Welcome to the biggest event of the year; the Crystal Palace Masquerade Ball. Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion have invited you to don your best attire and come to enjoy a night of mystery and merriment. This is a masquerade, so masks are a requirement. The dress code is formal wear only. No one will quite know who's who upon entering, but therein lies the fun. It will be like partying with strangers among old friends. Can you figure out who you're talking to? Hope you won't end up gossiping about someone to their own face...

In this event, your masks will be enchanted so that no one will be able to recognize each other through voices and other parts of their appearances like height or hair color. Your objective is to interact with each other and try to figure out who the other participants are, both by interacting with them yourself and watching them interact with other characters. The first person who manages to guess the most identities correctly will get a special prize and winning points.

The Game

The game part of this event is to figure out what character everyone is playing. They are either playing a Sailor Moon canon character or an otaku with a profile posted here. When you discover someone's identity, please don't share it with anyone and ruin the fun. Besides, this is a competition; every correct guess you make puts you ahead of others as a potential winner! Of course, the competition bit is completely optional. You can also simply participate and enjoy the RP without trying to play the guessing game. But again, don't ruin it for the others who are playing by spilling the beans.

You can make your list of guesses whenever you like and submit it to me through PM. Please only do this once, so only send when you're sure you've gotten as many as you can and you're as sure as can be. I will not count entries beyond your first.

You can only guess if you're also a participant in this event, not merely a spectator.

PLEASE READ: Procedure on posting:

• Everyone's mask is enchanted. No one should be able to recognize anyone else based on physical appearances, including voice and mannerisms. I don't care if your character has sixth sense or anything of the sort, this magic overrides everything. The only thing you can recognize is their gender.
  
• Replace every mention of your actual character name with your code name to protect your identity. You may indicate your gender, however.
  
• Do not share obvious details about your character, e.g. which planet they're from, names of people they love, things that could help identify you in any way, whether in dialogue or in your narration. General things are okay, like "I enjoy walks on the beach" or "in my home planet, we don't have a lot of parties like this" but specific things like "I have a cat named Artemis" or "I have powers over the ocean" is a no-no.
  
• Anyone who posts their character's name or overly specific identifying information will be warned. I don't want to kick people out but I also want to preserve the fun for everyone, so try to be careful when posting, please!

Ivory Rose
Cautiously, he entered the party grounds, his eyes sweeping over the assembly and enjoying the sensation that he didn't know anyone. He smiled rougishly. The enchantment had worked. He strode the rest of the way in, pausing with one hand on his hip just off the dance floor as he looked around for the best place to start the night's festivities. 

It wasn't posted, it wasn't even hinted at, really, but the underlying game was clear: Unmask everyone through your own cleverness and win! He had a bet going with a certain someone, and he didn't intend to lose.

Firelight

She strode into the ballroom of the palace, the glistening crystals all over the place never quite ceasing to amaze her. Opposite her, the transparent walls offered a beautiful view overlooking the city of Crystal Tokyo, with lights dancing upon every window. She had been lucky enough to be invited here today, and had decided she could not miss this event. Her red evening dress moved softly as she walked further into the room, the lightness of the fabric swishing upon her legs. Her red and gold mask was firmly attached, the only reason the guard by the door had allowed her inside after she showed her invitation.

Firelight had experienced balls such as these in her life, of course, but Crystal Tokyo’s parties were notoriously difficult to beat in the solar system. She hoped she might get to know some new friends tonight, both for diplomatic and casual reasons. She looked forward to dancing, celebrating, and feeling as if she didn’t have a care in the world, for she did not get to feel those things often.

The opportunity to attend a ball was one Tethys would never pass up, and one thrown by the queen herself was definitely one she would never miss. It would be nice to forget about her duties and responsibilities, and to just let go and have some fun. She had spent several days thinking about what to wear. After hearing about the true secrecy of this masquerade, Tethys was determined not to let anyone know who she was.

For once, she could be whoever she wanted to be. It was a dream come true.

She entered the extravagant ballroom, being careful not to trip over her dress or knock her mask. There were many in attendance, and for a moment Tethys found her shyness rooting her to the floor. All of a sudden, coming to this ball didn't seem like a great idea anymore.

Who would she talk to? She would never be able to find her friends, and it would be so weird to just talk to a random stranger, right? Seeing no option for escape, Tethys made her way to the refreshments table. Perhaps if she made herself look busy, she wouldn't stick out among the crowd.

Roseate

To say she was nervous would be an understatement. Her dress was a soft, champagne and body hugging dress, adorned with floral lace. It was beautiful dress - it was love at first sight. It was a bold decision to choose such a dress but to actually wear it? She felt like she couldn't recognize herself. But the mask, the mask really sealed the deal - she genuinely felt like a completely different woman was looking back at her in the mirror. It caught her off guard. 

She gazed around. The ballroom was simply exquisite and filled with stunning people but she could not recognize any of her friends. Who's idea was this to have an enchanted masquerade? It's probably for the best though. What would her friends think seeing her look like, well, this?

Roseate took a deep breath. She could do this. She lifted her head high, showing off her splendid round pearls resting against her collarbone and sauntered over to the refreshment table.

This wasn't her first ball - she had attended several throughout the years, though never a masquerade - but the Crystal Palace always took her breath away every time she saw it. Such a beautiful structure, sparkling and glistening like a jewel.  

As she entered the ballroom proper, a smile came to her lips and her heart fluttered in excitement. It felt so magical, so surreal, with the beautiful masks and people dressed in fine clothing. It was just like a fairytale.

And so romantic.

That thought sent her heart racing again as she thought of all the stories she had loved as a young girl, and a blush reddened her cheeks. Now it was her turn to take part in something very much like those stories.

As she looked from person to person, she wondered who could be behind those masks. Was that someone she knew? Or was every one here a stranger? What if the love of her life was waiting behind that mask shaped like a wolf? Or that one, with the hawk feathers?

She reached up and adjusted her own mask, and nervously smoothed the folds of her ballgown. But she pushed those nervous feelings aside. She felt like a princess, a princess hidden amongst beautiful strangers - so why couldn't she be? She could be anyone, anyone at all here.

The night was full of possibilities.

Echo

Echo wasn't the kind to deeply enjoy social events such as this, not ones this formal anyway. But Neo- Queen Serenity was a persuasive woman if anything, and at the end of the day, it was the mystery that drew her to this Masquerade Ball. Everyone's identities were hidden, and that screamed a challenge to her. If she had to be here for diplomatic reasons, she might as well have fun during the event. Echo loved a good puzzle, and the thrill of figuring out who was who was exciting enough to offset her distaste for small talk and formal wear.

 She entered the ballroom wearing a half mask that looked like a throwback to Japanese festivals in the distant past and instead of a more traditional dress, a black suit with a dark orange dress shirt and a silver tie exposed by the unbuttoned jacket. She wore slightly raised heels, but anything taller seemed impractical to her.

Echo looked around at the guests that had already arrived through the slits in her mask, taking in as much of the details as possible. Who should she approach first tonight, or should she hang back in a corner and wait for someone even more interesting to cross her path?

Her eyes fell on a young woman with a stunning beige dress and pink mask moving over to the refreshment tables. The magic of the masks made it impossible to notice much else, however. Echo could tell she wasn't too comfortable even from a distance, but she could possibly be coaxed into a conversation if she played her cards right. With a slight smirk, Echo approached the table as well, nearby another woman with a pink and black strapless gown and silver mask. 

"Good evening ladies," she said, addressing both Tethys and Roseate. Echo may not be a social butterfly, but that didn't mean she couldn't at least attempt to be smooth. "Are you familiar with Crystal Tokyo parties, or is this your first one?" An innocent question, but it could lead into others depending on the answers.

La Reine Intemporelle

She motioned herself in the ballroom, black heels tapping softly against marble flooring. Masked eyes slowly watched her surroundings, contemplating where she should start first. 

The room was grand, crystalline structures standing as high as the heavens with chandeliers creating a warm ambiance. Artful tapestries from the farthest of nations covered the walls from top to bottom. On the floor lie the tables, each covered in cream tablecloth and rose centerpieces. She especially enjoyed the savory aromas of meat and vegetables and, of course, the scrumptious trays of sweets.

In the center of the room was a wide space, enough for attendants to mingle and dance throughout the night. Though she herself decided on staying near the sidelines, content with herself for now.

She managed to find a table in a corner and sat down. She ruffled her dress and glanced as masked individuals arrived. She couldn't recognize any of them, but perhaps that was the intrigue of the occasion, one had to use their mind and instincts to discover who was who.

She made a small smile. This event will certainly be enjoyable, to say the least.

Huntress

Her heart raced with excitement as she stepped through the doors and into the ballroom. It was marvelous—exquisitely decorated down to the very last detail! She gave an approving glance to everything that her eyes set on as she glided on in to the party. The long silver gown swished around her ankles as she walked; she hoped that it was a good match for her mask. A frivolous thing to be concerned about, possibly in some other scenario—but this was a masquerade! The mere thought of being ill-prepared for the event gave her goosebumps.

She hadn't fully believed in the enchantment when she read the invitation, but as she looked around at the other attendees and realized that she recognized not a single one, she accepted it. How amazing! How curious! Oh, she was so very looking forward to this wonderful party!

There was activity near the refreshment table, and Huntress felt herself drawn towards it. She wasn't sure if her presence would be unwanted or not, but she just couldn't keep herself away. The silver-clad figure quietly padded up to the group, picking up a glass of champagne for herself (so adult!!) and peered at the masked trio to observe them. She felt awkward interrupting a conversation that was partially in progress; there had to be the right moment to introduce herself.

Oh, wait, or to not introduce herself. Hmm, the rules of this were tricky. Still, she couldn't just talk over them! There had to be an eventual opportunity to join in, and she would seek it!

Princess of Wisdom

  The Princess had been to enough of these obnoxious 'events' growing up that the awe and wonder they tended to arouse in others were were simply not present in her. Although even she couldn't deny how breathtakingly beautiful every inch of the Crystal Palace was. The mischievous side of her was tempted to ditch the ball completely and go exploring but the prospect of getting caught and arrested quickly but a damper on those plans. Deciding that she shouldn't spend all night gasping at grandiose fountains and ornate statues of forgotten figures, she shook herself out of her stupor and made her way further inside of the chatter-filled ballroom. Smiling softly to herself, she closed her eyes and concentrated on nosily listening to a conversation between a couple behind her. 

...Of course all she heard was nothing except a bunch of useless gossip. Typical.

   Why did people care more about trying figure out who was who when they could enjoy the time spent with each other and simply bask in the moment? She definitely had no interest in such silly things when this ball had so much else to offer her. Huffing, the Princess pulled on the skirts of her dress and vowed to make this night one to remember as she made her way to the very center of the dance floor. She was partnerless but that would be remedied soon. As her body began to sway to the music, she noticed a man standing near the edge of the dance floor and smirked. Boldly, she winked at him from behind her mask as if daring him to come meet her in the center of the room.

It was a full party - just how many people were invited to this thing? He nearly developed a twitch in considering all the possibilities; he thought he might've guessed a few of them based on their outfits alone, but then came more with the same color scheme, and each person acted distinctly, but that could just literally be acting just to throw guessers off. There was no guarantee that they would even wear something they would normally consider or act in their usual way! His eyes roved the room through the confines of his ivory-colored mask - not that he was getting discouraged, or anything - and then stopped dead on the woman swaying to the music in the middle of the dance floor, looking pointedly at him. She winked.

His heart beat faster. She was beautiful, but he had no idea who she was. He shouldn't. Then again, on a night like this, did that really matter? It was just a friendly ball; surely a dance or two would be okay, even if the identity of the partner were unknown? Smiling mischievously at her, he strode across the floor, matching his stride to the rhythm of her sway, and accepted her invitation. Smoothly he fit his left hand in her right, guiding her left to his shoulder before resting his right lightly on her waist, and led her through the song. "You look beautiful," he remarked as they moved to the music, "Did you have to travel far tonight?"

Who said he couldn't have a good time and win his bet?

Oh no... Lady Starlight thought to herself as she hurried along. I hope I'm not late...again. She made her way through the entrance of the Crystal Palace, squeezing through suits and elegant gowns. Her own dress, a lovely soft pink adorned with roses, ruffled a bit as she made her way through the crowd. Her mask was starting to slip low on her face, and she absent-mindedly righted it. 

Seemingly out of nowhere, Lady Starlight's heeled shoe caught on a woman's long train, and she went down. 

"Ouch..." She rubbed her knee forlornly, but she froze when she looked up.

In her haste and worry over being late, she hadn't noticed the beautiful decorations. The crystal walls glittered with the light of thousands of candles, and the tapestries glowed as if they were spun from gold. Magic seemed to hang in the atmosphere like mist. 

"So pretty..." Lady Starlight murmured to herself. She remained on the floor, a stupid grin plastered on her face, too enraptured with the ball to remember what she was doing.

Roseate

"Good evening ladies. Are you familiar with Crystal Tokyo parties, or is this your first one?" Came a voice.

"You know, I have but never I've never been to something as strange as this." Roseate responded automatically before spinning around and facing the speaker. Red blossomed on her cheeks, realising her poor manners.

Thank god for alcohol. She took a deep drink of her champagne that she quickly snatched from the table. There were at least a hundred glasses. Roseate composed herself and smiled, spinning around to greet the speaker.

Her eyes found a woman dressed in in a more traditional Japanese style - something she felt she hadn't seen in many years. It was a nice change of pace. The woman wore it with elegance and confidence. If she could do it, surely Roseate could do it, too.

"I'm sorry, where are my manners? I meant to say, I have indeed attended a fair amount of Crystal Tokyo parties, all of which have been lovely. But this none of them have been quite as...enchanting as this one. What about you, mademoiselle? Have you attended a Crystal Tokyo party before?"

Harmony

Harmony had attended many social events over the years, but this ball offered not one, but two rare chances--not only was this ball hosted by the queen herself, but each attendee was veiled in the cloak of anonymity provided by their unique masquerade masks. She strode into the ballroom confidently but steadily, taking her time to appreciate the majesty of the sparkling ballroom. After gracefully adjusting her sparkling mask, she joined the rest of the attendees in the middle of the ballroom, her long and flowing dress trailing behind her. 
 
Carefully, she observed each person, silently reveling in the fact that she could do so freely without fear of recognition. Her eyes widened slightly as she watched a woman in a lovely pink gown trip and fall over another partygoer's dress, then stay on the floor longer than necessary, seemingly in no rush to right herself. She quickly walked over, her heels stopping about a foot from where the woman lay. Silently, she assessed the woman for any clues that would reveal her identity, but recognized none. 
 
She finally walked a step closer and bended slightly, extending her hand to help the woman up. "Are you all right?"

Huntress

Her attention piquéd when one of the other women made a comment about having attended parties in Crystal Tokyo before. Huntress tilted her head, vaguely regretting this form's limitations, and continued to listen. The delicate fingers wrapped around the champagne flute's stem tapped against it in rhythm with the girl's increasing interest. So who was this person in the shades of buffed gold with the floral-accented mask? Of course, Huntress didn't know. That was the point, after all! But she certainly couldn't resist the urge to guess.

Her eyes, colour obscured by the mask and the enchantment, looked aside to the woman in chiffon and the woman in the suit, wondering how they would reply or otherwise continue the conversation.

Chameleon

Wracking her memory, she Chameleon was uncertain when the last time she had attended a party for fun was. Normally, when she went, it was a part of her duty. She wasn't particularly fond of them, but had agreed when her friend had told her she should go, to let lose and have some fun for once. Speaking of her friend, she should be here, but with the enchantments on the masks, it was making it difficult for Chameleon to easily spot her.

Never mind, she would figure it out soon enough. May as well enjoy what was obviously meant to be a game, right?

Lady Starlight

Lady Starlight jolted back to reality when she noticed the hand in front of her nose. She took in the woman's beautiful dress before graciously accepting her help.

"I'm fine. Thank you so much." She exclaimed. "I tripped over someone's dress and then got distracted. It's so pretty in here!"

She made a sweeping gesture with her hand, and her eyes immediately fell on the refreshment table. 

"Look! Food! Let's go get something to eat!" Lady Starlight grabbed her new friend's hand and began dragging her to the snacks, excitement plastered over her masked features.

Echo

Echo was far from offended by the woman's quick answer, and she did her best to not look like she was about to laugh when she saw how embarrassed she was about it. Echo was the last person to nitpick over word choice.

"You're the first person to ever call me mademoiselle," she said with a surprised laugh. "Most don't find that very fitting. But please, you can call me Echo. But I understand what you mean," she continued to Roseate. "I've had to attend balls and banquets more than a few times myself, though I'll admit I'm not much of a formal party fan. This ball, however...there's a sense of mystery to it, you know? Anyone can be anyone." Her fox mask seemed even more fitting when she grinned. 

"And speaking of identities, what would you have me call you?"

La Reine Intemporelle

She found herself intently watching the scene before her. Men and women of concealed identity arrived, each one eager at the prospect of meeting someone knew. She wondered if she could allow herself to delve into these trivialities.

She clicked her tongue, noting how she was judging the characters of these people based on appearance alone. But wasn't that what this event was about? Assessing the character of someone you or may not know?

She could simply walk up to someone and begin small talk, but she would rather wait for the right moment or rather the right person to so. She wanted the game to be on even ground is all.

La Reine Intemporelle stood up, noticing a waiter carrying glasses of champagne. She made a gesture for him to come over, taking a small glass into her hand.

Taking a sip, she walked to where people were congregating. Hopefully there this person would come around and play along.

These events were trivial, futile at best, but being new to Crystal Tokyo forced one to meddle with the people and he wasn't actually against it. It could be useful to be there, to watch, to learn, to observe. He wasn't interested in foreign contact or meaningless flirt - which were usually what happened in this sort of venues, but he was interested in... people. Somewhat. Not in the usual way, perhaps, but enough to dress up and put on a mask.

He spotted the exits and the stairs and anything else useful about the room they were all in as soon as he put one foot inside, knowing where he could go to be alone and undisturbed, knowing where he should leave or come back in to be undetected, only then turning his gaze to the other guests.

Judging one's physical appearance like this was rather hard. The masks and the enchantement made it hard to guess whether one was physically appealing or mundane. He kept to something further away from the main activities, still watching the current attraction without getting too close to the situation.

He preferred observation to any exchange and my, my, weren't there enough people to decipher tonight.

The ballroom was slowly filling up with more people, all of them hidden behind masks and identities obscured. She had to admit; the idea that she could be anyone she wanted was tempting. It seemed the queen had devised this as some kind of game to see how good everyone knew each other, but what was stopping her from choosing to be someone but herself tonight?

Absolutely none.

Feeling a sudden liberation, she approached the drinks table, where most people were congregated. She picked up a glass of bubbly champagne for herself, and found another woman in a beautiful silver gown listening attentively to the conversation (Huntress). There was something quite odd about her that Firelight couldn’t place.

“Hello,” she greeted the other woman with a smile, unobscured by the bottom part of her mask. “Riveting conversation, is it?” she asked teasingly, wondering how the girl would react to the insinuation that she was ‘listening in’.

Huntress

She knew immediately that she had been caught. Her face flushed a bright pink, contrasting nicely with the silver of her mask and gown, and she reached up in a futile attempt to disguise it. Oh, she would be in so much trouble! To think of how this would look, that she was eavesdropping! It was so impolite! She really did know better, it was just so tempting... She could just imagine what the others would say when they found out!

"Oh!" she breathed, thoroughly abashed, "I do apologize. I knew—I really did—but... but tonight and this party and the enchantment..."

"I'm so sorry, miss. What a pleasure to make your acquaintance! I'm—" she almost blurted out her real name in her haste. "—I mean, I'm Huntress. And you are?"

"Are you enjoying the party thus far?"

She felt like she had slipped into "diplomatic mode" without even meaning to. Even though tonight offered the promise of anonymity, old habits were so hard to break!

Havoc
Havoc entered the ballroom, rather unfazed by the crowds. The attendance, as expected, was large. The
crystal palace's decorations had turned out wonderful; and each and every patron there was adorned in wondrous garments and had fabulous masks on their faces. Havoc couldn't help but smile to herself as she walked farther into the crowd.
This evening was going to be an enjoyable one.

"Tonight, I am Roseate. Echo, was it? That's quite the codename." Who on Earth could Echo be? Roseate racked her brain, going through potential ideas as to who she was speaking to. She hoped by the end of the night she will either make a new friend or find her regular group of friends. Either way, she couldn't really go wrong.

Who would come up with such a game, though? Was it for banter? To prove a point? She definitely intended to find out. After all, Roseate was not one to turn down a challenge.

Harmony
 
Harmony barely had time to register what the woman had said before she found her hand now gripped tightly, and herself being swiftly pulled over to the refreshment table. This woman was a ball of energy! Despite her initial shock, Harmony actually thought it was quite enjoyable to have found a friend of sorts in a room of unrecognizable people.
 
When the pair finally stopped, Harmony gently picked up a delicious looking cupcake from the table, taking a few seconds to admire its perfectly swirled icing and shiny wrapper. As she took small bites, making sure not to spill any crumbs on her dress, she admired the other pastries on the table for a moment, but quickly turned her eyes to the woman standing next to her. She couldn't help but smile at the excitement written all over the woman's face.
 
"Well, I think that we should get acquainted with each other," Harmony said, turning to face her. "What's your name?" she asked, then quickly corrected herself. "Excuse me. I meant, what should I call you?"

Echo

"What can I say? I've been told I've got a good ear, so I thought it fit," Echo said, picking up a glass to drink from. She tapped it with a fingernail, making it ring faintly, like a bell. Sometimes one had to volunteer information to gain it, and she didn't mind sharing a bit about herself.

"And can I ask why you chose Rosete? Unless it's personal..."

Madame Lune


Madame Lune sighed in relief as she arrived to the Queen's famous masquerade ball. After being away from her home for so long, no thanks to her work, Madame Lune was grateful to come home and relax with a fun night out, something she rarely got to do, and to top it off, it was a mysterious masquerade ball! It excited her. She could be anyone she wanted and not her usual restrained and strict self. The was certainly shown with This certainly would the dress she wore tonight. She was no stranger to balls but she never chose dresses quite this..filly, it often wasn't her taste but she wanted to let go tonight.

She adjusted the accompanying mask, that glittered and fluttered about her head, as she eyed the ballroom floor. It certainly was magical and over the top, something expected of the royal palace and the Queen. Madame Lune smiled at the thought. Of course they would manage to out do any of their previous extravaganzas, the Queen was one for magical soirees after all. Further investigating, she saw couple attendees had gathered on the dance floor already and also noticed many had gathered at the refreshment tables. Madame Lune's stomach grumbled a little as she saw the food. She shushed her hunger pains, it was time to make the rounds. But was that necessary this time? She certainly wasn't obligated as she usually was at events.

The thought made her even happier as she decided to head towards the food tables. She didn't have to be responsible, she could eat and stuff her face and have fun! Madame Lune giggled as she watched two attendees (Lady Starlight and Harmony) eating some delicious looking cupcakes. That was her first stop!

She approached the two ladies, "Good Evening," Madame Lune gave a small curtsy at the two. "My, these look delicious!" She grabbed one of the intricately decorated cupcakes. It was almost too beautiful to eat but her growling stomach urged her to munch down anyway. She realized she had interrupted a possible conversation so she stuffed her face with cupcake while awaiting a turn to speak with the two girls.

Lady Starlight

Lady Starlight took her own cupcake, happy to have made a friend. 

"You can call me Lady Starlight, at least until we figure out each other's identities. It's a pleasure to be possibly meeting you for the first time!"

She gave a small curtsy as her new friend introduced herself, and then turned to the newcomer that approached the table.

"Oh, hello! Welcome to our little piece of the party! Call me Lady Starlight. Aren't these cupcakes delicious?!" She beamed at the woman before stuffing her face with another cupcake, barely taking her time to wipe the frosting from her mouth before pouring herself some ruby red punch.

Havoc

After admiring the decor a bit longer, she noticed a variety of masked individuals near the refreshment table. Her stomach growled a bit at the sight of the cupcakes. And this was considered simple snacking! Dodging her way through the crowd instead of simply slipping around the center of the ballroom-where the crowd was most concentrated, Havoc only thought of this after the fact-she finally popped out on the other side. Irritated that she somehow managed to take the difficult way, she skirted up to the table and grabbed a cupcake-a sign of her victory.
