Hiya there! This is your
first class and one of the most important!! So prepare for a LOT of information (probably) =p
Note: this class does not teach you how to use tools, the purpose is to show you what your software can offer you.
I'm using photoshop CS6, but for this class, that won't matter at all, since photoshop had most of these tools from the beginning.
Let’s start first with our
control panel~
When you open photoshop, this basic panel, so depending on what you want do, each one will help you.
File: here you can find saving methods and printing.
Edit: crop, copy, expand, any method to modify your picture/art.
Image: expand the image, expand background, colorize etc.
Layer: Anything LAYER related.
Type: everything involving typography
Select: all selection tools
Filter: blur, gaussian blur, mozaic, etc. all goodies for your image.
View: it's self explanatory.
Window: all extra windows photoshop has like the typography window, pentool, etc.
Now, let's move on to the tools panel
Know this panel,
love it,
learn it,
breath it, this is where the magic begins~
If you noticed, some of this tools have a little arrow, that means it contains
more options to choose, let's see what other tools hide each of these. To access them just
right click them if you have a
PC. Also another way to access them:
alt+click, also if you notice, most of the tools have a
letter, that means
SHORTCUT! Just click for example
M and you'll get all
marquee tools.
Now, i'm going to show you all hidden tools behind each and every of these they're gonna be separated depending on their use
Select/Cut toolsPhoto editing/coloring tools"Vector"/typography toolsMove/zoom/Select color toolsThose are all the tools photoshop have, each and every one can help you achieve unique and gorgeous art. Now let's move to the
Windows panel and see what we got there. I personally like to have only available the layers panel, but, depending on what you want to work on, you can choose from one of these:
This feature is for CS5 +When you click one of these, the right side of the panel changes. Click to see~
Painting: if you're working on paintings or coloring a drawing
Photography: this is specially for photographers, it has all they need.
Typography: if you're working on text only.
Note: you can personalize this area, choose the panels you want and save them. Just click
Essentials and choose "
new workplace".
And that's it for today guys~ hope this helped you know a little much better this software.
In next tutorials we're gonna learn a little bit more about the tools and the panels we got here.
See ya~
