So talk about episode four here! I hope it's okay that I do this. There wasn't a thread yet and I need to gush. 

GAH!!!!!! THE GENERALS WERE ALL TOGETHER IN THIS EPISODE!!!            

I really liked this episode and how the animation was consistent. It all looked great besides some small parts you could easily ignore. I've only see one post about animation on tumblr and it really seemed like they were nitpicking.

I think I shouted 'yes!' when Mako showed up in the preview. I'm very excited for her episode. It also looks like they are finally starting to do things a tad bit differently which is nice. I do feel like the generals look a bit idk...generic? Like besides Kunzite they all look the same to me minus the different hair.

Also did Usagi get a new tiara in the manga? I don't remember that but it was probably there...

i was so excited with this ep and the little things they changed. i do believe the tiara is new, and total forehaddowing if you look at the design it resembles her NQS crown. So glad to see all the generals together and liked the minor change when tux comes back in the end and usagi is still in SM form not civilian form like in the past. I see this veering in a diff direction very soon, and i am excited for it

I think the animation was better as well in this episode. There were a few scenes where you can point out derpy faces,but there were no errors like from episode 2 and 3. Also the English translation is getting better. They're using the word yoma instead of evil. Thank God! Because saying we must stop the evil just sounds awkward to me.

Really? Where did you watch it? I watch it on NicoNico and the translation still said "Evil".

Both the new tiara and Usagi being in Sailor Moon form when Mamoru kissed her were straight from the manga. I'm definitely glad the generals aren't going to be killed easily! I loved how Usagi realized her tiara's gone in the middle of her transformation xD

I kinda wish they'd kept Rei's original dialogues though (like she's a busy woman and now she has to fight evil too, and that suspicious speech where she demands Luna to tell them everything). She's lacking attitude and fire here, and while I preferred her cooler attitude than the old anime's really fiery one, she seems too downplayed here.

I watched it on Crunchyroll. I guess Viz is translating it then? It said evil in the past...

I thought Rei was a cutie in the episode, but I agree. She's too downplayed. Maybe she'll start acting herself once she gets to know the girls? 

Overall I thought the episode okay. It could have been better.

Hmm yeah I was making gifs using I think a CrunchyRoll copy and I noticed some of the translation is different. Interesting... but if Viz translated it that meant they got the episodes ahead of time.

I kinda find this episode underwhelming probably because I expected the animation to be prettier. I actually prefer Usagi's dress from the 90s anime. The white just suits her more than the pink IMO.

Also lack of new senshi introduction might have made it feel less exciting than the other three so far. I can't believe we have to wait 3 weeks for Mako. They'd better make it really good.

So I guess we do have to wait 3 weeks? Then it will have to look top notch!  

I was really excited for this episode and I'm happy that the animation seemed consistent. I'm not sure about you guys but I feel like it was lacking something and I'm not sure what. I loved seeing all of the generals together. I feel like the pace may have been a bit fast. I liked how we saw usagi's father. I also thought the mamoru and usagi moments were cute, but again I think they felt maybe a bit rushed. I liked the images of the senshi as luna introduced them and I loved seeing Matoko at the end of the episode.

0:25 - I am wondering how the press got that photo. Maybe one of the children were awake and decided to take a picture or maybe someone from the Dark Kingdom works for the newspaper

Also Rei and Ami looked sooo pretty in their dresses.

I really enjoyed this episode and I think it's the best one so far.  I love the cute scene of Rei playing the Sailor V game and her high fiving Ami.  It was just too cute!   The dance scene was so beautiful and romantic.   I'm glad they kept the scene of Usagi using the disguise pen to turn into an umbrella as opposed to the original anime where it was Luna who threw it at her.  The scene where Mamoru tells Usagi she saved him this time made me fangasm.  And yeah, the tiara changing was in the manga too but I thought Usagi's new attack was called Moon Twilight Flash in the manga?  Yet here it doesn't seem to have a name at all at least not yet.  I love that they kept Jaedite alive and they seem to be taking this into an original storyline and I'll be curious to see how it turns out.  One thing I'm really glad about is that I'm glad they didn't have Usagi get drunk this time.  I always felt that scene where Tuxedo Mask kisses Usagi while she's drunk in the original anime bothered me a lot and came across as taking advantage of Usagi but I think the new series handled it much better though still a bit problematic.

Kind of weird they felt the need to remind us who the main characters were like we forgot or something, but apart from that I have no complaints. JUPITER! *jumps up and down and falls out of chair*

I was SO SO pleased with the quality of this episode! It's way more tolerable and I was able to focus on the story rather than cringing.

I'm a little sad at some of the things they changed... like Rei, she isn't really Rei to me... She is just... bleh.

I'm sad they didn't have the Rei scene with her being bossy with Luna, or the scene where Usagi tries to get in and can't and pretends to be "Princess Popover"

I'm seeing small differences here and there, and I'm finding the generals to be very interesting, the fact that they brought them all out for an introduction makes me curious how much they will end up deviating.  This seems like a major change point for them to expound on later.

The animation wasn't nearly as awful in this episode as it has been in the past. Although most of the bad shots I noticed happened in the ball sequences. There's still a lot of improvement that needs to be done but this is an improvement.

Going off of Evan MacIssac's review, yeah it was cool seeing all four generals together but it also begs the question as to why they wouldn't attack the scouts outright and defeat literally the only people getting in their way. I adored the extra scene between Ami and Rei. I hope we see more like it as this show goes on.

As a big fan of Rei, I don't mind that she has a sightly different personality in Crystal.  Rei has had a different personality in all the different versions of Sailor Moon.  She had her more fiery persona in the original anime, her elegant persona in the manga, and a combination of the two in PGSM.   Crystal seems to be continuing that tradition of changing her personality each time.

Usagi did give that "My name is Tsukino Usagi!" speech at the beginning of every episode in classic and so I didn't see the problem with them introducing again. I kinda wished Usagi had been the one narrating instead of Luna though.

I was really excited to see this episode! I even managed to convince a friend to watch it along with me so we could talk about it directly afterward.

Like others have said, the animation was much better this time around, and I'm hoping it just keeps getting better. I loved Usagi's dress as well as the other girls' and it was super cute how their tiaras all matched.

I was a bit surprised to see Jadeite still alive, but I did like seeing all of them together rather than having them appear one at a time. Can't wait to see what else they do with that.

That's what I thought when seeing the picture of Usagi on the newspaper; that scene took place in the Dark Kingdom so who took it?? XD

I was also amused that both Rei and Ami gave themselves tiaras.

Also wondering why they didn't name Moon Twilight Flash, maybe they don't wanna show too many different attacks yet?

Ahh yes, Usagi pretending to be a princess from some made-up country when she snuck into the ball, I missed that too. Though I'm amused Luna can't get in.

One thing I've noticed though; Mamoru always looks REALLY good. Like, there's almost no bad frames of him? And Kenji looks drop dead gorgeous too, and I started thinking... are the animators better at drawing men?? Maybe that's the problem?? Because damn the Mamoru drawings are super flawless.

I never understood what the Kingdom of D was anyway.  They say it's the country that produces the most amount of diamonds but I'm pretty sure no such country exists in real life.  So which country is it?  Is it a label for an existing country or is it just some made up country?

So cute how she just keeps blabbing nervously and he just shushes her. You have to enjoy the moment and not be nervous after all.

and i'm so GLAD that Rei is more tolerable on this version because
i hated old Rei, so bossy and...ugh...i don't mind the new Rei because
i can finally love her =_= and also she looks more like manga-Rei which
is more tolerable  =)

Is it just me or does it seem like Usagi is more mischievous in Crystal than she was in the original?  Like in the original anime it was Luna who said they should try to sneak into the dinner party but in Crystal it's Usagi and I love that devilish grin she gets when she suggests it to Luna.

Actually the little info scenes that go over the characters are straight out of the manga xD Naoko only did them during the first arc but they're there ^^

Well just remember the ReiXJadetite scene was in the manga, but nothing much came of it. However him not dieing definitely changes things ^^
