I was re-reading the Stars arc in the manga, and I caught something odd. All of the sailor guardians appeared, except for Usagi's. And then Guardian Cosmos shows up IN FRONT OF USAGI. Usagi asks her who she is, and she replies, "I am Guardian Cosmos, the Holy Spirit and Guardian of the Cosmos Seed". And then she goes on to say that the Queen brought a star's shell to the cauldron that was "similar to Sailor Moon's shine".

So why would Guardian Cosmos appear in front of Usagi and tell her this. If I recall correctly the sailor guardians said that they were the guardians of their respective senshi's sailor crystal/star seed.

Um, so what does this mean for Usagi? Is Guardian Cosmos Usagi's sailor guardian? She's not the guardian of the cauldron, but rather she's inside it, much like Usagi and her friends were.

Who is Sailor Cosmos?
Is Guardian Cosmos Sailor Moon's sailor guardian?

lemme see if i can answer this from memory but as i recall sailor cosmos is supposed to be the ultimate sailor moon. i believe she's from the future and was in the same situation as sailor moon but instead of fighting chaos she ran away to the past and looked for sailor moons help therefore asking her to kill sailor galaxia who is now engulfed my chaos.

Woah. You just totally blew my mind. I guess I never really thought about the implications of Guardian Cosmos showing up in front of Sailor Moon like the other guardians did for their respective Sailor Soldiers.

My theory on Cosmos is that Cosmos is a descendent of the Neo Millennium, but not necessarily related to Sailor Moon. She is from the future (for sure) and does come back to warn Sailor Moon about being a coward and running away from the fight with Galaxia (like Cosmos did) but I don't think she's the same person as Usagi. Since the Moon - Cosmos lines are joined, maybe Guardian Cosmos is Sailor Moon's sailor guardian.

Because we have a separate thread for the discussion of Sailor Cosmos, I do not think we should have one here as well. So we do not have repeated discussion, perhaps you could link that question to the Sailor Cosmos thread?

As for the Guardian Cosmos, it is odd though, to me, that Sailor Cosmos' Guardian (if that is her guardian at all), does not look like her. It seems that Guardian Cosmos is literally the guardian of the Cosmos, just like Pluto is the guardian of time and space. Perhaps Guardian Cosmos has no relation to the Sailor Senshi Cosmos, but instead to the object of the Cosmos.

However, as I had stated in the other thread, it seems that Sailor Cosmos had lost a bit of herself over the centuries. She confesses how she was alone in the future and lost the will and courage of Eternal Sailor Moon. I believe this to be true and why she could not defeat Chaos in the future. Thinking along this vein, it would make sense to me that her gaurdian no longer physically resemble her as the other Senshi do with their guardians. Sailor Cosmos lost herself, perhaps her loss of Eternal Sailor Moon's essence caused her guardian to have an odd split with her [Sailor Cosmos] as well, which is why they are separated in a way, no longer resembling one another either.

Haha, it was mostly asking if Guardian Cosmos was Usagi's senshi guardian. I didn't mean for it to get off topic.

But we never really get clarity concerning Usagi's star seed. It's just the gizenshou, and then poof, Guardian Cosmos comes in. It's certainly something to think about.

That's a REALLY cool theory! But I think it's stated that Guardian Cosmos is the guardian of the Galaxy Cauldron and the Cosmos Seed, rather than the guardian of a Sailor Senshi.

Maybe her guardian just didn't feel like showing up? Or Guardian Cosmos was like "we don't need you". XD Haha that would be the funny way of looking at it.

But its an interesting theory. And brings a lot more questions up. I don't think we'll ever really find an answer until someone forces Naoko to answer everything. XD

She was not the guardian of the cauldron, but the cosmos seed, much like the guardians were of their respective senshi's crystal.

Now, if Usagi's wasn't the cosmos crystal, what's it doing there just chilling and floating in the cauldron?

And what does guardian cosmos actually mean, if anything, by what she said to usagi regarding her birth from the cauldron?

She said "similar shine". Maybe she's referring to the shine of the cosmos crystal, and Usagi's. Rather than just like OH U LOOK FAMILIAR. HAVE U BEEN HERE B3FOUR?

Perhaps over time, the gizenshou takes another form? Say it evolves into the cosmos crystal. Hey, it's not impossible, we all saw through the manga and anime how it would change shape depending on the situation.
