So thoughts on Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 1! (no talking about preview for ep 2 please)

Personally I freaking LOVED IT. I will grant a smidge of the animation was stuff, but on the other hand SO MANY THINGS WERE PRETTY!!! And there were so many scenes I was LIKE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE MANGA OMG. It was so beautiful and I'm so glad I could be able to watch it and fully appreciate it <3


I am still working on voices, but over all I think I'll be very pleased. Curiously enough there was supposed to be a "spoiler" or a piece of plot information in the first episode that could only be added because the series was completed, however I didn't see anything unusual or giving away the plot.

Not specific to episode 1, but THAT OPENING guhhh

I loved the little bits of Sailor V sprinkled throughout, and it was all so prettyyyy. Those fairy tale type graphics were SO GORGEOUS.

I was actually hesitant towards the animation style but seeing the first episode it's not as bad as I thought it would be which I'm happy for. What I didn't really, though, like was the CGI that was used in SM's transformation sequence.

I REALLY loved the episode! It's so close to the manga, it's all I ever wanted!
Everything was great to me. Transformation is GORGEOUS, the opening song is flawless (omg the lyrics), the seiyuus (mainly Luna's), the flashback scenes were all very beautiful too. My only complaint is probably with Moon Tiara Boomerang, there was no real impact on the monster, it was a little lackluster to me. But anyways, I'M SO HAPPY WITH SAILOR MOON CRYSTAL!

Hulu didn't show the next episode preview. I was very pleased with everything. The music, voice acting, the animation. Just everything. The pacing is somewhat fast but fast enough for the audience to keep up. my favorite part had to be the moon tiara boomerang part. I just loved the music and it threw me off guard because I was used to hearing moon tiara action that I forgot about moon tiara boomerang attack.

IT WAS SO WORTH STAYING UP. THIS EPISODE WAS GREAT.

I did have one major problem and it was this:



Seriously what's going on with his mask/eyes. That just looks weird.

Aaaah, I just watched the first half so far, loved every seconds of it! Since the story is over, now, Takeuchi could add stuff that wouldn't be in the story before later, which I love. Usagi never getting dreams of her past life until she awakened always bothered me, glad they could "fix" that!

You guys have no idea how much I love the "Eye Contact of Fate" trope. I wonder if it will be an UsaMamo only thing or if Usagi will also get it when she meets with the other soldiers. (When Ami turns around after Luna jumped on her, when Rei throw her Ofuda at Usagi, When Mako save Usagi from the car... You know, that stuff.)

I'm enjoying a lot the usage of "shoujo flowers" for Usagi's internal monologues! The Sailor V game also looked really cool. I also thought it was interesting to see Jadeite create Molly's Mom Morga. In the manga, we know his youmas are clay dolls he makes himself, but it is never really shown.

Also I'm in love with the new Haruna.

OH! Yes The flowers and the opening and ending and middle commercial inserts were fabulous! I really love those!!


I think my only two eh's the transformation and the ending but over all they aren't ever real "problems".

After almost started yelling at 6:00 am in the morning because crunchyroll wasn't working and then switched to niconico. i just cried.

Everything is flawless
even the henshin sequence, it looks awesome, i know it's 3d but a GOOD 3d, not creepy precure 3D
the first encounter of Mamo and Usagi was....*SQUEEEEEEE*
suffering because i'm gonna have to wait 2 weeks to watch episode 2 >_>

So, second part!
I was worried about how they would animate the "I'm Sailor V" dream, but I'm glad they added the "SilMil Flashback" part, and left Motoki out, eheh.

The music during the henshin, during Usagi's battle against the people Morga brainwashed, and many others sounded a lot like something out of Precure. (Well, of course, it's the same compositor for the BGM, but damn, he did a marvelous job with Sailor Moon!)

Wish they brought back the broken bottle. I think I'm liking the new Tuxedo Kamen's voice a lot.
The ending... Well, I wish there was more to the PV than hand holding and hair, but the end was pretty cute. And the music, just great.

... So I guess Guardian became the official translation for Senshi, eh? Have to admit I kind of miss "Soldier".

Where can I see the preview for Ep 2? :O

BTW, what happened to old Tuxedo Kame's seiyuu? D:

We're getting the Crystal Tokyo arc! I'm sure of it!

Ah, about the classmates: Umino doesn't have messy hair anymore. I think he was dropped in gel when he was a kid. I was glad to see Kuri and Yumiko again (though I wish Kuri was still a bit chubby like in the original anime) even though... there is something about their voices that irks me. As for Naru, still flawless.

I think Old Tuxedo Seiyuu didn't retake the role because Mamoru is younger than he was in the original anime.

Omg... All I can say is that they better make it to the Stars Arch! It is my favorite manga arch, and if they follow THIS closely to the manga, it is going to be awesome!

They've been paying so much attention to details in the manga that I can't see them putting that in just for the heck of it. We shall see in due time though.

Watching Moonguca is buffering.

A lot parts made me laugh. Mamoru you are such a dork at the end. Trying to be like Batman to impress Usagi?   

I'm only gripe is that there are times where there should have been moment and there wasn't. Like it would been nice to see how the brooch appeared or see Usagi gush about her brooch. I didn't want to see her butt animators! You are lazy! 

As a whole I was quite pleased. I'm not in love with it. I don't think I ever will unless they do a complete 180 and start to take their own spin on things. Please! Please do!!!!

i was really rather pleased with the episode, and liked most of it! except the transformation...much of that i didn't care for, but i've been over it.

and oh my gosh, i loved the "Destiny Meeting"!! and we can SEE(courtesy of the love bubbles around her face) the moment where Mamoru is surely thinking"k...kawaii..." and gaining feelings for usagi. <3 and i was quite happy that we still had silly moments, like when usagi slides down the stairs, and when she lands SPLAT on her face after stepping on luna. XD i also think Luna looks the same as ever, and fantaaastic! oh please naoko-sensei, include a human Luna somewhere in the anime!! i could imagine she would look quite nice in this style. it is indeed growing on me pleasantly.

and oh my god, the Serenity dress!!! i can't wait to see it completely, so preeettttyyy!! though there was no "I want pudding" comment about finding the princess now...T_T i liked that pun...

^ This pun was in Act 2, so there is a chance Usagi will do it then. Though, she does it during the "recap of Act 1 for those who missed last month's Nakayoshi" part, so I wonder if they'll do it this time?

First thought: Omg how long am I gonna have to look at these planets

I love how parts of it were more detailed and less vague, like when she took off her tiara and it became a boomerang instead of just like idk being weird. Just the little things, like when they showed the porch area right outside of the Tsukino house it was much more detailed.

Only complaint is that some of the lines were literally almost word for word the same as the old anime/manga. Like in the beginning when she says "Who makes an innocent girl stand outside?" I'm pretty sure that line was directly from something else. But oh well, very small complaint.

I LOOOVED the flashbacks to Serenity and Endymion. The title cards were BEAUTIFUL, and it was just so epic and beautiful and I'm in love <3<3<3

Omg I'm watching it right now before I go into my double shift at work. I'm totally geeking out right now!!! It's really awesome! I love the art. The only really big differences I see are the color of some people's hair. Also that was the perfect introduction of Mamoru. I'm so happy about that!
