Advanced Character Profile - Sailor Venus / Minako Aino
Character Name: Minako Aino
Gender: Female
Age and Date of Birth: Depending on the timeline, anywhere from 13 and up. DOB: October 22nd
Used Canons:90's anime/manga/Myu
Appearance:Minako is 5'2" (157cm) in height, average slender build with long blond hair and blue eyes. She wears her hair half up with her trademark red hair bow. Due to Minako's duties as a Soldier and also playing volleyball in school, she is a bit athletic in build as well. Depending on the time period, she is most often seen in her middle school uniform or high school uniform, which usually consists of a blue skirt (middle school is lighter, high school is more a navy blue), with a white blouse and a blue sailor collar. Her middle school uniform has a red scarf tied around the sailor collar and is her most recognizable outfit.
Outside of school, Minako wears a variety of fashion styles from feminine and sexy to casual and comfy. She is often seen in skirts and dresses, wearing bright colors and pastels. A lot of times you will see her in her signature colors which are usually oranges, yellows and blues. Minako also knows how to layer with blouses and jackets for the cooler months and is often seen in short skirts and sun dresses in the summer.
She also has several idol outfits that are generally bright and flashy with poofy skirts and a lovely selection of bathing suits for idol competition and relaxing with the girls during Summer Vacation.
(Picture just for fun)
Personality:Minako has a varied personality, but most often is seen as bubbly, over dramatic, a little ditzy and not always very bright in her studies. She is often messing up common sayings and proverbs, finding herself being corrected by Ami or Artemis. She is very idealistic and goes to great lengths to achieve her goals, these often lead to comical scenarios. Minako is often seen as a love and idol chaser, but she does not let that get in the way of her duty as a Sailor Soldier. Often she declares herself as "The Goddess of Love" and attempts to solve others' love woes. Minako likes sports--volleyball in particular, video games, singing and idols. She dislikes studying and math in general (it can also be said she is not a big fan of children as they often get on her nerves except for Chibiusa). Her main dream is to become a popular idol. It is shown that she has the skills and ability to become an idol but always puts her duty above her dreams.
Minako also has a serious side that comes out when she's focused on her duty as a Sailor Soldier and in particular leader of the Sailor Soldier's who protect Princess Serenity. She is often perceptive of enemies and able to formulate plans and strategies for battle rather well. When fighting against the Undead and Vampires in Transylvania, she (along with Michiru whom she worked with) was well aware of the trap that was being planned for the Sailor Soldier's by the enemy and purposefully stayed back in order to save her friends from the trap.
It can assumed that despite her cheery nature, she is somewhat weighed down by the duty she is sworn by and her responsibilities and maybe possibly depressed from it all. She is able to cope with it though and rarely shows this side to anyone, even Artemis. However, she might appear abnormally cheerful and stubborn when something is truly bothering her, like when she realized she hadn't been attacked by the Death Busters and may not have a pure heart.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:Minako is athletic and good at sports, particularly volleyball, this also makes her agile and good fighter. She speaks English fluently and is the self proclaimed "Goddess of Love". She is also a natural leader.
History:Depending on the version, Minako's origin varies slightly. However, in all versions, she is the first to be awakened by a white magical cat named Artemis as Sailor V. As Sailor V, she fights various youma and solves other mysteries. In the manga, Minako is bubbly and carefree as she goes about her fights and day to day life. She jumped from "true" love to "true" love until ultimately falling in love with Kaitou Ace. Ace turned out to be a minion of the Dark Agency (revealed to be beginnings of the Dark Kingdom) and it was then that Minako awakened as Sailor Venus, regaining her memories from her past life in the Silver Millennium. It is hinted that in her past life, Venus had fallen in love with one of Prince Endymion's generals, Kunzite. Ace then cursed her to never being able to find love, which would help her be able to pick duty over love, which she ultimately in the end, does.
After her stint as Sailor V, Minako reveals herself as Sailor Venus and the princess they had been looking for to Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. However, this was actually part of a plan to be a decoy to ultimately protect the true princess, who was actually Sailor Moon. When Sailor Moon awakens, Sailor Venus goes back to being just Sailor Venus and leader of the Sailor Soldiers. As the group make it to the moon to help remember their past lives, it is Minako who is able to pull the Holy Sword out of the stone. The sword is made of the Illusionary Silver Crystal and she uses the sword in order to kill Queen Beryl when she and the brainwashed Endymion attacked the Sailor Soldiers in their base under the Crown Arcade.
In the anime, before she began to fight with the other Sailor Soldiers, Minako had spent some time in England fighting the Dark Kingdom as Sailor V. There, she fell in love with a man named Alan. On one of her missions, she met a woman named Katarina, who was an Interpol police officer. The two spent time together, Katarina taught her English, and Minako regarded her as a big sister. During a mission, she (as Sailor V) was caught in an explosion, and Katarina believed that she died. Minako escaped, but saw Alan and Katarina together, seeing that the two loved each other and became a couple, without despising it. Minako decided to let the two believe that she was dead, and moved back to Japan soon after.
There, she meets up with the other Sailor Soldiers and saves them from one of Kunzite's traps. Here, Minako is shown to be completely devoted to her mission of fighting the Dark Kingdom and finding the Moon Princess, as she has the strongest memories of her past life as a Sailor Soldier. Later in the series, Katarina returns and is being used by Kunzite as a youma to get to Sailor V, considering he believes Sailor V knows who the Sailor Soldiers are. After she is restored by Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus, Katarina and Minako reunite and become friends again.
From there she continues on with Sailor Moon and team to defeat Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom.
Minako continues to bond with her friends and fights in many battles, dedicating herself entirely to protecting Usagi and their future.
Other Noteworthy Facts:Minako is a Libra and has a blood type of B. Her favorite food is curry and least favorite are shiitake mushrooms. Her name means "Beautiful Child of Love" and is the only character whose name is not a pun based off of her planet. Minako can also be alternately read as "Venus" (Biinasu), providing another pun. She is also the only one to have been awakened twice, once as Sailor V and then as Sailor Venus.
Storyline Specific Information: To come soon
String of Spirits (Note:no storyline yet, just ooc thread. Adding info for that RP for reference)
After the fall of the Silver Millenium, Queen Serenity uses the Ginzuishou to send the souls of Princess Serenity and her court to be reborn on Earth in the future; her wish to have them lead normal, peaceful lives there. Unfortunately, a malefic force has blocked their souls in their journey to rebirth, causing Princess Serenity and Sailors Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Venus to be trapped in the spirit realm. Here, they meet a Tyra Teleen, a spirit who is trying to desperately save both the spirit realm and human realm. She tells them the realms are connected by an item called The String of Spirits and an evil spirit, who has gathered a following, wishes to sever this item to allow them to invade the human world. The group must stop this spirit in order to save both the worlds and their souls.
In this time, Sailor Venus's civilian name is Aphrodite, something originally alluded to in the Sailor V manga. Her personality is similar to her more serious nature, with some quirks of humor here and there. She did harbor romantic feelings for one of the Earth's generals, Kunzite, but has since been burned by his betrayal in the attack on the Moon Kingdom.

(In the 90s anime, she receives this, along with the other Soldiers, during episode 62, when Ami debates on studying abroad in Germany. However, we don't see Sailor Venus use this pen until episode 65, when she has a dispute with Makoto over love).

Sword of the Silver Crystal - A sword discovered on the surface of the moon when Venus and the other Sailor Soldiers went to the Moon. Venus was the only one who could pull it free and thus was destined to use it to defeat Queen Beryl. The sword disappeared after their final battle against the Dark Kingdom.

Communicator - Device given to her by Artemis (or Luna depending on the version), used to communicate with the other Soldiers.
Guardian:Minako's guardian, partner and best friend is Artemis, a white magical cat who awakened Minako before the rest of the Sailor Soldiers. Artemis was originally an adviser to Queen Serenity along with Luna. It seems they were originally from the planet Mau.
RP Sample:Warm water rained onto Minako's face as she stood in the shower eyes closed. Her mind was racing with thoughts, going over what had happened only just a few days ago. She had been in China and was so sure of her love for Ace...but now... Tears mixed with the water, she had regained her memories from so long ago of that tragic day. The attack on the Moon Kingdom and the ultimate death of Princess Serenity, the girl that she had been sworn too and could not protect. Her heart ached as she felt so many mixed emotions. They had been happy then...spending time with the Princess and the other Soldiers, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter. She wanted to desperately meet them again and she knew she would soon. The time just wasn't quite right.
Her thoughts then drifted to the Earth of the past...how beautiful it looked from their castle on the Moon, the green grass, gentle breeze and beautiful flowers of Earth, nothing compared to the beautiful shine that was Earth. She remembered how she always had to go down their to retrieve their mischievous Princess. Minako bitterly smiled at the thought, how could she ever look down on Serenity's love with Endymion for after all, she was the reincarnation of the goddess, Aphrodite. Love was in her nature and she could see the red strings of fate tied between the two, no matter how forbidden it was in their societies. The picture of a man with silver hair entered her mind. That general, one of the Four Heavenly Kings, often smiled at her fondly when she had to go to Earth. They were both kindred spirits, leaders, and always having to look after their respective charges. Her heart beat faster for a moment...She had once loved him.
Until they were betrayed. With that last thought, she promptly finished washing herself in the shower and turned off the water. Minako stepped out, wrapping herself in a towel and stood in front of the mirror, her gaze mindlessly focusing on the sink. She was angry, sad and confused...however, she looked into the mirror, meeting her gaze with her reflection as another emotion washed over her. She was determined. She would change it this time. She would not let the past repeat itself. This time, she would save everybody.
