General Information Name: Prince Nephrite
Gender: Male
Birthday: July 9th
Age: 20
Birthplace: Western Lands of Earth
Physical Description: Nephrite has long chestnut brown hair that falls in subtle waves to the middle of his back. He generally has his hair loose and flowing, though sometimes it can get in the way when he is fighting, so he ties it back in a loose ponytail with a bit of fabric. His eyes are a blue grey and his skin is pale. He has a very strong physique, musclar and tall, though he doesn’t spend as much time training as the other Shitennou. Nephrite normally wears a grey tunic suit that is embroidered in orange trim, and he wears black boots that reach up to his knees, whilst a black belt rests around his waist. He also has an outfit that he wears for more formal occasions, which is a white tunic with gold trim, and black armored leggings and multiple belts with a sword and scabbard attached to his waist. Sometimes he wears a cloak as well, but he feels as though he is copying Kunzite when doing so, so he doesn’t wear one often.
Personality: Nephrite is a very proud person, and has his own little code of honor that he lives by. He expects everyone else to live up to his expectations as well. He likes to have people adore him and he can often be found boasting about an adventure he was a part of, or something that he thinks will earn him favor. He strives to be the best in everything he does, and he feels like he constantly has to compete against Kunzite to get better. He is of lower rank that Zoisite as well, but this doesn't bother him as much simply because Nephrite thinks that he is a more noble fighter than Zoisite.
He can become moody very quickly if he feels he's messed up, and he's incredibly passionate. Once in his moody demeanor, he can be a pain to be around until he gets past whatever that caused him to be that way in the first place. He tends to get himself into trouble because is very hot-headed and lets his emotions rule him. He doesn't hold back and doesn't think thinks through properly before acting out. But at the same time, he thinks he is doing everything perfectly and logically and believes whole-heartedly that he will reach his desired outcome without fail.
He has a love for the mystical, and even though he has no interest in learning about anything else, he goes out of his way to learn about the stars and magic and all of the things that seem ethereal and interesting to him. If it doesn't interest him, however, he wants nothing to do with it.
He cares about his brothers, his comrades, even if he believes there is a strong rivalry between them that he has to win. He cares about all of them, though he has more affection for little Jadeite and goes out of his way to help him with training and the things he feels Jadeite needs help with (even if Jadeite doesn't want that help).
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Nephrite claims that he has certain 'feelings' that he receives from the stars. He doesn't call them premonitions, but it is implied that these feelings are supposedly close to premonitions or visions of the future. He claims these feelings aid him in knowing if something is a good idea or not, or whether he should get involved with something. But in reality these 'feelings' are more in his head than being of an other-wordly origin. Most everyone around him knows that Nephrite is essentially making things up, but Nephrite believes in his 'feelings' and uses them to justify his actions, and doesn't stop even when these 'feelings' get him into trouble.
After years of constant training with his brothers, Nephrite has become fair swordsman. He has no fear when in a fight and he is generally the first in the fray without thinking things through properly. Despite this, he is strong and even though he is not especially agile, his pure raw strength and drive make up for it. Because of this, he can keep his own in a fight, though he can never seem to beat Kunzite or Endymion during their training sessions. Nephrite also has some interest in trying to see if he can learn magic, but thus far he has not been successful. History: Nephrite was born the oldest and only surviving son to one of the Four Kings of Terra. His father was an incredibly proud man and when it was heard that King Aethlios and Queen Kalyke had given birth to a healthy young prince, Nephrite's father, being the proud man that he was, decided that his four year old son would be the best companion for the little new prince, because how could there ever be anyone better than his own son?
But after the long trip, Nephrite's father found that the other three Kings of Terra had had the same exact thought as him. Harsh words were spoken, and tempers flared. Soon, war was rumored to begin as the Four Kings wanted the honor for theirselves. Earth was on the verge of a huge tragedy. But it was only because of Helios, a young High Priest of Elysian, that the plans for war were called to a halt with a very simple and effective solution. It was a way to unify Earth, by having all four of the Kings of Terra bring the new prince a companion, someone who would grow up alongside the new prince. They would grow together and become close and bring stability and security to Earth.
Nephrite's father was quite pleased by this prospect, as were the other Kings of Terra, and the solution was put in place. At the time, Nephrite still had a year to wait before he could be sent to live with the new prince, but during that year his father ground in the idea that he was to not allow the other princes to be better than him. He would be the best and he couldn't let shame come to their family name. Being the only son, Nephrite was spoiled and given whatever he wanted in that last year before he would leave his family behind. He grew accustomed to the adoring praise and love he received from his father and his servants.
When he turned 5 years of age, he was sent to the kingdom as planned and there Nephrite found himself feeling as though he were constantly in the shadow of Kunzite. Kunzite had been there the whole time Nephrite had been at home and there was a certain amount of familiarity already. So Nephrite worked harder to become even better and more likeable than Kunzite, though all of his plans never truly worked out the way he wished.
Zoisite came to them soon after that. He was not someone that Nephrite could understand properly and the two seemed to butt heads a lot, especially whenever Zoisite would insult him or tease him. Eventually Nephrite found his footing and was able to give back proper retorts to Zoisite, but somehow Zoisite always seems much better at this than him.
Then Jadeite joined them and Nephrite found someone that he seemed to bond with quite easily. It wasn't something that had happened to him before, and Jadeite was so small and young that it reminded Nephrite of the brother he never got to know. When was younger, his mother had passed away in childbirth alongside the baby brother that Nephrite had been so excited to meet. So Jadeite sort of filled in that void. Nephrite looks out for him, and always is offering to help Jadeite with his training and insists even when Jadeite explicitly says he doesn't want help. Nephrite turns a blind eye whenever Jadeite gets annoyed and believes that all progress Jadeite makes is all thanks to the help Nephrite has given him.
Throughout the years, the boys grew close to each other and Nephrite was able to reach the second lowest rank, much to his chagrin. He is only superior to Jadeite and sometimes he can be condescending to the younger boy without even realizing it. But Helios's plan has worked, since all of the princes are as close as brothers and do everything together.
Through Nephrite still has the ambition of becoming the first ranked general at some point.
Storyline Specific Information: Earth Kingdom Adventure: Endymion and his Shitennou go off on a tour of the Kingdom as they have been invited to attend a highborn wedding. But instead of heading out with guards and servants, they've decided to go it alone and to take on the guise of a different person altogether as they travel through all the adventures the Kingdom has in store for them.
RP Sample: Nephrite could still feel the heat on his cheeks and he did not make eye contact with anyone as he passed them by. He was heading straight to him room. Not running away, never that. He was simply waiting for a tactical advantage.
Yes, that was it.
He reached his room in record time, and he closed and locked the door behind him. He stood there, hand still on the handle as he glared daggers into the wood. "Damn you, Zoisite," he muttered under his breath.
Stupid perfect Zoisite. He always had to ruin everything. It had been going so well in the tavern, too. The serving girl had been gorgeous, with gold curls and tanned skin and a bright smile. She laughed at all the right times and she leaned in close at all of the suspenseful parts. It had been perfect.
Until Zoisite came in and claimed that Nephrite's whole heart-warming story was a complete lie.
So what if he had... embellished a little? It was still based on truth! It didn't matter how much Nephrite had tried to explain that Zoisite was wrong, the serving girl had quickly lost interest and now that she had noticed Zoisite, she couldn't keep her eyes off of him.
And the worst part was that it was no surprise. All girls became enamored with Zoisite as soon as they noticed him.
Nephrite realized that he had yet to move from the entrance of his chambers, so he forcefully let go of the door handle and turned away. He strode in and sat down heavily into his cushioned chair positioned in front of the largest window. Next to him was a desk full of books about the stars and the universe. Nephrite had read them all at least twice, and was currently in the middle of rereading his favorite, but even that had no lure.
He needed to come up with a plan to get revenge on Zoisite. There was no way Nephrite would allow such a blemish on his reputation go unpunished.
He spent the rest of the day in his rooms, plotting.
