| EDIT: ReUploaded the screenshots of the game!I've spent a couple of days in the chat (which is at the bottom of the forum home page!) chatting to a bunch of our members and other admins only to find that not many of you have never heard or played Sailor Moon: Another Story (SMAS). This baffled me, as it was one of the best games I thought I ever played, and it's where all of my sprites come from! It's also a pretty popular game for most Sailor Moon spriters, and those on Deviant Art. - Quote :
- Pretty Solider Sailor Moon: Another Story is an RPG by Angel; released in 1995 in Japan for the Super Nintendo. The game carries the same humor and action that we all love from the Sailor Moon anime. The storyline takes place after the SuperS season of Sailor Moon.
The game was released ONLY in Japan and it wasnt until 1999 that the fans completed the English Translation version. It is as close to the Japanese version as they could manage, which to my understanding is pretty accurate. They did, however, leave the voice acting alone so all the scouts speak using their Japanese Anime attacks (the Japanese voice actor for Usagi will yell "Moon Healing Activation!" when she performs her attack). The game has a few good hours of solid game play, though you can quickly find out that if you don't level up properly, you find yourself unable to move forward and forced to start all over again. The player gains complete control over Usagi and the Inner and Outer Senshi when they are all group together allowing you to create your own teams of Scouts. It also offers hours of side-questy goodness to find enemies such as the Black Moon family. While I find that it's easy to cheat the game system by putting the strongest Senshi (Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, and I forget who else) into one party and overpowering everyone, the story more than makes up for some of these crippling oversights. It's a compelling story that involves Time Travel, enemies from the not-too-distant future, and all our beloved scouts. The game is now available for download here as a Super Nintendo rom. This means you will need to download a Super Nintendo emulator, which is pretty simple and offers the ability to play any Super Nintendo game on your computer. Installation is safe and easy from the website linked above, and I highly recommend playing this game before you can consider yourself a "true fan!" P.S. Here are some Screen shots of the English Translation, so you can see what you're dealing with!

| And since its running on a SNES Rom, you can pause and save whenever and use the fast forward controls and so on and so forth. I need to get around to playing it. I got stuck about an hour into the game when the team first splits off and you are Mercury. Do you want to grind your characters before then or after? Cause i really didn't see where else I could go grind with Merc except in that cave... Uh yeah... |

| I would start grinding before that, but if not, definitely start doing it when you're solo. You need to be at the very least level 16 for your first set of solo boss fights, but I was level 18-20 and still had a bit of a difficult time. I read somewhere that due to the algorithm that's used in the fighting mechanic of the game, it really depends on who goes first in a fight. Either you one-hit KO an enemy or they one-hit KO you.
Although with this game you cannot save anywhere. You can only save at Luna P balls (unless your emulator is letting you save anywhere.) |

| If you are using ZNES you can make saves OUTSIDE of the in-game save sytem. I think other roms share this feature too. |

That's what happened to me too! Someone a while back told me the best thing is just to grind before that point. It seems this gam requires a lot of grinding (for those that don't know grinding means doing the same tasks (in this case fighting battles a lot) over and over again to either level up or get stats or what have you). |

| I've actually played SM: Another Story through a single time, its a really good game, relatively unknown because it was never translated into English. The current English translation is a ROM patch that was done by fans. The game's story is similar to the second season - people from the future; but they are being manipulated. Villains from the first three seasons are revived and remixed - each Inner senshi has to go on personal missions to different regions of the world - people who ship the Inner girls with the Shitennou would like this game in particular, as they have a real presence. The game mixes the canon and fanon of both the anime and manga, its pretty interesting. The main villains are six "oppositio" senshi and their ruler, Apsu. They are all named/designed around Mesopotamian mythology. To find out more about the game, you can check out this site: http://www.fantasyanime.com/animerpgs/pssm.htm Under "downloads" you can actually get the game and play it |

| Well actually they're not quite being manipulated, its a bit deeper (*cough deeper than any of the anime villains reasoning* You guys must play to find out what these villains are up to! its a fantastic heartbreaking game perfect for Sailor Moon fans! I would even consider letting this join in Anime, Manga, PGSM and SeraMyu as canon. |

| i finished a few days ago, it was fun. i had the same issue with ami as i didn't not know about leaving up. but you are fighting solo you must put them in the front. so their attack dose more damage. but this also means that the enemy attack will hurt you more. i have some. can't find the 3rd one. :/ i may replay this game later and try to make more screen caps. |

I'd love to remake each season (a mix of canon, perhaps..) as roleplaying games =D I think it would be an awesome project. |

| I restarted playing it. I love this game. I played all the DQ and FF, and this game is one of the best RPGs the SNES ever had in my opinion. Thought, somebody who never saw SM might be a bit stuck :/
Thought, I'm stuck again T_T" When ChibiMoon's lot have to beat the Witches 5 at the Crystal Points. Neptune and Uranus have BADBADBAD stats. (they die against all the MoTD they meet) Anybody knows if there is a special equipment in the area or something? I only have Haruka's amber tiara so far. |

| I played this game a few years ago thanks to downloading it online and it became an instant favorite of mine as soon as I started playing. Then I lost it after I had to reformat my computer due to a virus because I was afraid to back up anything. The person who made this thread probably won't see this but I have to say thank you anyway for the link. I'm going to enjoy playing this through again. - Small Lady wrote:

| I have this game^^ I play it on my emulator. I've played it too many times though so now I'm taking my hand at a fan created Sailor Moon RPG game creating using Sailor Moon:Another Story as a base. It's a reaaaaaaaaallly long game and they did a pretty decent job at it but they definitely made it harder. - Quote :
- Its after S, not SuperS. :3 Just so everyone's sure. ^^
It is after neither S or SuperS. Sailor Moon another story is kind of like an OVA it is based on the anime and the manga and they've changed and added bits to the Sailor Moon saga. It can be considered it's own mini series. It features things from the anime and things from the manga. Also, if it ended after S Hotaru would be a baby but she's not, she's not even a small child and yet Sailor Moon has to use the Chalice to become super. It's a game set up though, they probably just wanted to use the items who knows^^ I wish they'd make more u_u the other games made sequel like games but there was only ever one Official Sailor Moon RPG. Makes me sad, they couldv'e done so much. I wanna learn how that other person made the fan Sailor Moon Rpg and make my own one day^^ |

| There is a program called RPG Maker, I've never used it, but thats how a lot of people make fanRPGs. Also, I'd like to say that even though I can't read Japanese, looking at the scans of the booklet from the game, it seems like it was definitely intended to be a tie in after S and most likely the Infinity Arc as well, thus the reason they take from both anime/manga. All the of the art in there uses screenshots from the S opening sequence and other various things. Having Hotaru not be a baby is probably just plot device and convenience to be able to have her in the game. While yes, I think you're correct in saying it can be its own story, I think it definitely fits inbetween the S/Infinity Arc and SuperS/Dream Arc. |
