| Character Submission Guidelines All characters (including otakus, villains, and crossover characters) need to fill out a Character Profile form before joining in on the RPs. There are two types of character: Canon (from the official Sailor Moon universe) and Otaku (or Original Characters (OCs)), and two types of profile forms: Relaxed and Advanced. Submit your Otaku/Crossover Characters here. Sailor Pluto Uranus will review and assist or approve your profile! - Submitting Your Application:
When you make your application thread, please put in the thread title of your thread two of the applicable headers: Relaxed or Advanced, and then one of the following to loosely describe them: CIVILIAN: SENSHI: KNIGHT: GUARDIAN: ANTAGONIST: CROSSOVER: Example: For my Otaku Senshi/Original Character Sailor Tellus, I would title her thread: Advanced Senshi: Sailor Tellus Or, for my fun canon character, Minako, I would title my thread: Relaxed Senshi: Sailor Venus/Minako Aino NOTE: Don't copy the spoilered text into your profile thread. That version is to explain stuff the categories - when directly copied over, it can reduce font size and introduce new, weird colors into your profile application. =D Instead, copy from the Code block at the bottom of the profile in the respective spoiler!- Relaxed Character Profile Skeleton:

While it's optional to fill anything in for this section to be approved, you still have to include the field, even if it's empty! Additional Information: Optional! | Sailor Uranus's Guide to Painless Character Creation! General Information Name: Senshi Names ; Name Generator, Name Meanings When creating a character, make sure to choose a name that fits! It’s an author’s tongue-in-cheek best friend!Gender: Birthday: Senshi Birthdays ; Astrology Site in case you want to match your OC’s general personality traits to a dateAge: Birthplace: Consider carefully! Most of the time Tokyo will work (and is correct), but where a person is from also has a hand in how they behave and what they hold to be important. Culture is tricky; when in doubt, make them where you’re from because you know how you and people in your culture act!Physical Description (include clothing generally worn): Please include at least one paragraphs of description. An easy way to do this is to make a list of the characteristics your character has, or you want them to have. Then turn that list into sentences describing the characteristics in a little more detail, and then turn those sentences into paragraphs. For example…- Example Physical Description Creation Process:
For Usagi: Listed Traits | Elaboration |
- blonde
- blue eyes
- pretty, not beautiful
- short
- average build/slightly chubby
- usually smiling
| --> Long blonde hair, styled.--> sparkling, expressive blue eyes--> has potential for great beauty, but currently more cute than stunning-->short among peers-->default expression is of expectant happiness
| | Elaborating the heck out of it…The easiest way to spot Usagi in a crowd is to look for her signature hairstyle – two twin buns planted on opposite sides of her blonde head, long hair spilling down out of the buns and down past her waist. Of course, she still could be hard to spot, considering her less-than-average height, but what she lack in stature she more than makes up for in enthusiasm. She’s often found bouncing or loudly expressing herself, even when in public. 79 words! A full paragraph just from two physical points! Let’s get the last few…Her general bubbliness often makes people smile and earns her quite a few friends; her default expression is one of expectant happiness, her blue eyes often sparkling in anticipation for something new and exciting to happen. As for the rest of Usagi’s features, the young girl is often considered to be pretty, but not quite beautiful yet – when her youthful face and slight chubbiness matures, the potential for stunning beauty is there. AND DONE. Two paragraphs. … But now for pesky clothing.Usagi’s usual attire is her school uniform: a blue-themed sailor uniform with a red bow in the middle. Outside of class (and studying, bleh), Usagi prefers mini skirts (to show off her wonderfully long legs) and classy shoes in fun pastel colors. Nothing much, but, hey, got it covered. See? Not that bad. Personality: Please include at least one paragraph of description. The best way I’ve found to do this is to cheat! Lol, you can find general blood type personality bases here[NOTE: link broken. Google "blood type personality base"] , and general astrology profiles here , with elemental personality profiles in places like this. Don’t copy word for word or anything, just get the general feel and make a list of traits you like or want. Then you can use lists of positive and negative traits to make sure your character is balanced/well rounded – a character with faults is more interesting than a character without. Once you have your lists, my advice is to start collecting them in general areas of moods for your character – what are they like when they’re calm? When they’re excited? When they’re angry? When they’re sad? How do they react to people when they first meet? How easily do they trust people? Do they believe people are inherently good, or evil? Just answering those questions will get you close to two paragraphs!- Example Personality Creation Process:
Hey! So I started using this method to create personalities for two of my original characters, Brenna from Genesis, the tale of the Orion Senshi, and Erimentha, my bronze-age Sailor Terra/Tellus. Rather than re-create those lists on here, I just took a screenshot of those files and have attached them below, and then the personality I made from those lists underneath. I hope you find them enlightening! Erimentha; Earth-Type personality, Virgo:Note how I listed both good and bad traits here! Straight-bad that I got from a site are in red at the top, and are listed elsewhere in the ‘potential faults’. After I made this huge list, I went through and highlighted some traits, with green being things I wanted regardless, blue being add-ons, and yellow being potentially down-sided (to the characters I usually create). Then I just started writing, tying all of these key words together until they sounded cohesive. I put a strike-through over a trait when I used it, but if you read the final product, you’ll see that I didn’t strike through all of the ones I used, because sometimes once you get started you just let your fingers fly XD - Erimentha’s finished personality:
Overall, Erimentha is a calm person, stable enough for others to depend on and wise enough that friends and relatives occasionally seek her opinions when in need of consult. She’s a quick thinker and picks things up easily, and is imaginative enough to apply what she has learned to new and seemingly difficult problems to make them easier to deal with. One of her greatest strengths is her work ethic – she is a hard worker, methodical in her workings and detail-conscious of the overall picture. She enjoys having an organized world, and often turns to organizing when stressed about different situations. These traits make her father seek her aid in their shop, and while she is lukewarm about the man, she does enjoy the day-to-day challenges the market provides.
Along with these traits, she is patient, especially towards young people and tasks she is working on. Good things take time, and she’s willing to wait. In new endeavors she is cautious, always thinking through her options before deciding… and once she has decided upon a course of action, it is difficult to dissuade her. Her stubbornness flaunts itself in these situations – if she believes it to be right, then it is right. If she thinks it is the best option, than it is the best, or she will make it the best.
She has been known to suffer jealousy on occasion, especially in circumstances when someone that was her fan is paying more attention to another, and can turn cold and harsh to the usurper of that attention. She’s a little possessive in that way, but this possessiveness towards people she likes, or people who have earned her respect, earns them a great deal of loyalty from her. She does not suffer disrespect towards the people she likes, and her protectiveness of them can only be called bravery, especially when in the face of someone twice her size or age.
She tends to believe in the good side of people, especially girls and women, but oftentimes is too trustful towards those she has only just met, as she holds others to the standards she set forth for herself. She is trustworthy, so they should be, too. She is responsible for her own actions, dependable and reliable, is honest, and always keeps her promises, and though she is a practical girl and has a strong common-sense code, she mistakenly believes that because she upholds such things, others will, too, by default.
She is religious, and oftentimes aligns herself with the goddess of wisdom and war, Athena; and while she keeps the ethics intact, she is concerned with physical wellbeing rather than spiritual attainment, despite her claims that she would turn to priestess-hood in the future if she cannot become a courtesan.
She doesn’t gamble or take any unnecessary chances, and dislikes surprises. Friends know her to be reliable, steadfast and a little predictable. Brenna, fire-type personality; aries Here I just straight-up copy and pasted an introduction to Aries, and then summarized their paragraphs into bullets that I could then go through later and string together into my own personal thing; now, reading through Brenna’s profile, you might even point and say “Hey, so that’s exactly the Ares profile written out in a personification. :/ that’s not a good, creative personality!” and I would say to you, “ So? Brenna is an Ares, that’s who she is right now. Does that make her flat? Maybe, but already she’s better constructed than a lot of other characters out there. She has positive traits and she has negative traits, and in the future I can change whatever traits I want to fit her growth and development.” This is just a jumping spot, just something to return to when you need to remind yourself of how your character would react in a situation! For both Brenna and Erimentha, I’ll often have the bullet-point lists open when I’m writing to remind me of what makes them who they are; these points have use beyond character creation! Set one up and use it, and you won’t be disappointed. - Brenna’s finished personality:
Brenna is enthusiastic, independent, and fearless. She has this innate drive to compete and win, to face the odds and come out on top, and that provides her with the reservoir of inner strength required to take on most anyone. She does not lack energy or vitality and her endurance is incredible – allowing her to stay in the game longer than anyone else. For this ability she has been called ‘bold’ and ‘aggressive,’ but also ‘courageous,’ for even when it looks like she couldn’t possibly win, when most people would stand back or duck out, Brenna stays. Her ego won’t allow her to leave; she either wins, or spends herself completely in the attempt.
This energy and vitality, this dynamism she employs when living her day-to-day life, attracts people to her like iron filings to a magnet. She’s like the Pied Piper, leading people along with charm and charisma against seemingly insurmountable odds. Always the first to get things going, always moving fearlessly into the unknown, ready to face any challenge and take on any competitor in order to win fair and square, she’s the leader of the pack. But in group situations, especially projects, while Brenna is always the first to get things going, whether or not everything gets done is another question altogether. She prefers to initiate rather than to complete, often bolting to the next project, the next new thing before the first one is done.
The challenge inherent on taking on the unknown is heaven on Earth to her; the dawning of a new day – and all of its possibilities – is pure bliss, while stagnation and boredom is her Achilles heel. When she isn’t challenged with something new, when she doesn’t have an immediate goal in mind to work towards, Brenna loses that charisma everyone adores so much. She gets sluggish, almost depressed, and loses all pretense of manners. If there’s nothing in it for her, she doesn’t waste her energy, so why bother being nice? She is always blunt and to the point no matter the situation, but when everyone is working towards something that is what they need in a leader or teammate – someone who can make decisions and point out dumb errors – but when you’re just hanging out with someone, being blunt isn’t exactly a lovable trait. Her impulsivity, that immediate ‘let’s go!’ drive of hers that occasionally gets her in trouble when in action (as some decisions of hers prove later to have been too hasty – not that she would ever regret taking a shot at a problem), gets her into deeper trouble when nothing is going on; more often than not she gives in to the temptation to ram her ideas down everyone’s throats, never bothering to ask if they wanted to know; and when she is in an argument, she has the nasty habit of always having the last word. When bored she is sullen and sarcastic, and no matter what the situation she is impatient.
But she is an amazing teammate and leader. Thriving in action, full of enthusiasm, Brenna’s love of physicality and burning desire to play the game spurs her teammates to win. She would never sit on the sidelines for long, jumping into the fray full force and contributing much in the process, her competitive nature ensuring she will play the game with zeal and vigor. She loves to play, and is happiest in a spirited soccer match or engaging in martial arts.

- I find that, when writing bios, it’s really helpful to look at a list or a chart like the one above. Picking two or three traits from each chart and building a character based around them will give you a really interesting bio, because they will serve as a reminder that characters need depth and dimension.
Independent and clever. VS.
Independent, clever, pretentious, and stubborn. The first combination doesn’t come with any flaws, whereas the second will provide a more dynamic character. - krisnoel-lionhead on tumblr wrote:
- n order to create a relatable character, you must think about them as having several layers. Knowing and choosing character traits is important because you don’t want them to be one dimensional. It’s all not as simple as saying “this person is mean” or “this person is kind”. Think about the people you know in real life. They all have some sort of defining trait that makes them different from everyone else. You usually know more than just one thing about them and they most likely have many interests. Your characters must be just as diverse.
I’ve listed some examples of character types:
Adventurer: high levels of energy, bold, dominant, competitive, fickle, leader. Can be aggressive or have poor judgment.
Bossy: confident, competitive, stubborn, close minded, serious, lacks shame or guilt, wants a high status.
Creator: artistic, observant, persistent, sensitive, introverted, becomes easily absorbed, enthusiastic, likes his or her own company.
Extrovert: outgoing, talkative, not easily intimidated, expressive, enjoys being with others, seeks social situations.
Fearful: driven by fears of rejection, unhappy, withdrawn, avoids stress, uncomfortable in social situations, problems being assertive.
Loner: might be directionless, little attachment to anyone, likes to be alone and avoids social situations, rarely expresses anger.
Passive-Aggressive: reserved, sulky or resentful, jealous, always assumes the worst, doesn’t know how to express their feelings, behaves in indirect ways.
Resilient: happy, productive, is able to overcome adversity, has a good sense of humor, high standards, able to go through life with minimal stress.
Victim: feels weak, pessimistic about life, acts like a burden, no deep emotions, feels helpless when left alone.
I also wanted to discuss some psychological disorders in case you’d like to include them in your manuscripts:
Anxiety: tense, shy, depressed, feels worthless, afraid of social situations, lacks confidence, worried, cries frequently.
Autism: can show delay or lack of language in severe cases, might be bossy, dislikes social rules, fights, blows up easily, can lack self-control, uninterested in others.
Depression: feelings of rejection, low self-esteem, negative self-image, intense sadness, can feel worthless.
Hypochondriac: pessimistic, self-centered, complains about aches that can’t be explained by a medical condition, worries, low energy.
If you’re thinking of a specific disorder, you should do the proper research and remember that a disorder can affect everyone differently. Not everyone will have the same traits.
Here are some lists for finding the right vocabulary and coming up with diverse character traits by combining them:
List of POSITIVE character traits: adaptable, alert, ambitious, aware, brave, calm, capable, certain, committed, compassionate, considerate, consistent, curious, dedicated, determined, efficient, expressive, faithful, happy, honest, independent, intelligent, loyal, nurturing, patient, playful, polite, productive, punctual, responsible, strong, trusting, warm, wise.
List of NEGATIVE character traits: angry, aggressive, arrogant, bossy, cruel, careless, cold, conceited, conniving, dishonest, dangerous, egocentric, evil, foolish, flaky, gloomy, grumpy, hateful, harsh, inconsiderate, immature, indulgent, ignorant, insensitive, jealous, lazy, malicious, miserly, mean, mistrusting, pessimistic, pompous, rude, scornful, thoughtless, timid.
Remember that most people have both good and bad traits, so combining them should help you form a well-rounded character.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: A list of odd human abilities History: Please include at least one paragraphs of description. If the character is a sailor senshi or a villain, please provide information on how he or she became a sailor senshi or a villain. BIG NOTE! With canon characters, you don’t have to get super detailed! Lol, we kinda know their history since becoming a senshi. My advise in creating a good history is to do it chronologically – Birth, growing up, school, any important life events; You’re just writing your character’s biography – how would you write yours? And keep it open ended!- Example History Creation Process:
Birth and Early childhood | Tsukino Usagi was born in late June as the first child to Kenji and Ikuko. She was an extremely emotional child – when she was happy she positively glowed, when sad she cried for hours, and when mad she threw the biggest little temper tantrums that either family had ever seen, but she was also sweet, because after her little reigns of terror she would apologize in her own, childish ways. As she grew her temper tantrums became less and less… until her little brother Shingo appeared on the scene; since the beginning he knew how to push her buttons.
| School and Important events | School had never been Usagi’s forte. After graduating from 1st grade, life suddenly got harder. It wasn’t about coloring or making friends anymore, it was about… learning. There was one incident where she came home in tears over at test the next day. To comfort her, her mother put a “special luck charm” on Usagi, and marked her “motherly blessing of good grades” by styling Usagi’s hair in twin ponytail buns on top of her head, the whole time making Usagi tell her about the lesson the test would be over.
The next day when she came home with an A-, they all celebrated and Usagi, rather than believing her mother when Ikuko told her she had made the grade through studying, instead vowed to only wear her hair in the lucky style until the day she died. Ikuko slowly started to accept that getting Usagi’s grades up would be a constant and monumental task.
| Friends | From elementary school to middle school, Usagi continued to excel in making friends and fail in general school subjects until, miraculously, halfway through her 8th grade year when she started hanging out with a new group of people, one of whom was insistent about studying. Ikuko loved those girls!
| Growing up | Of course, what Ikuko didn’t know was the events leading up to that group of friends coming together, or the events that followed: the trials that Usagi went through, her growth of character, her capacity to love, forgive, and fight for love and justice to protect Earth, and discover not only who she was, but who she could grow to become so long as she believed in herself and her friends.
| Vague summary of senshi battles | In her battles as Sailor Moon, she confronted her past, her future, her present, her dreams and her destiny, and from all of these she emerged victorious, never having to sacrifice her pure heart or ideals, but using her love to triumph over the forces of darkness. She shines on as the brightest star in the galaxy. |
Storyline Specific Information: This section is for you to detail information about your character that is specific to a certain storyline(s). Fill out this section with each separate storyline, so you don't have to send multiple character profile applications for the same character. This is suuper useful; you might want to put each storyline in its own spoiler to keep things neat and tidy in your profile; this area is just for you, so you can remember if you killed of a parent or something in a storyline—HOW COULD YOU OMG XD This is also super useful for AU characters.- Example Storyline Specific Information:

Senshi Information (delete this section if not applicable) Senshi Name: List of Celestial Bodies Senshi Fuku: I’d go from a picture, to a list, to a sentence, to a paragraph with the description. If it’s canon, providing a picture is fine; more than one picture (ex for each powerup) should be put in a spoiler to keep things neat and tidy. Henshin/Transformation: your transformation item, phrase, and possible appearance when transforming.Powers: Please include a description of how the attack looks when performed, the name of the attack, the effects of the attack, and the strengths/weaknesses of the attack. Weapons or Magical Items: Please include a description of any weapons and magical items. Guardian: If applicable. A guardian is not required. RP Sample: Must be at least 100 words.
