My boyfriend & I were talking about adopting a cat the other day & I said would shave a bald spot into it's head (jokingly). He brought up an interesting question. Is Luna's Crescent Shape a Bald Spot or is it blonde fur or what? I believe in the manga & anime that it says it is a bald spot, but seeing as to how I don't speak Japanese I was wondering if this was a translation choice or something. If anyone could help me solve this little burning question I have I'd appreciate it.

They truly say it looks like a bald spot but I've aways thought it's golden like some brass, just how Serenity's / Eternal Sailor Moon's crescent looks like

Yeah I agree, I think (if I remember correctly) they were saying bald spot before they knew she was more than just a cat, so they saw it and figured it couldn't be anything besides a bald spot.

I agree with this .. I dont particularly like the bald spot idea.

I assume it's fur? A bald spot wouldn't be yellow. It would probably be black seeing how she's a black cat.

I was reading the manga yesterday and there Usagi says that Luna has a bald spot in her forehead which makes her crescent moon mark

or a bright yellow birthmark like Serenity!

You know how most of the cats from Mau (sp?) don't have crescent marks.
Two possible theories.
1. Maybe they shaved the spots in, when they were appointed advisers for the Queen. Showing their allegiance to the moon or what not.

2. Maybe after becoming advisers, they ended up getting a birth mark like Queen and Princess.


On another note, who says that the people of the Moon all didn't have crescents too.
