It's a game with an interesting twist - you can only move and attack on the beat of a song! You start off playing as Candace (but you can unlock other characters with their own pros and cons). I love that there are so many female and poc characters!!!

The game starts off easy, because the monsters only move on the beat too. But it becomes way more complex as you enter rooms with more enemies who have different attacks and attack patterns. Some only move up and down, some will run in halftime until they hit a wall, others jump around in figure 8's. My favorite are the little skeletons who throw their hands up and boogie toward you.

There are chests to plunder, walls to dig and blow up, and the bosses are interesting, like The King of Conga whose enemies only move in a conga line and force you to pause every few beats to clap to the rhythm, or this chess board where the goal is to kill the king:

You can move once per beat, or double-move and then stay still for a beat. When you move in time with the song, the floor starts glowing purple and green to let you know that you're getting a multiplier on your coins - which you're going to need once you meet this guy:

the best opera singing shop keeper in the game. Seriously, he sings opera using the words "lalalalala". And the items he doles out all do different things. Glass items are super effective but break if you get hit, blood items heal you when you kill a certain number of enemies, the list goes on.

It's a fun, cheap and challenging little game that's in beta, so it's getting better all the time. You can upload and play to your own music for an added challenge and it's even playable with a dance pad if you're so inclined. If you've got $15 to spare, check it out in the Steam store (or better yet, scoop it up during a sale for dirt cheap)!
