For Australian Moonies and American fans who were disappointed in the video quality of Viz's release and have a region free DVD player, Madman is releasing Sailor Moon on DVD in Australia!  The Australian DVD release will contain extras but they haven't said what yet.  What I find most interesting about this release is that rather than simply using the already existing Viz masters, they're creating their own remastered release from scratch!  There's currently no plans for a Blu Ray release as they argue there's no true HD materials available to them to create a Blu Ray release for it.  But if it turns out well and have a compatible player, you might want to check out the Australian release: http://www.madman.com.au/news/an-update-on-our-sailor-moon-release/

I'm happy with my Viz DVDs, so I won't need this. Plus I probably don't have a compatible player for it.

This is interesting! I don't quite understand how it works? What do they mean "from scratch"? Like from the original animation cells??

I assume it means they're getting their own set of master copies from Toei and remastering it themselves instead of using the master copies Viz is using.
