| I'm not sure about the other ones but for the scarf thing, if you have a sewing machine you could fold the fabric on the edge over a thin stiff wire and then use wire cutters to cut off the ends ^^ Then you can adjust the scarf to whatever position you want ^^ |

| Yes I do have a sewing machine! As for the wire's thickness, do you think that jewelry wire would work or do you think that would be too thin? I found this exact type of wire in my supplies. (For an idea of the item's size, the blue tag is about 2 inches (5 cm ish) tall. |

| Jewelry wire would work (it's what most people use!) but it's going to need to be fairly thick or else it will lose its shape throughout the day. The wire you have pictured is far too thin.
As for the belt buckle, I would look into Krylon spray paints! They have quite a few that are suited for metal. You'd just need to tape off/cover whatever you don't want to get paint on and then do a few coats (with drying inbetween). |

Krylon can do wonders on metal, but in order to look its best, it will need to actually be sprayed on with the can and not painted with a brush. Depending on the size of the can vs. the size of the buckle, you might need to remove the buckle from the belt (if at all possible) to avoid any spray over (otherwise just cover the belt really well before painting). I'm not sure, though, if you'll need a top-coat to prevent rub-off (depending on the metal and how well paint dries on it), so I'd give it a few test wipes just to be safe. |

Is there a particular brand, type, and/or approximate thickness of jewelry wire that you would recommend? Does Darice produce thicker wire? - Maritime wrote:

Luckily I am making the belt by hand, so none of it has been attached yet. C: I will see what my local craft store has in terms of Krylon spray paints suitable for metal. If I cannot find the right red, I might try out a buckle covering kit. |

| I was actually going to suggest wire too. Been pinteresting cosplay things since I'm going to a con this summer with a friend. Saw a tutorial for making the bow for Princess Serenity's dress and it used wired in it. You could adapt that to the scarf just like suggested above. Annnnd Id link you to it but apparently I didn't pin it. Poop. Also, Ive been seeing some stuff for wigs on pinterest too (its such a great way to find things lol). Here is one thing for removing the shine from a synthetic wig: http://alexamadden.deviantart.com/art/Removing-the-shine-to-your-wig-353751870 If I come across any dyeing tips, I'll try to remember to link them. :3 Good luck with your cosplay! I hope you post pics when its done. |

I could probably post some progress pictures too. UPDATE: I went to to store and picked up 16 gauge AND 20 gauge jewelry wire because I didn't know which one was a good thickness. I would assume that the thicker 16 gauge wire might be better because it will be supporting around a yard of fabric, but I am not sure if it would make things too stiff. Small Lady, if you see the stumble upon the Princess Serenity bow tutorial again, please do let me know what gauge wire they used when making it. I will try to look around for some tutorials as well just to get an idea of what worked and what didn't. |

| That's alright! I ended up going with the 16-gauge wire and it worked fantastically! I even won my first costume contest with the cosplay! Thanks again to everybody for the suggestions! I am working on getting some pictures posted of the costume. |

| I just realized that I have no clue where to post any of this. Is there a topic already made for cosplays or should I start one of my own? And where?
Thanks! |
