| With February and Valentine's Day come thoughts of roses, chocolates, cards, and romance! Let's honor Tuxedo Mask, an obvious representative for such a holiday, with a challenge that tests creativity and encourages brushing up on vocabulary usage. It's easy to use terms that come to mind readily for a given topic, so let's go a bit beyond that and try to approach our writing from a slightly different angle! What is a challenge?A challenge is an objective (or objectives) that a single Writing and Roleplaying Guild member strives to attain, based on the outlined criteria. This is not a competition against others—your only rival is yourself. Find out more about Writing and Roleplaying Guild challenges: Guild Challenges, Contests, and Games! What are the requirements for this challenge?Test your creativity with synonyms and figurative language by writing prose and/or poetry (250 to 500 words) on the topic of our master of roses, Tuxedo Mask, without using words typically associated with him. As an added bonus, if you'd like a more difficult challenge, avoid permutations of the words on the list (for example, don't use "rosy", "destined", or "masked"). What words are excluded for this challenge?Rose Tuxedo Mask Prince Red Love Destiny Romance Hero Knight
| How do I participate in the challenge? There are several ways to participate!
- Post in this thread with one qualifying work.
- Discuss the challenge in this thread.
- Request feedback on your own work in this thread.
- Provide feedback* on someone else's work (who has requested it) in this thread.
*Do not provide feedback if the author has not requested it. Doing so will disqualify you from this challenge.
How do I complete the challenge?Post in this thread with at least two (2) qualifying works! Those who toy with pure hearts will someday be tried by pure hearts!Remember, participating in and completing a challenge earns points and helps you collect the super cute Writing and Roleplaying Guild Sanctioned Challenge Stamps! |

| womp womp LISTEN IT'S NOT 200 WORDS BUT blam-o! tapped it out during the last half of anime club.MINAKO KISS - Quote :
- A heavy heart and forgotten past, the burden of choices never consciously made weighing heavily on an old soul. Sentenced to an existence of loneliness and isolation to atone for mistakes made in a life long before it was his, he dared to fight his bleak fate and race after a dream of love. A phantom thief, an antihero, a rival and a villain, a traveler on the path to a brighter future and a clearer past.
Pawn. Hostage. Heir. Corpse.
Slate wiped clean, life renewed, a third chance at happiness with the mate of his soul. This time, they would make it a happy ending. |

| Alrighty, here is my first go. If there is anything you think I should know, feedback is great. It is kind of quick, but I like doing character studies. Hopefully I didn't include any of the forbidden words! EDIT: I finished another one, so I am just going to add it to this so I don't clog up the thread or anything. - Priorities:
He still didn’t know when it happened. He couldn’t say if it was slow or sudden, any more than he could say what inspired it. His feelings were as much a mystery as his desperation to complete his mission.
His mission. It was simple, if not easy. Find the crystal; take it to the dream-woman; regain his memories. It all made perfect sense - at least until found himself so determined to protect this girl.
He glanced down at her from his perch in a tree. Her fight over, she was talking to her friend while her long blonde hair lay plastered to her neck and arms. He rubbed one hand against the nape of his neck. He shouldn’t be so drawn to her. He knew nothing about her, not even her name. And she was so obviously young. If he had any doubts about her age, the way she was half-arguing, half-laughing with the dark-haired girl would have confirmed it.
He found that none of that made any difference. At some point, somehow, he had become devoted to this girl. She had eclipsed his mission, and he struggled to focus on his goals when he was constantly trying to watch her and keep her safe. At some point, she had become his top priority.
Shaking his head, he swung himself out of the tree, careful to keep the girls from seeing him. After meeting the blonde leader, his life had become far more complicated. All because of one girl. He glanced back, catching a quick glimpse of her blonde hair and blue skirt. He wasn’t sure how he felt about the changes she was unknowingly causing in his life, but it was too late to worry about it now. His mission had taken a backseat to this girl, who didn’t know she had upset everything in his existence.
Whatever happened, his life was caught up in hers now. He couldn’t change it if he tried, and when he remembered the way she smiled, he wasn’t even sure he wanted to.
- Patience:
He fingered his weapon, looking down at the fight below him. The girls seemed to be holding their own, and he didn’t want to interrupt them. If he kept them from winning on their own merit, he would never hear the end of it.
Fire streamed from Mars’s fingers, streaming toward the monster. In it’s pain, the monster thrashed and rolled. It slammed into Sailor Moon, throwing her at least a dozen feet through the air and into a tree. His fingers itched to attack.
Shaking his head, he forced himself to stay where he was. Sailor Moon stood back up, scowling in the direction of the monster. She might be bruised up, but she would clearly be fine. He sighed in relief and watched as she pulled out a weapon. She would be fine, then.
As he twisted the stem of his weapon, a thorn caught his glove, pulling the thread and drawing blood. He looked down for a moment, smoothing over the thread, which was now stained. A cry pulled his attention back to the fight.
Sailor Moon had attacked, even as Sailor Jupiter threw lightening at their foe. He laughed, leaping down to the ground while the girls looked over their enemy. He was pretty sure they had taken care of the fight. Grinning, he dropped a kiss on Sailor Moon’s cheek. “Good job.”
“Why didn’t you come help?” Her brows furrowed, and he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“You all had it well in hand.” His hand rubbed across her arm for a moment. “I would have stepped in if you needed help.” He glanced around them, tightening his grip a little. “Have you had dinner yet?” he asked.
“Nope,” she pouted for a moment. “Stupid monster interrupted us.”
He rolled his eyes, guiding her toward the edge of the park. “Come on then, let’s get you some food.”
