| Ooh I do have a question! How do you go about choosing your images? Not just your main image, but your background ones? Like the flower in this one? |

Good Question! I actually meant to talk about this! ^^ There are many different PNGS out there, when I'm searching from what I would like to have, I always take into account their personality, for me personally I think cosmos is stunning and graceful so I associate flowers with her, I also wanted to use a flower that was similar in color and balanced well. I actually tried a few other flowers, such as roses (white), White Lilies, and some other white flowers I'm not sure what they are called. I ended up seeing this image in my folder and realizing it was exactly what I needed ^^ |

| Mine! And my question of the day, what makes you decide to create a drop shadow in the method used versus using the drop shadow option under layer styles? I've done your method many times before on various projects for school and other things and i don't remember why i do things so I'm just curious. xD |

| Because I learned it this way first mostly, but I still do it because it's easier to edit and move around and change the color of it when it is it's own layer ^^ The thing with layer styles is that they in a way act separate from the layer they are on, it irks me some times.
Most of the time I use drop shadow for texts since I don't change them as much. ^^ |

That is correct, as said in the Day one Assignment, I suggested that you save it as a .psd ^^ I always save a .psd AND a png when I am finished. Thanks for the answers! I'll keep saving it as a .psd from now on! ^_^ |

| - Off Topic, but thanks Queenie!:
Off topic a bit, but I just wanted to thank Queenie for her information on how she made the background! It's so simple, yet I never would of thought of it ^^ I followed what you said about picking out the colors and then airbrushing it on the canvas. Then using the Gaussian Blur to make it all nice ^^ I played around a bit and made this! I think it's really pretty for my first try! Next time I'll do lighter colors and not do full strokes of colors so it's more well rounded, but Thanks Queenie!!!!

Oh don't worry about being off topic! This is a classroom! I always encourage questions and extra stuff <3 I think for a first try it's really good! I think the images you could use with it might be a bit limited, I'd probably blur it a smidge less. If you'd like I can post some examples of some of my faves (which aren't mine) another thing you can do it take an image and blur it. |

| Just to clarify, on why the images you can use with it might be limited.
You'll notice that in the Cosmos image most of them are light purples and blues and whites. Most of the time I'd recommend only using 1 color spectrum that are along the some color tone and temperature.
If you use too many colors it ends up looking muddy or brownish ^^ |

| January 05, 2014 - Assignment #4 Due January 06 by 8pm PST
- We are going to add a new vibrancy layer today. Look for this symbol and click on it, then on "vibrancy".
- (Another way to do this is to click on Layers - New Adjustment Layer (Adjustments) - Vibrancy
- The Vibrancy is set to "+92" and the Saturation is set to "+17".
- Post a screenshot or the image.
That is all for today. A few notes on today's lesson. If you are using Gimp, I can not seem to find consistent information on if this is available and where. It's seems as though 2.8 MAY come with an option like this, but I was unable to find one. The reason I chose to add vibrancy to this image is because I for one enjoy bold colors, and secondly because they causes natural contrast. Before we added the adjustment it was leaning towards "monocolor" rather than bold. Most humans will always enjoy and prefer things with contrast in them, whether between colors or the light and dark areas. You CAN go too much into the "contrast" area, when that happens you start loosing definition in your subject, either washing them out or blacking them out. Almost 95% of my graphics are touched up with Vibrancy and Saturation. Of the Two, Saturation is always the one I change the least. |

| I forgot to mention! That this Vibrancy Level should be the top most layer, above all the image layers we have so far. From now on, we will be adding new layers on top of these. |

| I feel like mine doesn't look like the end image o.o Like it's tooo? vibrant? But maybe that's because later on the other layers and effect will change it xD - Spoiler:

| So, should I just set the Saturation to +17 and leave the Vibrancy out? (I'm using GIMP) |

| @Diana - We still have 2 more layers to go on top of it ^^ So it will match the final one once we have done that. @Princess Moon - I don't know how your program works, so What I would do is try to emulate what the other students are posting. If you have saturation I would definitely try upping that a little. I would also explore your program to learn if there is an option ^^ |

| Okie so I achieved a similar effect using the GIMP program! It's not exactly the same, but it's good enough I think.
What I did is go to Colors --> Hue/Saturation --> Turned the Saturation to 17. Then I went to Colors --> Levels --> And messed around with the middle slider a little bit until it looked like all the others. (About .90 I think) Hope this helps! |
