas’s amusement. Midas soon turned his attention to conquering the system.

Now this was long before the period called Silver Millennium or the rule of Serenity XII. Actually, this was during the rule of Queen Hecate. Being a smart conqueror, Midas started with both his closest neighbor, and the one that most matched him in magical power, the Moon. His army charged onto the Moon and stormed the palace, where Midas met Hecate sitting on her throne, with her family. Any soldiers in the way were either killed or turned to gold.

Midas then took the Golden Crystal and attempted to use its power to kill Hecate. And that’s where everything went wrong. Because the Gold and Silver Crystals were siblings of sorts, it was a universal taboo to use them against one another. The people of Earth had been told that by Leo himself when he gave it to them. It was in their scriptures. And even the Moon people knew not to use the Silver against the Gold. The Golden Crystal refused to strike its sister. The previous offenses of the people of Earth and of King Midas had been terrible, but it drew the line there.

The Golden Crystal didn’t do anything to punish them. It just left the Earth and went to a pocket dimension. That was punishment enough, and why it hadn’t left before this. Because when it left, the magical effects went with it, and it set off a horrific domino effect.

All the people of Earth suddenly felt… cold, hollow and empty. It was like a candle inside them had been blown out. All at once, their bodies weakened. Suddenly they didn’t feel as strong, or youthful, and suddenly they couldn’t live so long. Many of the very oldest in the kingdom dropped dead from organ failure, and those that didn’t immediately die didn’t last much longer. Those who were simply old still felt a severe shock. People here still grew to old age. They still got gray hair and wrinkles and still died of age. But the Crystal had made their old bodies strong and energetic relatively speaking, so they aged gracefully. Now they were withering.

There were so many accidents as people felt their now weaker muscles give out under them. Some people suddenly discovered they had asthma…while having a severe attack. Problems like that had been alleviated by Crystal’s magic. Others found they were allergic to peanuts while eating them. And so it went on with other disorders like that, from blindness to deafness to the inability to walk, all had returned.

The people of Earth had also started using the Crystal on their crops, so with it gone, many of their crops suddenly grew sick and blighted. And all of the sudden disease was a problem, colds and flus and even chicken pox. Their doctors were helpless. They knew how to treat injuries or cure poisons, but germs and disease were things they hadn’t had to contend with since before anything resembling modern medical practice. I mean they invented the sewer if just for the smell, and cleaned things for neatness, but sanitation? Why would they have needed to bother with that, the Crystal kept them disease free. Also, all the things Midas had turned to gold changed back, along with the people, though some of those poor souls had been melted down.

It was complete and total chaos. They say you could hear the wails of misery all the way to the Moon. Midas was so enraged that he drew a dagger and decided to kill Hecate the old fashioned way. He leapt at her, but Princess Phoebe got in the way. She ended up being stabbed in the heart and died instantly.

Hecate was furious. The Earth had already been punished, and she was so angry, that she was afraid of what she would be tempted to do with Midas still there. So she ordered her guards to take Midas and all the Earthlings and dump them back on Earth. Or rather, she ordered that the filth be sent back to their little “mud ball” and rot.

Hecate actually had many daughters and sons. Phoebe had been the oldest. The tragic thing was that her death came three days before her 18th birthday. The Queen and palace staff had been planning a great party for months, and three days later, what was meant to be a large celebration turned into a funeral. Midas himself was violently executed by an angry mob upon his return. From there, Earth was in chaos for a time.

Later, a new royal family was established, the one from which Endymion was born. And the borders of the Golden Kingdom were maintained, if only because there was nothing left of those little kingdoms to return. Queen Hecate declared that all physical contact with Earth and the Golden Kingdom was strictly forbidden under punishment of execution, including being buried alive. This was also when the Moon started spying on the Earth, if just to make sure they didn’t do anything else monumentally stupid. After all, Moon society can hold a grudge.

While the law excluding contact stayed around, the attitude towards Earth split over the years. Some still hated them for murdering their princess/future queen and daring to turn the twin crystals of magic against each other. No, it didn’t make rational sense, but that’s never stopped anyone from feeling guilty before, has it? It was that more sympathetic attitude that was adopted by Queen Serenity the XII, who was hoping to try and subtly guide the Earth somehow.

And though the people of Earth and their kingdom managed to restore a sense of order, things were never the same. They were alone now. The Moon wasn’t talking to them, and the other planets were staying away, the arrogance of the Kingdom having insulted the diplomats and visitors from every single planet. And this lack of contact was even more assured with the peace treaty lead by the Moon.

Physical recovery also took a long time. By the time of the Silver Millennium, Earth’s people were much stronger. They were given to fairly strong constitutions, the stronger individuals being the ones that survived what they called the Great Eclipse. Leo rules the heart, back, and spine, so this Earth population was more prone to upper back and spine problems, as well as heart problems. And as far as the kingdom’s status went, they never recovered. They went from being on top to being an embarrassment, as well as technologically and culturally backwards thanks to the isolation. While every kingdom benefitted from working together, they were alone. And they knew they were backward thanks to a few scattered visitors from other planets.

Their religion took on more somber elements after that, and people spent more time indoors. The Sun was now a whole lot harsher. The bright white shade of the temples was dulled because the glare hurt. And it was something like this that made it easier for Beryl to whip them into rebellion.

I stated way back that their actions at the end of the Silver Millennium were an inspiration for Atlantis. I want to retract that statement. Atlantis was inspired by these events. In fact, more inspiration is taken from the capital. Plato described the capital of Atlantis as having a hill in the center for the Temple of Poseidon. And around that were alternating rings of land and canals, so around the hill was a canal, then a ring of land, then a canal, etc. All this was connected by bridges. Now that makes it shaped like a giant bull’s-eye.

The symbol for the Sun is a circle with a dot in the center. Compare the two. Atlantis’s capital was shaped basically like a Sun symbol repeating itself over and over. That was the shape of the Golden Kingdom’s capital, with that central point being the palace.

The Golden Crystal was waiting for a time when the Earth was worthy of its power again. The astrological Sun is not just the broad strokes of your personality and who you are, but represents who you are trying to become. The Sun (#19) represents enlightenment. And in alchemy, the Philosopher’s Stone and the whole alchemical process also represented spiritual enlightenment. Alchemists thought that metals and minerals evolved over time to higher states like gold, and that the Philosopher’s Stone just accelerated the process. Alchemy is a metaphor for improvement. Through trial and effort, and the removal of impurities, one can be transformed from lead to gold; can evolve to that higher state. And that’s the journey of Earth’s people.

The Golden Crystal IS the Philosopher’s Stone. And the reason the Stone is usually thought of as red is because the Golden Kingdom had a great love of rubies, the stone linked with Leo, as well as July’s birthstone. When the end came, the Golden Crystal saw in Endymion a great deal of potential, potential to become the sort of noble person it had been waiting for, and so it sealed itself inside of him as he was being sent back to Earth. And the Crystal also saw greatness is the High Priest Helios at that time. So it granted him a piece of its power (that’s when he got that gold horn on his head), and pulled him and a piece of the kingdom into that same pocket dimension to be protected until the time came.

Endymion’s parents were King Apollo and Queen… I am actually stuck there. I can’t decide between naming his mother Daphne or Cassandra. Which one do you think is better?

I got on a head canon kick because of another thread, so here they are.

I think this was already mentioned, but it's probably like a magical roadblock so the girls don't see too much of their future like their new forms and Uranus, Neptune and Saturn.

It's the difference of learning where your future is leading verses knowing how your future got there.

When they first went to the future, saw themselves as their first transformation. Their original fukus.

This is what they saw when they went the first time, nearly 1000 years in the future... but in less than a year they upgraded to super and than to Eternal.

It's like getting to foresee your own death, you know it's going to happen, but you don't know how. If you knew how, it wouldn't happen. Same concept.

That also explains why we don't see Uranus, Neptune or Sailor Saturn. If they couldn't learn of their upgrades, to ensure those upgrades could happen (Since they seemed to depend on key reasons of enlightenment, something they had to go through to advance. Something that made them stronger.) then it goes to say that they weren't ready to meet the others because if they knew, it could change the course of time and events would happen much differently. Butterfly effect.

Relationships like theirs need to grow naturally, it's they've bonded over hardships. They've learned. Their meeting the outers is also what helped them grow to Supers in the manga.

They already met Pluto, so that's why she's always seen.

HEADCANON for my reasonings on where they exactly were.

Headcanon: The senshi also didn't learn of their castles until later in the series. Those castles still stood by their home planets even in the present, so I believe they are still there in Crystal Tokyo. The senshi are now rulers of their own kingdoms.

The people of the earth destroyed the people of the Silver Millennium, and their ancestors would repopulate it.

Now to the reason I stated all that topic unrelated stuff, because this head canon is why I think the outers weren't their.

Obviously they remember that in the past, the inners had gone to the future.

The Outer's were sent away. Wanting desperately to help but like in the original Silver Millennium, they had other duties.

They probably were protecting the other planets from any attacks by Nemesis. Nemesis probably focused the brunt of it's attacks on Crystal Tokyo and probably only on that side of the planet Earth. It was after all because Death Phantom's soul had tainted the planet and they became one. It was a personal vendetta against the woman that had banished him. But just in case, the other kingdoms needed to be protected.

I think all the senshi rule the planets together, like a council. Their bond is like a deep loving family, and they consider and respect and love each other. They would help in each others decisions.

The Council of the Crystal Era, but each rulers of their own Kingdoms, because it's a unity of kingdoms, and one does not own the other but it's like a peace treaty between countries. Allies. Crystal Tokyo may be the capital, but some of the other cities may be more popular like California and Sacremento and Los Angelos or Hollywood lol.

I imagine that other planets in other systems have their own similar Galactic Alliances.

Kinmoku is a giant red planet, but much like earth except minor differences. Lush green lands, and various geological formations but many volcanoes that create jungle like area's all over. The sand and dirt is red, and the oceans, their water, is red.

The Starlights are depicted as heavenly bodies, wandering stars. Like the Asteroid senshi, yet not, they hail from comets, and their homes(the comets) were trapped by the pull of the planet Kinmoku, and as a result, the three lights were in turn pulled to Kakyuu-hime, and like the Sailor Senshi towards Sailor Moon, they devoted their lives to her.

So their comets became moons.

The Alliance in their corner of the Galaxy is the capital Tankei Kingdom(Kakyuu-hime's kingdom) and the various kingdoms on Kinmoku, and the three moons. Fighter, Healer and Maker. (Hey what may be strange outside of Vegas is fun, if only in Vegas. What's weird names to us might be important to them lol?

And who is to say there were mini alliances within the Silver Millennium, that doesn't carry over into the Crystal Millennium? Coronis obviously greatly appreciated Mars, while Mau was specially fond of the Moon. Whose to say planet Mermaid wasn't fond of Mercury and/or Neptune.

The senshi of the Milky Way galaxy are famous all on their own.

Like planets, asteroids, comets, sun's, floating in space, we also know their are other things. Black holes, warps in space, dark matter.

Whose to say there aren't other things. Crystals floating around, souls without a heavenly body or a humanoid body? But CRYSTALS.

This is stemmed from another's theory about how Queen Serenity didn't actually come from the moon but a different galaxy like Nehelania. With her she carried the Silver Crystal and brought it to the moon, which is why she doesn't have a natural crescent moon upon her forehead but Usagi does.

I imagine a war raged where Nehelania and Queen Serenity are from, and that they knew each other.

I believe that the silver crystal was a person, and died in a battle or something where they are originally from. I believe, that person was Queen Serenity's favorite person. Best friend, mother, sister, lover, whomever. To save that person, she binded her own soul to this person, to prevent their starseed from moving on to the galaxy cordon, and to do this she pleaded with Guardian Cosmos. With their souls binded, Queen Serenity felt the pull of a planet's soul pushing to bind with her and this starseed(Silver crystal)'s soul.

(If you've ever seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, imagine how Yue was able to live because the moon spirit decided to share it's life force with her, and when it took it back, she died.)

The planet wanted to, originally, bind it’s soul with Queen Serenity because of her selfless act but instead because she bound her soul to the Silver Crystal, she blocked her starseed and it was forced to bind to the Silver Crystal where it still felt the pull of Queen Serenity’s soul because of their connection.

Which is why, a Sailor Moon was never supposed to exist, because although the bind is irreversible, the planet refused to turn Usagi into a senshi.

The only way the silver crystal starseed could gain a body, is by Queen Serenity taking the starseed into her body, and 9 months later, giving her dearest person new life. The star seeds new body becomes her daughter which is why Princess Serenity does not have a father. Like the Virgin Mary, and she gave birth on the moon, which is why Usagi has a crescent moon mark. (Those born on the planet can have the insignia of their planet. Which explains Queen Serenity.

Only after Usagi’s sorrow an remembering the Moon, the Silver Millennium and her mother had she been able to become Sailor Moon, because the moon finally accepts her.

The fact that Queen Serenity’s soul is binded to Usagi’s is why she was never reborn and why her memories were stored into the Palace on the Moon Kingdom, so she can always be with her daughter, not just through their bond but through all the memories they got to share together.

Side head canon: Only the senshi, Mamoru, and Usagi can see the spirit of the moon, because to me, the computer program and memory act as a powerbase for Queen Serenity’s soul bound to Usagi, can be seen like a ghost. Usagi has her soul bonded to her, so she sees her, and since Mamoru and the senshi are bonded to Usagi, they see what she does and Chibiusa through bloodline.

The original intention behind the Silver Millennium was not just to unite the kingdoms in peace and harmony, that was a given of what she wanted, but was really because she wanted the senshi, the inner and the outer senshi to bond with Usagi, hoping the moon would eventually be able to open up to her daughter and become a true Sailor Senshi, and showed how special and important being a Sailor Senshi is by working with the Senshi. Giving them purposes, because perhaps they were lost a lot like Galaxia had been. She gifted them with castles, and they became Royal Status, and they each had a reason to be a Sailor Senshi hoping to woo the moon and create friends for her daughter.

Queen Serenity knew Usagi would become a greater than her in power and status not because she can see the future which is why it’s so vague. Only Queen Serenity knows Usagi would become a Sailor Senshi, and who Usagi had been in a past life before Queen Serenity gave her rebirth.

I've got new headcanon, but this time it isn't one of my long ones. I'm still working on that actually. One thing you notice about Sailor Moon is that it mixes elements of super-advanced technology with magic. I remember reading that there was a supercomputer on the Moon, and I also remember Ami's super-advanced visor. That's a very technically advanced society.

But they also seemed to use a great deal of magic. So I wondered to myself, with that sort of mix, did the planets communicate with each other before the advent of space travel technology? I want to say they did. They did so with the introduction of a type of magic-based space vessel.

And since I've been taking bits of inspiration from constellations, I name these ships the Argo ships, after the former constellation Argo Navis (now broken into three, Carina, Puppis, and Vela). The Argo in Greek myth was a fantastic ship used by Jason to get the Golden Fleece. It could hold like 50 men, which was fantastic in those days as most boats were small, carved from a single tree trunk. I couldn't think of a better name.

Does that sound good to you guys?

My own personal heacannons:

#1: The Inner Senshi had lovers during the Silver Millennium; it's just that they were shattered all over the mutli-verse by Queen Serenity.

#2: The Inner Senshi were originally a lot more powerful during the Silver Millennium, but due to each of them failing an important mission, to which Queen Serenity deems to be the ultimate betrayal and has them reincarnate, erasing their memories and keeping their powers at first stage.

#3: And #2 is the reason why Metallia's attack on the Moon Kingdom was so successful.

It's highly unlikely Queen Serenity would try to hurt the senshi in anyway shape or form. The moon family wouldn't betray the senshi and kill their lovers. I dunno why you think the moon family is evil and would hurt them, they are like family.
