| Now, we all love candy. I mean, who doesn't? Unfortunately, too much candy isn't the best for the body. That's where the wellness club comes in! In this thread, everyone is encouraged to post healthy sweets or healthy alternatives to sweets! This could be anything from recipies to fun facts you may have heard, to actual brands! Have fun, everyone! Just don't tell Usagi that these are good for you. I'll start us off with one of my old favorites; Raisinets! They've been known to have 30% less sugar then other chocolate snacks and have a half a serving of fruit in every forth a cup. This is because of the real raisins they have inside of them-which are dried grapes-leaving less chocolate and less sugar per bite, but still all the flavor! |

| My favorite sweet treat is actually to freeze grapes or bananas. They are a wonderful way to cool down and I find frozen bananas usually taste a bit sweeter. They also work great in smoothies, since smoothies made with frozen fruit instead of ice do not melt as quickly.
Also, I recently discovered I can use vanilla or plain flavored coconut milk ice-cream to mix my own dairy-free and nut-free ice-creams. My favorite right now is to mix matcha powder to create green tea ice-cream. But, next I will try coffee or chocolate. Now, I also have greater control over the amount of sugar in my ice-cream, too. |

| One of my favourite sweet snacks is frozen pitted cherries or frozen peach slices. Sometimes I eat them frozen, and other times I'll dip them into a cup of hot tea for a few seconds. ♥ Fruit is still high in sugar, so it's obviously best not to overdo it, but it is still less than most candies. |

| I recommend you make your own fruit cups and if you like, you can add a bit of Reddi Wip. |

| At my house we sometimes have sliced strawberries in a tiny bit of French vanilla coffee creamer as a dessert alternative. Has anybody ever made chocolate mousse-like snacks with avocados and a blender? I had a recipe that I copied down from some TV show, but it was unfortunately lost when my old phone stopped working. It looked pretty good though! I want to say that the only other ingredient was cocoa powder? XD |

| I have a pretty strong sweet tooth, so giving up candy bars at the end of University was kind of a big deal for me. As an alternative recently, I turn to Medjool Dates. A little expensive so it's harder to go overboard ^^;;.
They contain Selenium which is apparently good for metabolism but there seems to be a disagreement as to whether they are safe for diabetics to eat... So says the magical internets! aka go ask your doctor about it XD. |

aka go ask your doctor about it XD. I'm glad you brought this up! My mom's diabetic, and so are a few of her friends. She and her one friend react to it, the other two do not. No idea why it varies, it could be the type of diabetes or the severity of it. It's hard to tell since it seems random-as of right now, anyways. I know there are some researchers looking into it. But yeah it's important to always ask the doctor first, then research up on it second, based on the info your doc gives you. ------------ And back to the healthy sweets part, sugar free gummies are totally delicious and I love them. Just don't eat too much of them in one sitting-not because of anything dangerous, but the sugar substitutes in large doses act as a laxative. |
