| Hallo all, Introductions always make me feel awkward. I want to meet new people but then I feel like I sound like some self-obsessed individual if I share too much about myself! But, ah well, I guess it cannot be helped. My name is Rebecca, to begin with. Nice to meet you all and finally be apart of a Sailor Moon forum! I have been a fan of Sailor Moon for roughly 13+ years. It was actually my first introduction to anime, so that may have been the reason why it held such a lasting impression on me. I started watching the dubbed anime and I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I became all emotionally attached and I thought the names were wonderful and the voice actors had so much personality and I totally wept when Usagi was given a new VA at the start of the S season. Eventually, when I realized what the internet was (gasp! sheltered child!), I later found the japanese seiyuu version and became horrified at the dubbed anime. I fell in love with the manga and realized that I had been totally cheated by only knowing the characters through the anime. I am a manga/japanese seiyuu purist but I hold no ill feelings towards anyone who feels otherwise. Don't worry. I never bite, I am just really passionate! As for me? Well, I am an artist and a writer (as you can tell from my obsessively long posts). Manga/anime and art are my passions really. I love yaoi especially and Sailor Moon is really the only shoujo manga I like (that and MARS and Land of the Blindfolded). But in general, I am a yaoi nerd. orz I kind of live on tumblr and would love to see anyone else's tumblrs as well! I am in graduate school for my Masters of Fine art and I teach music lessons as well. I am trying to teach myself japanese but it is not fairing quite so well. And yah, that is basically it. I used to be on a lot of different forums way back when but this is my first Sailor Moon one. It feels nice (and nostalgic) to return to the world of Forums. And I am especially happy to be at a Sailor Moon one.

| hi!! I think I am sorta like you! I just graduated with my BFA in Visual Arts. How is that MFA going? I've been debating on and off about grad school. I'm kind of sick of school right now. lol. But we're pretty similar when it comes to sailor moon! i've been a fan about as long and it was one of hte first animes i ever watched (technically pokemon was but i didn't know it was anime then and i outgrew that quick. Never will out grow sailor moon!). The internet was such a great resource back then and now too. XD I remember when I first saw the manga volumes at the Barnes & Noble in my town and i was like "OMG THERE ARE COMICS OF THIS!!". I never did get to finish getting all the Mixx/Tokyo Pop volumes because it went out of print. I'm seriously about 3 or 4 books short. Happy to have you here and hope you enjoy it! It's been fun so far! |

| Hee. I think I sorta like you too, Brit-chan! I just went to your intro post and was like OhmygoshmyForeverAloneSoulMate. XD Hee. Thank you for the welcome as well! Oh my gosh, my dear, you MUST read the manga! ALL OF IT. I weep for what you are missing. Which books short are you??? And we have the WEB now! Read it online. My gosh, I am so curious as to which four you have not read. O.o I went kinda crazy and bought four random ones when I first heard about the manga. Then years later I bought the whole series on ebay. Er, and the comics too. And now they are making reprints! Gyahhhh, I have so much it is too much! XD I'm thinking of selling my copies, when I get around to it. -_- Yay for a fellow art major! I actually have a BA in Art History, not art, so this MFA experience is quite ... a tough one. lol. I have some really wonderful professors and then a few who are always like 'you don't have a background in art so you are at a disadvantage.' Ahh, mehness. I love being in school though. But I can understand you feeling burnt out or wanting a break. I think school is something that you have to be serious about, so don't continue if you do not feel passionate about it. Breaks are always good. Sadly, I do not think you can get very far with just a bachelors. :S Very glad to meet you! |

| oh don't worry! I did read it all (in fact i'm due for a reread with all these theories and discussions we're having on here). I managed to borrow from friends back in the day. And then in the past few months i downloaded it all so i could read through it since I have my SM manga packed up right now. I just want to finish my collection of the Mixx/tokyopop version, even with its flaws! But I seriously cannot wait for the rerelease coming up this fall! I am gunna buy that up so fast. XD
And as for school, I decided to transfer in the middle of everything so that set me back a good two years. It took me about 6 years (with a bad semester where i pretty much failed my main classes in there. Damn you senior thesis!) to get the damn BFA so i'm just gunna go with that for now. XD I think i might consider going to grad school later in the future.
Right now me and my BF want to kind of pay off our debts and see where we are in a year. If I do grad school, I want to move out of state and so does my BF, even if he decides not to do grad school, but i don't feel financially secure to do a big move at the moment, especially considering the economy and such in other areas of the country. So we're just gunna do what we can for a year here in Louisiana and see what goes from there. |

| It's great to have you on this forum Rebecca. I read that you're learning Japanese. I've been learning Japanese for 5 years now and about to make it 6. So if you ever have any question so don't be afraid to ask. |

It's nice to be here too. And as for the japanese ... FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK. This girl sent me a message in kanji and I have been desperately trying to translate it. I translated the individual kanji but as a sentence as a whole, I am so lost. I would very much appreciate your help. I think she is talking something about souvenirs and leaving things behind. lol. わかりません。orz |

| I'm the exact same! I'm a purist through and through, but I don't ridicule people who aren't. Of course, in my humble opinion, the pure Sailor Moon is BETTER, but I'm not going to be upset if somebody has a different opinion!
It's great to meet you! |

| Sailor Cosmos -- yay for a fellow purist! I just hope people do not think we mean 'purist' to be 'elitist' Certainly not at all! Sailor Mercury -- thank you so much! Here it is: どこのお国の方名のですか?お土産置いてきます。 I understand some kanji, such as country and souvenir and possibly leave behind? But what I am really bad at are the grammar points, so I can not put it all together. Thank you for your help! |
