Hello party planners and world reps!

This is the planning thread for the world fair event! Please do NOT post here UNTIL AFTER you have checked in in the check in thread. Failure to do so properly may result in you being automatically cut for not following simple directions.

Without further ado...

This event will be laid out more or less like Epcot - there will be a subboard for each area. Under your designated subboard (aka The United States, The UK, etc.) you will post everything you will be doing for the world fair event as a representative. Party planners that have not signed up but would like to help may help you organize whatever games/activities/information you wish to provide us all.

What we are generally looking for in this event:

~ Brief history of where you are from
~ What your culture is like
~ What your cuisine is like (recipes are a definite yes but not required)
~ Basic language (i.e. basic grammar/slang/etc.)
~ Games with your cultural influence if possible
~ Fun little quizzes or typical games (i.e. Guess the Image but based on objects from YOUR area)
~ Whatever else you can think of.

We will also be holding a video chat session! That might be broken down into a couple days worth for control so that way we don't have everybody going in and video chatting at once and causing chaos. How many people can be video chatting at once and sign ups will be determined at a later date!

The chat will be broken down according to best times, to expose people to different languages/accents/etc.

The fair will be held the final week of April! April 20th - 26th!

My area, depending on if we are splitting up the US, is either the US in whole or the East Coast =] I plan to bring some recipes, both desserts and meals! I love to cook and bake, so I think I'd be able to do this well ^^ I'd love to do a little Guess the Image game for stuff in my area too! It'd be fun ^^ I was thinking maybe a Bingo game with different items from around the US, but not sure if I'm allowed or if it'd take too long! I can also contribute some slang words and their meanings!!

This sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun!! I hope I did this right as well =O I wasn't too sure what you meant by 'what you plan to bring to the fair and the activity you want to do' O.O So I hope this is right xD If not let me know! I can add/delete parts if need be ^^

I was thinking mostly the same as what Kaya is doing, but for England. I also wanted to set up a little game of 'Guess the Image: Doctor Who Edition'. Mostly because it's probably one of the most successful British dramas out there that has spread worldwide. There would be little bumpers as prizes for winners I am allowed to do this. And of course, food and culture from England as well. I don't know what Rei is planning for Scotland, but if she wouldn't mind, maybe we could also feature something about UK as a whole apart from just our respective countries.

And of course, all the slang that is used throughout this country, mostly by today's youth.

These are good! Except bingo, yeah that might take a little too long, my dear. I think you, Kaya, can represent your area/the East coast as a whole, as well. I don't see that as being an issue.

And Pallas, those are fine. I think you and Jupiter doing something for the whole UK as well would be great, too.

besides Kaya, i'm not sure where the rest of the US members who are doing this are from. so i don't know if there is any other midwest people, but I'd want my to be focused on MN since there is alot of stuff that can be talked about..   and a gusse the images would work because there is alot of cool stuff  ("land marks" < oooh look fancy word..  )  to talk about and some of them have a nice history..  

and talking about the other midwest states would take away from that

I'm representing the Midwest as well ^^ I was planning on doing the Midwest as a whole but with a few things focused on Iowa because we have A LOT of Czechoslovakian influence around here ^^ Plus we're also known for the peppering of Amish communities here so I was gonna touch on that too ^^

I will be doing a lot of the same stuff as everyone else. Slang words and turn of phrases, brief history, a lot of recipes for both meals and desserts (cause food is a big thing around here), and and I was thinking of talking about some of the food that grows here naturally since we have some fruits and stuff that are native to here xD

You and Swifty can team up if you want. Probably would be a good idea.

Also remember there's other games that can be done besides guess the image

Maru & I are representing Dominican Republic together. She is gonna talk about history and culture, while I'll talk about cuisine and also I'm planning on making at least 2 games: Jigsaw with postcards from RD and a Word Search (probably with places and stuff from our country).

Also, Since I'm currently in Spain, I might do (If I get the time, I'll try my best) something about here~

Cool it's a start!

I representing Cincinnati, Ohio. It's heavily influenced by the German culture! I am going to do a brief history about the city, and what the German immigrants have done for the city! Plus I am going to share our chili recipe! Cincinnati has unique chili that make outsiders turn their heads. ^^ I was also like to talk to about our slang here. We are very different from Northern Ohioans.  Cincinnatians have an odd accent apparently. 

I would like to do a guess the image game from landmarks from my city. It won't be too hard for people who have never been to Cincinnati.

I'm curious, can I test out/debut one of our new games? =D Like Word Jumble? Or maybe a Guess the Food or something?

Well, I'll definitely be doing the following for my country:
- Brief history & culture, a bit on geography and stuff
- A bit on cuisine (probably no recipes though because I can't cook to save my life, unless you count instant noodles)
- Language stuff

I'm still thinking about the games. I might do puzzles of some of our landmarks. Quizzes are probably too hard since I don't expect anyone to know anything about us (we're not particularly famous for anything >_>)

I'm thinking of representing the southwest US which has connections with Mexico, but the US has 3 applicants, so I think we can have one more. The southwest US is a growing, thriving economy in the world scene and what would be great is to represent the geography, culture, cuisine and facts about the region. And Mexican-American contributions...like today is Cesar Chavez's birthday, the founder of United Farm Workers over 50 years ago.

I'm in the southern US, Tn, La, Ms, Al, Ga, all those. I know there are several overs in my neck of the woods like Brit. She and I were going to do something on La, since that we're she is but I've lived all over the southern US….We move a lot.. in fact we have another move in the very near future..

so for the puzzles, will each section have one?? so like one for the US, one for canda, ect ect..

or will we have one for the whole event

Unfortunately, I do not believe I will have the time to represent a section of the world in its entirety, but I do offer up a thread on Maya archaeology in Central America.

You, Me, and Swifty are all representing the Midwest so I think if we teamed up and each did something different to add variety to it then we would have the Midwest covered pretty well

we could each do the state we are from, since it looks like we are all from a diffrent one. maybe in the US section we could have it divided by midwest, ect ect ect  (i forgot what the other sections are called XD )  so that way, it would be more organized and we all would post under the midwest, for the games, one person could run it but all of us would give the person running the game images, and they use their images too

i was going to be midwest/MN  since i know more about my  own state.  

You forgot Rei (Jupiter) representing Scotland. But, me and her are doing the UK as a whole and would then divide it into the countries within the UK section, if that's ok? We've been planning through PM and an IM app. We've got some graphics made with more to come and planning games/quizzes etc.

@Brit, I like the design your own mardi gras mask haha. Maybe send something about that cake you were mentioning to me around Mardi Gras.

And yes all games will be held in their respective areas. There is no one singular game. The point of the event is to educate one another on various areas around the world and each place is different.
