I think my favorite might be the grass one though, because I have this cute image in my head of this normal-type chipmunk-kinda-pokemon who wanted to be grass, so he goes around wearing a magical hat that grants him grass powers.

But really, I love all three of them. This hasn't happened since Totodile/Chikorita/Cyndaquil xD

I assume it's for the 3DS too, which I realize now that is a problem because I don't have the 3DS ;-; I'm quite happy with my regular DS. The ONLY games I'd play on the 3DS as of now would be Zelda OoT remake and these new games (but won't be available until Oct. anyway xD)

It is for the 3DS. It was bound to happen and plus it's great on Nintendo part because people who love pokemon who dont have a 3DS will go out and by one. I'm not going to lie this strategy works because when I was kid I asked for the gamecube because is saw the Wind Waker commercial. Also I did get a 3DS for a future pokemon game. I can't live without my pokemon.

So I'm going with the fire type! It's sooo cute and I pray it's final form won't be part fighting. One was enough wake up gramefreak!

It really does look promising. You can tell just by looking at the starters. Plus those two legendaries looked badasss!!! Whatever version has the deer I'm going with it! On another note they make catching wild pokemon and battling look awesome!!

I'm really looking forward to it as well! Sucks that I have to get a 3DS now, but oh well.

Haha yes it shall be amazing. The battles will now actually have backgrounds, will look like Pokemon Stadium, etc. it'll be so epic! I'm probably most likely going to start with the fire type because adorable. And I'll get X if that's the game with the pretty four legged Pokemon. Yay!

I just realize since this is probably gen 6 that means there will be a new anime series for this. Poor Ash he'll still be 10 and ask how do you capture a pokemon. I really wish they would retire him and have in the game characters be in the anime series.

Oh!!! I might have to get this one! I never played Gen 5 after I didn't finish my copy of Soul Silver. Maybe though the 3D graphics will be enough of a refresh that I might be interested again.

Random thought: tbh, though I am really excited for the next generation games to come out, they honestly look like fan made Pokemon. You know what I mean? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my Pokemon and I don't ever usually have some sort of complaint, but I just feel like these look more...fan based...as if they aren't real. They're cute, what we've seen so far, but yeah.

Still stoked over the graphics, the fact that the battles will be highly improved and will look like Pokemon Stadium, but better. Yay!

Also, I saw this suggestion on the serebii forum: it may be possible that customizing your character you play is an option. What made this idea come to light was due to the fact that in the trailer for the upcoming games, you can see the protagonist male player looking in a mirror. So some people went, "hmm, perhaps you can customize your player character. Because what other purpose would the mirror serve?"

Any thoughts on that?

I was thinking that too. I think that's a great idea to customize your character. In the Harvest Moon 3DS game they let you do that.

Guys a 3DS is totally worth it... I've been so depressed since mine got stolen. I can play all my old DS games and there are some awesome 3DS games coming out. Nintendo doesn't disappoint when it comes to handhelds (*coughnotsayinganythingaboutconsolescough*).


Annnnd this makes me wanna go out and buy Pokemon White (since the BF has Black) and start playing it...

Ohhhh, I hope you can customize your character! Dude, Mayo, I thought the same thing, they are making these SO fast. I like the fire one the best, I'm not a fan of the water one which is disappointing because I usually pick the water starter for type advantages.

Dude, that's how I feel with every generation :/ I think it's just the fact that nothing beats the old ones. Some of the newer guys are still cool, but ever since like gen 2 I've just been like... really.... -.- Although gen 5 did an AWESOME job.

I love pokemon no matter. There are good pokemon in very gen and there are bad pokemon in every gen. I hate when people say pokemon past gen 2 are not creative. Well how is muk and grimer creative? There are just a pile of slime.

Eh. I disagree with people that say past generation 2 are not creative or "real Pokemon". It's dumb. I mean I DO feel more of a "fan made" feel to this 6th generation, but that's not to say they won't be good Pokemon, for sure. There's only so many ideas you can do, anyway though. So...all Pokemon are real Pokemon. If you don't like the generations past Kanto and Johto, your loss.

Regardless, I love all Pokemon and every generation always warms up to me in the end, even if there's some Pokemon I do not like.

My suggestion though, Minene, if you don't like it, don't participate in this thread. Simple, ne? ^^

This thread isn't really for discussing that aspect of Pokemon. It's really just to discuss the new upcoming games. Its ok not to like it, but I feel its all going off topic when we start discussing which generation we like/dislike. Maybe save that for another thread?

I'd like to have this thread stay more informational if possible that way others don't have to muck through people saying whether or not they like a generation.

guys I honestly don't know that much about Pokemon. I have played some of the games quite recently and I quite like them. But all I do is pick the cute ones, name theme cute things and walk around aimlessly, who does not get tired of that!?, but everything is too hard in these games, I don't actually get how you can finish these without it taking 8 months, and giving up at the end because the Champion is just so ridiculously hard.

However, I do understand that there is a loooot of games and the series has been going on for many years. This is not a bad thing and honestly if you don't like the new stuff. Its not your problem. Japan is a very creative nation, they are capable of doing something for decades even with it not going stale, at least not going stale in Japan. Detective Conan. Doraemon. Glass Mask. Sailor Moon even, and Pokemon included. All much beloved and ridiculously long-running. Ideas are infinite as long as the effort is there. And as long as there is a market in Japan, you will probably not see the end of the Pokemon series. So please don't be a grouch and sit in here and complain about things going on to long. If you want things to be short and snappy, keep as far far far far far away from Japan as possible and head for British Television, everything's like six episodes there (except Doctor Who but there's always one rebel). Britain's like ALL THE MINISERIES! (I bought the BBC Jane Austen Collection recently because I'm that cool.)

You do NOT have to like the Pokemon Games, old or new, just please don't complain about it to people who are fans. Having over 600 pokemon will only affect you if you let it affect you. If you want there only to be 200 play just the first two generations, no point in just complaining about something millions of people adore. Lets also not forget that the world does not revolve around our generation. Every year we grow a little older and our interests become more refined and less open, but every year there's new people, why not let them have fresh new pokemon for their generation?

If you want pokemon to end on LeafGreen. Fine. No one is stopping to you. There are very very very very very many people who do the same thing. However this is a thread for Pokemon *checks* X and Y? So if you don't want X & Y to exist in your world. Ignore this thread, you don't HAVE to comment on it, right? I will not allow on my threads people to have their fun and enjoyment over something new and exciting soured just because one person doesn't agree. So please please please please please please if the new Pokemon does upset or irritate you, please find somewhere else to discuss that, we just want positivity here.


(on another note did anyone realise that X and Y aren't colours or gemstones... they're going to end up the Amazoness Quartet of the Pokemon world... If they make new versions I wonder XX and XY? or Z? or is Japan just doing that thing where they toss abstract letters around... and the fire type is d'awwwww I will probably get this just for that.

I suppose that means we really are getting a new evolution for Eevee? Did anyone else see the promo with the eight Eevees (Seven evolutions + the original) and one silhouette for the special with the next movie? I would kind of like to see one Eevee of every type... If pokemon ends it should be at least till after that or did they already reveal it. I don't really keep up with this stuff, its not Shiori Tamai / Titli Nihaan (yes those people are in the same category)...

I think there's always something new and fun to find in each of the games, and sometimes I buy them, sometimes I don't and the generations get muddled in my head most times, and I definitely know more about the first generation (ODDISH <3) than any of the others. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the other generations <3 <3 I think that's part of the fun, that each game is kind of like starting over, exploring new places, finding new pokemon you've never seen and rediscovering the fun in a tried-and-true gaming mechanism.

Anyway :3

I think the 3rd game (If there is a third game and I'm thinking it's probably likely that there will be), will be called "Z". I like the idea of the three games being called X Y Z because those are the three coordinates you need to make something 3D and these are the first 3D pokemon games :3 It just makes sense!
