| I’m not sure if someone has already brought this up here ...
I’m re-watching Sailor Moon S right now, and it occurred to me that Telulu’s name—seeing as she uses flowers as her weapons of choice—could be inspired by the Latin word Tellus, meaning planet Earth.

| The vast majority of the Sailor Moon villains are named for minerals/gemstones. Tellu ("teruru") is the first part of the mineral Tellurite ("teruruseki": "Tellurium stone"), composed of tellurium dioxide. The mineral tellurium is named for Tellus, Latin for Earth. So indirectly, yes, she is. (I recommend the etymology articles by Ian Miller on his site Dies Gaudii as far as the sources of names in the Sailor Moon series.) |
