| Unfortunately, I never got to read the Infinity arc in the original run due to some traumatic circumstances in my life at the time and have only seen the anime so while I'm thrilled to read it now I'm a little confused about a point I ran across.
On page 72 of the new volume 7 (Act 32 Infinity 6, Three Guardians) it specifically says that Haruka is both male and female. It was my understanding that she was female and just had a more masculine personality. Is this speaking in a metaphorical sense or is it actually being literal?
Sorry for such a silly question, I had just never encountered this part before and it confused me. Thank you. |

| *have yet to receive his copy because it's sold out* .... *going to see MissDream, whose translation is much more accurate*
Something is sure: Haruka is, and always have been a woman. |

| It's not being literal. Naoko herself said only senshi can be women. Haruka represents both feminine and masculine characteristics. |

| ! I remember this part! Michiru says to Usagi that Uranus is both man and woman, but in a way that means "she has the strenght of a man and the grace of a woman" |

| Exactly!! I wasn't sure if I was right because I only heard that once and I couldn't remember where I heard it. Maybe it was on here? |

| *Tsuki rushes to find and read her Japanese scans* Yup, that's just how it is; Neptune says Uranus holds both the strength of a man and strength of a woman as one of her senshi abilities. Woot for Kodansha making yet another inaccurate translation >___> |

| Maybe they're going to be more open about Michiru and Haruka's relationship later, but they wanted to continue to censor it somewhat so instead of making it a female with a female they wanted to justify it by making her part male? I don't know. I'm not sure either. |

| Nah I think William just didn't focus enough when translating that part. You know Japanese is actually a pain to translate in English. What Neptune says in her second quote is correct but the first one (I'm writing it in Japanese) "Uranus wa otoko demo ari onna demo aru..." can be translated in many ways, which William's in my opinion is not the best solution how to translate it. It's simple but Miss Dream's translation " Uranus is like man and woman in one..." works better for me. I don't think Kodansha tried to censor their relationship (or they wouldn't call Haruka 'she' before the senshi knew who she was etc.) and they've promised this printing will be completely like the original. But when William has called Moon the champion of love and beauty I'm not surprised he sorta skimmed Neptune's words. |
