- Your character is running late for a meeting! Why are they late and what do they say when they get there?
Of course she had slept in again. Aino Minako was not a morning person. The sun would rise, the birds would start chirping and somehow her whole body just did not respond in kind. Instead, she would sleep away, only to be risen after repeated and obnoxious assaults on her ears by the alarm clock.
After almost three years, she thought she'd be used to putting up with her mother's nagging about it.
Not so.
And today, Minako felt like she could really use a break.
Eyeing the low wall ahead of her, she turned it into high gear.
Estimate distance. Gain speed. Mid-stride crouch and spring! With one fluid motion, she was up the wall, using one arm to swing her body over the top.
Now land! Her eyes instantly found the spot that would make contact with her feet. She panicked.
"CAAAAAAT!!!"
Arms and legs flailed as she tried desperately to will herself even an inch away from her unintended target. Lucky for it, the cat seemed to have enough wits to bolt instead of freeze in place (unlike a certain other feline she knew). For a split second, Minako was staring into a cute little purple face. The next, it was gone and there was only pavement.
"Waa? Purp-OOFFF!!" The lithe girl barely got a foot underneath her before the rest of her body came toppling over hard into the asphalt. Groaning in pain, she pressed herself up onto one elbow to stare back in the direction she thought she saw the small cat run to. There was no sign of the offending ball of fur.
Oh, great. A mystery on top of my late arrival and missing homework assignment... Fifteen minutes later, bruised and a little bloody, she pulled the sliding door to the classroom open as slowly as she could. Unfortunately, the lack of speed only seemed to make its normal squeaking louder. The room fell silent and thirty-two pairs of eyes stared blankly at the latecomer.
"I guess it could use a little oil, huh?..." She plastered on a neutral smile to go with the comment but Minako's voice felt foreign in the empty silence, the words floating out of her mouth before she had really thought about them. She tried her best to ignore the disapproving stare from the teacher that was boring into her as she made her way otherwise gracefully to her seat.
"AINO MINAKO!! Explain yourself!"
She winced.
Nope. Definitely no breaks today.
