dose nephrite have a condition? was it to censor the blood? was it from the planets.

| Boring answer: Different animators, different ideas of what the Shittenou's blood should look like.
Headcanon answer: The Shittenou's blood all comes in different colors! Nephrite's green, Jadeite's blue, Zoisite's used to be orange but since he's such a fanboy of Kunzite he dyed it so that it would match with Kunzite's red blood!
Slightly more believeable answer: The plants caused it to look that way. |

| I always thought it was because there was just so much blood that they colorized it to make it less traumatic? I've seen this in a different anime that I love, where they alter the blood to be a vivid blue instead of red.
I really like the idea of the plants making it look like that though :3 Like maybe his blood was poisoned? |

| Swifty darling, you forgot to include 'theory' in your thread title.
I added it for you. Just make sure you add the appropriate title next time, k?

| Censorship.
When Nintendo released Ocarina of Time on the N64, the first edition featured Ganondorf (the main villain) spewing red blood when he was defeated - however, it came across as too violent and some parents disliked that a game with an E rating had blood in it. So, in later releases, it was changed to green blood to soften the impact. All future incarnations of the game have featured this change.
Green/Black/dark blood is universally seen throughout media as being 'monster blood'. Green in itself is also a less 'violent' color - it is found abundantly throughout the natural world and is considered as less mentally traumatic. Red is the color of natural blood, obviously, and rightfully conveys trauma and danger. Poisonous flora and fauna often feature shades of red as warning flags. So! Nephrites blood is green to allow the traumatic scene to take place in a kids show. |

| For some reason though, Toei was ok showing the Sailor Soldiers' blood as red in episode 45 and they didn't have a problem showing Galaxia's blood as red. |

Nephrite was bleeding a lot more than any other character at any other point in the series though. I don't remember there being any blood in episode 45 though? |

| Hm, I agree with a collection of ideas here. Green blood is usually used for monsters. I think perhaps to show/prove them as non-human creatures, a separation from human beings (and maybe less traumatizing when seeing their blood?) I know in the American DBZ blood was often turned black so as to make it less frightening (censorship again) so that could probably be the reason in this scene.
I think that it might have been used to show Nephrite as a non-human creature. I also like to think that his blood was shown as "tainted" because he was evil, or more so because he was poisoned. To me that makes the most sense because he was stabbed by these poisonous-like organic spears that seemed to merge themselves into his body, therefore marring his blood.
Although Louchan's headcannon theory is a cute one. ^^ |

| I'm... guessing it was a stylistic choice. He isn't meant to be human, then again nether were the other three, all of whom had red blood to my knowledge. I'm guessing it's nothing to do with him (like he had a condition or was from a different place to them) and more an artistic choice to make him stand out from the human characters at the time...? |

| I agree with the suggestion that it was likely green because Neprhite was poisoned at the time. |
