I thought it would be fun to share memories of playing pokemon as a kid or as an adult.
As a kid my first game was actually pokemon pinball for the Gameboy. I asked my dad for a Gameboy Color for Christmas and around that time I was getting into pokemon. So I also asked him to get me the game with Pikachu on it. I learned quickly to learn game titles because guess what game he got me? Pokemon Pinball. It had Pikachu on it. I ended up loving it anyway. Then the following year I asked my mother to get me Pokemon Yellow for my Birthday. I remember that very well! We drove to the toy store and I brought my GBC with me. When we returned to our car, I popped the cartridge into my GBC. The screen turned on and I was so excited. I even showed my mother that Pikachu was surfing in the title opening.
I was obsessed with Pokemon Yellow. I played it non stopped and sadly I wasn't really good at it. I was really into the anime at that time and I wanted my Pikachu to be like Ash's Pikachu. So I over trained it thus making me realize I should have trained my other pokemon, when I got the 8th gym. But hey! I beat it with a level 12 Bellsprout. I also made other dumb choices. I used a master ball on a Raticate and I restarted my file while on Victory Road. I regret to this day because I still haven't beaten Pokemon Yellow. I don't think I ever will because well the gameplay is so outed.

My First Pokemon game was one of the DS games from a few years back-I think it was either HeartGold or SoulSilver, which I still own. I then got the GBA games, which I really didn't touch much. And I also got the Mystery Dungeon and the Ranger games, which I enjoyed really only the one Ranger game. I also have Pokemon X and Y now. I also got Pokemon Black and White 1 and 2, but lost the cartridge to one of those. Have not gotten the newest ones.

My first Pokemon game was Red, and I got it for the Gameboy Pocket. I don't even know what drew me to the game, but I liked the cover (having never even heard of Pokemon), and actually got really into it before it became a "thing" at my school. I had the strategy guide and everything, lol.
Later on I ended up getting Blue and Yellow. After that, there was Pinball and Pokemon Snap (for the N64), and finally Silver. After that, I sort of fell off the wagon because they were introducing way too many Pokemon, and I was (and still am) a bit partial to the original 150.
I did love the TV show, too. I even found a Pokemon cd at K-Mart (2.B.A. Master) and still have that CD to this day (and listen to it!) When me and my husband first started dating, we were talking about weird stuff we knew how to do and I brought up the fact that I knew the PokeRap.
And for some reason we ended up getting married.
(Oh, and I also played White [but never finished it] and am currently playing Alpha Sapphire.)

Pokémon is pretty much the reason why I'm sitting here, writing in this forum rigth now. It is what introduced me to Anime and Manga and through that ultimately also to Japanese culture- so basically Pokémon even influenced my career
The first game I ever played was Pokémon Blue. I knew about the show before and collected some cards in first and second grade, when the show was new, but I had stopped after the hype was gone. One time in late fourth grade, I visited a friend and she was playing Pokémon. I've never seen the game so I really wanted to watch her play and it really got me interested, so I asked her if I could borrow the game. I had it for quite a while, restarting without saving, playing on her save file, testing glitches I had read about... (thank god I didn't break the game!) and overall, I had tons of fun with it. In summer that year, I turned eleven and because I was so obsessed with Pokémon, my parents actually bought me Pokémon Gold. And so the days of me playing Pokémon all day continued I played at least one of each Gens various editions (Blue- borrowed, Yellow- borrowed, Gold, Crystal- borrowed, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, Diamond, HeartGold, White 2, X, Alpha Sapphire), except for the original Black & White because at that time I got kinda frustrated with the franchise. I also played Pinball and the trading card game at a friend's place sometime in secondary school. But what's simply amazing is the fact that when I played HeartGold, it felt like home. I am so attached to the Johto region that it always makes me all fuzzy inside to play any of the games associated with that. My favorite Pokémon happens to be the grass type starter from that region, Chikorita and playing with it in Pokémon Amie always makes me actually squeal in delight.
I even have a Chikorita plush! (And a Pikachu pillow, and plushes of Pikachu and Lickitung)

I remember playing Blue and doing all sorts of crazy things on that game. Such as: Using a master ball on I think Articuno? Running into Missingno. and even fighting glitched trainers off the coast of Cinnabar Town, blacking out despite having revives/potions, and the like.
I also remember watching the Pokémon anime. I admit it that I teared a little watching "Pikachu's Goodbye."
It was years ago, but it was good fun nonetheless.

My first exprience with Pokemon, I think =P, was playing Pokemon Blue =o I don't remember if the games came out before the show or not, but if the anime came out first, then that was my introduction to Pokemon xD
Anyway! So I used to watch the show when I was younger and such and loved it! Go Vulpix! <3 During one Christmas I received Pokemon Blue and my sister got Pokemon Yellow. We played it tons and I even finished it xD I used to have a Pinball Machine, like an actual like tabletop pinball machine, that had pokemon on it =o My sister and I would also play Pokemon Stadium together, I loved the minigames xD That was many years ago and I still adore and play Pokemon xD Yay!

I'm pretty sure the games came out first, but I don't know if that only applies to Japan. It might be that outside of Japan, games and anime were released about simultaneously.

2001, that's when I started Pokemon Silver on my GBA, took 2 years to finish, by then I was ready to play Ruby, FireRed, Pearl, SoulSilver, and now, OmegaRuby and Y.
I can't believe I'm saying this but, Pokemon runs in my veins. Since Pokemon-Amie, I now have a purpose to treat Pokemon like family.

I remember very clearly my parents getting me both the green GameBoy Color and Pokemon Yellow for my 7th birthday.
