Well, my dad knows what it is. He doesn't really like it though. He's more into older sci-fi anime, if any at all. My mom doesn't really know what it is at all, but is fine with me liking it. I showed my brother the first episode, which he liked, but haven't been able to show him any since.

My parents heard of Sailor Moon, yes - but they never saw it themselves, thus they don't like it xD
Nonetheless my parents are very tolerant and respect my love for the anime (and for all the other animes I like too xD). Like they would always buy me merch or OSTs xD

However, this wasn't always the case. When I got into Sailor Moon last year and asked them to order a Sailor Moon inspired necklace for me (since I'm not full-aged I'm not allowed to order myself) they refused, saying that it was only a phase of mine and that they wouldn't spend money for it.
But as time went by, they gradually realized that it wasn't only a phase and that I really love it. Since then they've been more understanding when it came to animes

Both of my parents have seen the dic dub when I was in High School and just getting into it about ten years ago. (ok, a little over ten years ago). I think they both buy into the myth that it was censored because it was porn (you know because that's all anime is lol). They did watch some of it with me because they did try to take an interest in things I like. I think my mother would like it if she sat down to watch it, especially now that I had to move back in with her. I think they both wish I would "Out Grow" it, but they really never cared either way. The only time I got my mother to watch anything anime related was the Black Butler and Death Note live action movies. She did say she liked those, but will not watch the anime.

My parents are pretty ok with it. If they see me doing sailor moon related things they just shrug and not really react, which is actually a pretty chill response from my parents :bunnykonataeye

Yes. While I lived with my mom and dad, they didn´t mind at all. I was having fun, so it was ok with them. My mom sometimes looked at the tv and laughed a bit with Luna, in particular. She said "This kitty got such a deep and serious voice!" My grandma also found it cute. Her fave was Sailor Mercury.

Later, my parents broke up and I started to live mostly with my mom and my grandma. All these years, both never complaint about my tastes. Actually they still like it. Grandma, in particular, like anime songs a lot, including Sailor Moon ones.

Sailor Moon is considered "for girls" in my father's house and for kids / too silly for adults in my mother's house. So I guess I can answer this question by: no. Not that I mind, it's not my problem, it's theirs truly, but discussing it would be quite like talking to a wall with any members of my family.

No. My subs are so bad that I would have to still explain things to her. Plus that might be a little "silly" for her. I don't know sometimes it is had to tell with her. I bet she would like Crystal if I could get her to watch it animated. Maybe one day when she leaves I'll watch it in her room. She will sit there and won't kick me out. Which subs do you use? TV Nihon or Miss Dream? Subs for the show aren't hard to find. Miss Dream's subs are based on the DVD version, without all the sponsors, but I recommend TV Nihon's because their subs don't have entire lines left untranslated like MD's do sometimes.

Nah. My dad thinks it's kind of silly that I still like it and sometimes forgets about it entirely lol, while my mom most likely thinks it's silly as well, but she's always looking out for SM stuff for me :>

My friends tease me and I know when I've requested games when I was like 16-early 20s for b-days and Christmases like Harvest Moon or Pokemon, my step mom has been like wtf you're too old for that crap. My dad's a lot more chill about it, but I can see him gently, teasing me about Sailor Moon. 

But he doesn't know about it, nor do most of my IRL friends. I tend to keep those parts of my life extremely separate. Almost no one is allowed into my room unless I really trust them because I have pokemon plushies and now a few Sailor Moon S.H Figurearts running around. My dad's never commented about the plushies but he also tends to keep any negative opinions to himself, just how he was raised. My grandmother was a firm believer of if you don't have anything nice to say, don't freaking say it.

My mom used to watch the Dub with me. I'm not really sure if she liked it, but she knew it was something I treasured with my entire heart, and still to this day reminds me of the time we spent together watching TV Recorded VHS of Sailor Moon. It's a great memory I have since my mother worked a lot and it was one of the few times I got to spend time with her.

My mom is still amazed that I like it, after more than 20 years. And by amazed, I mean in a, "But you're an adult now! Why do you still like this comic?" My mom think it's nice that I draw stuff, but after a while the question of "why don't you draw something else?" usually comes up. My dad on the other hand, doesn't really care or have much to say about my interest in anime.

I sent my dad a selfie of me as Sailor Neptune. The reply I get from him "Haven't you out grown that?" This from a man who can watch Short Circut (an 80's/early 90's movie about a robot) over and over and over and over again, and still talks to me in that high baby talkish voice.

My parents don't know it exists. I don't think my mom would like it at all but my dad watched Speed Racer as a kid and bought me and my brothers the entire series so I think he'd be okay with it. I showed my brother a picture once and he thought it was Winx Club.

Bumping this thread because I think it's an interesting topic, and I'd like to see what some of our newer members think.

As for me, my mom and dad haven't seen Sailor Moon, but they know I like it and they support me. I don't think either of them really understand what it's about, probably because I don't do a great job of explaining sometimes, but they don't mind at all that I'm a big fan--they both think it's cool that I'm a part of a Sailor Moon forum. My mom also bought me the manga (before I had my own money), so obviously she doesn't think it's a waste of time or anything, and I'm pretty sure my dad feels the same way. They've also watched a bunch of Studio Ghibli movies with me, so I know they're definitely not opposed to anime.

Yes, I agree, very interesting subject as everyone's parents/guardians are different.

I was first introduced to SM anime when I was 5ish and I could remember my mom liking it as well. She didn't watch it all the time, but I could remember some days where I would look over to her on the couch and she was silently watching with me. =)   She bought the mangas for me as well when they were first printed and released here by tokyopop. My mom grew up watching some older anime like speed racer, astroboy, kimba the white lion, gatchaman, and some others so she was always interested in what new animes or manga my sister and I were into.  She would even play or games on our NES.
My dad on the other hand, didn't mind it when I was little. Now that I'm older and have a kiddo of my own he says he's a little ok with it, but has made the occasional comment of "you're too old to be watching those cartoons". Same goes for the manga. I have a library/game room in our house and anytime he sees something new, he just has to make a remark about spending money on "kids things". He's been here while I've been watching the newest episode of Crystal and although he sits and watches with me, he still jokes that it's for kids.  I have noticed he's really into more action packed animes though so maybe it's just the magical girl thing he doesn't like or bores him.

^I've noticed that with my dad too. Like he liked stuff like Voltron but he says Sailor Moon never really interested him and he doesn't seem to like other magical girl-y stuff like Star Versus the Forces of Evil and Stevn Universe (though I think there are other reasons I won't go into why he dislikes the latter). It's kinda weird, especially since I know there are guys here on this very forum not too much younger than him who like Sailor Moon. So who knows.

Yes, my hubby loves watching Sailor Moon as well... mostly because he's a big fan of Mars and now Saturn. He's even watched them without me when they aired... Not cool. I have maybe two other guy friends who admit they are into it.

My dad vaguely knows what it is (or at least knows of it) but otherwise doesn't know anything or care to watch it. He thinks me more as a Pokemon fan XD. Same with the rest of the family, they just know I like anime and manga n stuff.

My parents both tolerated it when I was a kid. I don't think either of them have ever seen a full episode (maybe my mom has, I don't know). I do know my mom's favorite character is Black Lady. Me and my sister are both big into BSSM, so we both have lots of toys, posters, etc...my parents indulge our fandom.
