If her mother has blonde/silver hair with blue eyes and her father has black hair with blue eyes, than why does Chibiusa have pink hair and red eyes?

Of course, Usagi OD'ed on Pepto-Bismal during her pregnancy and Chibiusa doesn't get enough sleep, so her eyes are bloodshot.

Of course, I've heard that in the original design that Sailor Moon had pink hair, but that doesn't seem like an explanation to me. I've also seen fan fictions that propose that Chibiusa's real mother is Sailor Pluto... which still doesn't freakin' explain the pink hair.

Maybe since Queen Serenity had white hair and Usagi has blonde hair it is just an addition to the pascal theme??

I've always wondered about this. Maybe it has something to do with King Endymion having violet hair and Neo Queen Serenity having blonde hair. Violet + Blonde = ¿Pink?

But there theory is sketchy if you think about the Moon Dynasty. Queen Serenity, Princess Serenity and Neo Queen Serenity all have silver/white hair according to NT in her drawings.

Maybe the pink hair and red eyes was an animators brain child.

I just found some pictures that might explain Chibi Usa's hair. It's almost like a throw back mixed with the fact that King Endymion's hair is a dark violet colour (even though as Tuxedo Mask he has black hair?) But as for the eyes, the whole Pluto thing works because Setsuna has red eyes. Hmm.

Pink is the "color" of Sailor Moon, just like green is Jupiter's and blue is Mercury's. Serena was originally going to have pink hair, but the idea was scrapped (to make her a LITTLE bit more of an Everyman?)- but Naoko didn't give up on the idea of a pink-haired moon warrior, it seems. Also, it fits her personality as the little kawaii one.

Also, time-traveling-future-children have to have pink hair. Trunks' parents don't have pink hair, either. It's something that the time void does.

(EDIT TO ADD: Not that Vegeta with pink hair wouldn't be SO EPIC. I wish now that Toriyama had done that, and waited until months into his appearance to release a color drawing, to troll the fans...)

I read Naoko Takeuchi wanted her to resemble an albino rabbit. Her hairstyle was intended to look like rabbit ears and that's why her eyes are red.

However, I did read a headcannon on tumblr about they thought it had to do with their Sailor Crystal and how they each had their own color, i.e. Mercury = Blue, Mars = Red, etc. etc. And since Chibi Moon's is pink, thus the pink hair, etc.

BUT, yeah. You really can't logically explain hair colors in anime, especially when it comes to family relationships. They really don't care about genetics. ^^;

I think has something to do with...dare I say it....I hate english...their such..ugh liars...I think it is a symbol for the fact that chibi-usa is a child, she never really takes on any leadership (like being queen) throughout any of the series and plus she is a little girl and well Pink fit.

And, yeah, she's just kind of a cutesy little "mini-me" for Usagi, so I guess it makes sense. (The pink little girl is also paired with Helio, the blue little boy, so it may be a nod to gender-color motifs...)

^^ yeah, that's what it was. Naoko meant for Ikuko to have pink hair - the animators changed it to purple, but kept Chibi-Usa's hair pink. T'was genetic.

It involves Timey-Wimey stuff. In an alternate timeline in a layered dimension, Pluto was her mother- but Endymion marrying Pluto caused political unrest and doomed earth to perpetual civil wars- which caused his eventual assassination. With a broken heart, Pluto rewrote her timeline to prevent this. The red eyes, a carryover from a a future which might have been, are the last remnant of this. /crack theory FTW

That's actually a really interesting theory! It also makes heaps of sense. Haha.

I always believed that Chibiusa was given her pink hair because the original hair color of character concepts of Sailor Moon - it was pink XD I think secretly she still wanted to give a character pink hair just for the hell of it.

As for the pink eyes, I think it's also just a play on the word "Usagi" since albino rabbits has red eyes.

a friend and i on DA came up with our own intresting theory a while ago...

I like that theory! The only problem I see with your theorizing about Queen Serenity, is if you are going by the manga, her fav color would've had to been silver/white because Princess Serenity's hair color is white/silver. However, the anime kinda changes all that...and PGSM well... we just won't go there.lol

I think chibiusa inherited it from Ikuko-mama. Specially after those manga scans!

Naoko originally really wanted Usagi's hair to be pink, but someone (Her editor I think?) made her change it to blonde.

I think having Chibi-Usa's hair as pink was her way of saying "I CAN HAVE A PINK-HAIRED CHARACTER IF I WANT TO. >P"

Maybe her hair color is based on there attacks, Chibiusa attack name in the anime was "pink sugar heart attack".also doesn't she has a pink crystal. or Naoko just wanted a hair color to match her senshi fuku. It`s so many endless theory's about her hair color XD.

I never really thought of it, to be honest. I mean originally, all the characters were supposed to have really random colors (Makoto's was supposed to be green, Usagi's was supposed to be pink as well as Ikuko) so I mean....I just figured that Chibiusa was a just an anime character with pink hair.

Anime and manga characters have some pretty random hair colors having nothing to do with heredity. That's the MAGIC OF IT. HAHA
