You know I saw these images circulating on instagram yesterday and I actually couldn't believe it. It didn’t make any sense for Tamashii Nations to release the star locket when just a couple days back Bandai announced theirs. So to get more information I looked around and found this site: http://hobby-maniax.com/archives/20326 According to this report at the Tamshii Nation 2014 event they had several items for display, one of which was the star locket. It seems, however, that the item is meant to be kept somewhat out of the public’s eye since the report mentions that photographs of the display for the star locket at this event were prohibited. So more than likely these images of the locket are leaked images.

This honestly just shows how money crazed these companies are and how eager they are to profit from SM fans. I mean it's great that Tamashii Nations is releasing the star locket for those who weren't able to obtain the one released by Bandai but personally just seeing how close these two star lockets were announced is kind of insulting. Honestly I feel sorry for the collector who plans on buying most of the items that are being released since I'm sure by the end of it they'll have several copies of the same item by different companies. Another part of me also feels like I shouldn't be complaining since we moonies have gone through years without a single item of merchandise being released and now that there's an influx of items I feel like we should be grateful. LOL

Just by the pictures the star locket released by Bandai is more to my liking. I like the chain on Bandai's since it has little gold stars and I also like the gem in the middle of the locket. I wonder if the star locket that'll be released by Tamashii Nations will also be a manual wind up locket or just one that plays when the locket is opened.

All of the PROPLICAs use batteries, so the Star Locket PROPLICA will likely be electronic as well. I'm unsure which one would look better, I wish we could see both at the same time so we can figure out what we want. From first glance I like the look of the Moonlight Memories more as well, but that was an ad picture whereas the PROPLICA is an actual product picture (not an official photoshoot). So it's kind of hard to compare. Most of the hardcore collectors will probably wind up buying both, but nobody has to. I sure hope you guys are happy with the ones you've ordered and can skip the PROPLICA.

You do make a good point about it being battery operated.
I guess we'll just have to decide which one we like better when they're both released. LOL
In any case it wouldn't be hard to re-sell if you prefer one to another.

I feel similarly Roro. My one saving grace is that I had ordered the Bandai from a website and done "pay later with paypal" only to get an e-mail that they weren't accepting it and my order wouldn't be completed! (Well why put it as an option then!) I'm torn between which will end up looking and sounding better. I've heard people saying that they expect better sound quality from the Proplica and I'm at least glad that it's likely to be more widely available so I don't miss out entirely, but I AM sad that if I want to round out my Moonlight Memory compact collection with the Bandai locket, I'll likely have to pay a high price since it is sold out everywhere.

FYI the PROPLICA one isn't scheduled to be released until June 2016.

Well, that softens the blow of my messed up order through Big In Japan, I suppose. I'd assume if CD Japan can't get their hands on the locket, smaller retailers won't be able to honor their orders either.

I'm kidding. I'm sure they're a great company.

THIS IS WHY I HAVE PROBLEM WITH BUYING ITEMS FROM JAPAN. In general, Japanese products are usually more expensive than American products. In addition to this, the companies that usually have these products are usually in Japan themselves which sometimes makes it so restrictive for foreigners to buy their products. On top of this there are always outrageous shipping prices to go along with these orders.

I'll see if I can find the star locket from somewhere else. If not I'll be buying the PROPLICA. I'm sure the PROPLICA won't be bad since their previous products in the line have looked gorgeous.

Wow although this is fanmade it's actually made pretty well. Even when the locket's speaker is muffeled by the box it's still pretty audiable. This would be a great alternative for those who want something animated. I have a feeling that the Proplica star locket that was shown is still going through some work though so perhaps we might get something that's similar to the anime.

If you haven't bought from Yeasia and are curious about their service they're pretty reliable. I've order some things from them and I've been pleased with all my orders. Honestly the price isn't much different from other sites like CDJapan if you include the shipping and convert yen to dollars. Since it is "free shipping" the orders do take a bit of time to arrive but it all depends on where they ship the product from since they're based in different countries (Hong Kong, Japan, S Korea, USA).

I placed an order there just now Roro but I am not very hopeful. If even CD Japan can't get their hands on them, I am not sure YesAsia can either. Especially since the letter from CD Japan seems to indicate that this is a decision Bandai has made, not an issue on their end.

It was kind of an impulse buy the first time around and all of these extra steps to buy it again are annoying.
As a consumer it shouldn't be this hard to buy a product plus all the other things we have to pay for just because we don't live in Japan.
I honestly don't know what Bandai is thinking. LOL
