Welcome to Vintage Towers, a quaint little bed and breakfast that is well suited to all of your relaxing needs! My name is Caleb Manners, landlord of this fine estate, and you can come to me with any problems or concerns during your stay here with me. Whether you’re here for a night or a week, staying for business or for pleasure, you’re new or you’ve been here before, my goal is to make you feel at home!

Your private room is one of six on the second floor. Each room is connected to another through a bathroom, but don’t worry, you can always deadbolt lock the opposing door from the inside. I humbly request, however, to remember to unlock those doors when you leave, and carry your key with you, as the doors automatically lock upon closing (to prevent room wandering). Each room has a queen-sized bed, a dresser and vanity, and a small chest for your personal use. Quiet hours start at 9:00 pm; please be courteous to our other guests and respect the quiet hours.

On the main floor we have the lounge, with plush chairs and fireplace, the study, for quiet reflection, the kitchen – but don’t worry, the cooking will be done for you – and the dining room, where we will share our dinners and breakfasts. Lunch is offered but is not covered in your service charge. Might I suggest taking the buggy to town for lunch? The country weather is rather nice this time of year!

Speaking of Spring Break, as an added treat for our younger guests, we will be hosting a Movie Night every other night this week, showing classics near and dear to this old heart!

Special points for this game:

1. Players will be creating their own Diaries; when I sent out characters, I attached a list of traits about your character. The first is general personality or outlook; the next provide clues. The first two or three of the list are light clues, the last of the list are heavy clues. By blackout phase three, you must have revealed each bullet somewhere in your diary entries, however, you do not reveal your guilt or innocence until the fourth blackout phase.
   
2. In this game there is only one murderer. The game ends when you have BOTH knocked out/tied up the murderer AND found his/her diary entry that reveals the truth.
   
3. In this game there is one protector, and the protection radius is the entire room they are searching in. Remember, however, that while the doctor can protect the people in the room with them, they cannot protect themselves.

Tuesday Morning, 7:30 am:


The morning breaks to a terrible thunderstorm; the lights flicker on and off as clock radios sound statically throughout the house. Being breakfast time, our 12 guests (including the help) meander downstairs to the sound of thunder and lighting, heading towards the dining room for their included meal. Feet shuffling and the house a bit damper than usual, most of the guests’ minds were turned inward until suddenly the college-aged young man(Kyle) pauses, throwing his hands out to block the doorway, and yells, “OH MY GOD, MR. MANNERS IS DEAD!”
 
The gardener (Ken) pushes his way past the variously-mooded guests to check the kid’s claim, putting his fingers to Mr. Manner’s neck, and waiting for a pulse. After a moment, he shook his head sadly. “He’s right. He’s dead.” He stood slowly, “And someone here did it.”
 
The blonde woman (Abigale) looked shocked, stepping away from the other people, and then looked at the gardener suspiciously, “What makes you so sure one of us did it?! It could have been a thief! A cold-blooded mass murderer who snuck in and killed him in the night!”
 
The gardener shook his head, pointing to a panel by the front door. In bright red letters, it read LOCKED. “That’s the security system; Mr. Manners locks it every night as soon as the last guest is in, and if one of the doors or windows opens before he unarms the system in the morning an alarm goes off. We would have all woken up.”
 
“Well what are we waiting for?!” the man in the business suit (Robert) cried. “Call the police!”
 
“There’s no cell signal out here!” a college-girl (Bethany) cried.
 
“Then we’d better leave,” the gamer-guy (Simon) commented, putting the phone receiver down, “Because the phone lines have been cut, and that’s typically when the serial killer starts picking off his victims one by one.”
 
“MASS MURDERER!” the blonde (Abigale) cried, screaming dramatically.
 

“No one is going anywhere!” the gardener (Ken) stated, standing. “Someone in here killed poor Mr. Manners, and I’m not letting him, or her, get away! Once we open that door Mr. Manners’s killer is as good as gone and I, for one, won’t stand for it! Nobody leaves until either the police are contacted or we figure out who killed Mr. Manners!”

OOC:

Bethany looked at her phone again and frowned. "Still no signal." She looked up at the others. "Is there, like..." She paused. "Agh, I forgot the word. You know. One of those old-fashioned phones? Um-" She snapped her fingers. "A land-line phone?"

OOC:

"Another landline, I mean?" Bethany asked, looking at the gamer Simon. "That couldn't have been the only phone in here. Maybe Mr. Manner kept another one somewhere."

Cyndi, horrified, stood there in shock. "We need to find the murderer before another one of us gets it, just like poor old Manners here. What do y'all say that we start trying to piece bits together?"

Cyndi thought for a moment, but they'd all only just arrived and no one had really conversed with the other guests, they'd have to wait until events eventually unfolded and people started to become suspicious.

Kyle couldn't stop himself from continuously looking from person to person, trying to see if any of them gave off murder-like vibes. He had watched a lot of horror movies with the guys, so he felt himself to be somewhat of an expert when it came to the typical murderer appearance.

When he stopped staring at all of the others, Kyle stepped closer to Bethany and placed his hand on her shoulder, a feeling of protectiveness welling inside him.

"I think figuring out the murderer would be a good thing too," Kyle added. "We can't just sit here and do nothing, that's just stupid."

"I agree with Kyle" Sara said as she stabilized herself by grabbing Clara.

"I need to think about this," Robert attempted to contemplate on the situation.

"Let's start with some R&D in the study, I'm sure there's something in there to help find out who is not among us," Rob went into the Study to see if anything looked out of sorts.

Unfortunately, nothing turned up this early into the murder. He then went into the Dining room to Write his first journal entry concealed it from prying eyes.

"Oh my Lord!" Shouted Abigale as she slid down to the floor. She couldn't believe what was in front of her eyes!

"This has to be a joke right?" She turned her gaze towards the other people in the room, discretely looking at them one by one. Maybe one of them would have a guilty look on their face. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't wish to stare at a cold, dead, murdered body! Can we get out of this room, please!?!"

Thunderstorms on their first morning? This really wasn’t helping Stu’s mood. He was normally not a morning person, but he got the feeling he would like this morning even less.

By the time he heard the shriek, he knew he was right.

“What?” he muttered to himself as someone dramatically exclaimed that the owner of the bed and breakfast was dead. He craned his neck over other people’s shoulders as one of them went to check the body in the dining room.

“Someone here did it?” he said incredulously. “And who are you? A detective? How do we know he didn’t just… get a heart attack and keel over?”

Things were starting to escalate quickly, and before he knew it, the house had turned into a nightmare cabin in the woods, complete with a potential axe murderer running around. And none of them could leave?! When there was a potential murderer?! That was the most ridiculous thing he’d ever heard.

He moved toward his wife and put one hand on her shoulder. At least this was a good time to be all… protective and gentlemanly. Right? He’d figure out this murder nonsense and be her hero. Easy. “Don’t worry, dear, I won’t let anyone touch you. We’re going to be okay.”

Tara was sleepily following Sara and Clara downstairs to the dining room when the commotion at the front woke her up.  She looked around incredulously, "C'mon, you guys can't be-" her throat shut tight when Mr. Manners lying on the floor came into her view.  She frantically looked for Sara and Clara and rushed over to them.

Bethany smiled halfheartedly at Kyle when he placed his hand on her shoulder. She put her cellphone away. She'd try again when the storm let up. "Alright. I'll play 'detective' for now, but only until we contact the cops," she said to Kyle, but spoke loud enough for everyone to hear.

She looked at Mr. Manners and shivered. He looked like he was sleeping, but he wasn't breathing...

"Like, in the movies, they always search the body for the cause of death." Bethany shivered again. She wrapped her arms around body. "But, like, I read online once that it's a bad idea, 'cuz it gets fingerprints all over the body, and 'contaminates the crime scene.'" She looked at Kyle, but spoke loud enough for everyone to hear: "What should we do?"

"Even though it could help with finding the murderer, touching the body could be a bad idea." Cyndi said, voicing her opinion through all the commotion. "I think we should restrain from touching him... Maybe if we search around where he died? Or seems to of died?"

Cyndi gave Stu a discerning look as he placed his hand on her shoulder, feeling nervous she tried to push his hand off.

"Well I ,for one, am not going to sit around and wait for the murderer to make an appearance! And I'm *definitely* not going to be eating!" Stated Abigale before getting up off the floor and storming off to the living room. She was *not* going to sit around staring at a dead body either, that's for sure. The others could follow or not! She didn't care either way.

In unbelief, Clara looked at her friends with an astonished look on her face. "How could this be?"

"Y'all need to stop with this goddamn noise!" Mr Crabtree barked. All those squealing girls were giving him a headache. And those boys, using this as an excuse to get close to the ladies... this bed and breakfast was turning into another one of those 'Spring Break' places for young, loud, irritating fools and Mr Crabtree did not have the time or patience for it.

Besides, surely Mr Manners wasn't really dead..? Mr Crabtree shuffled forward, nudging out the kids with his sharp elbows. Well, he certainly didn't seem to be moving...But murdered? He rolled his eyes to the ceiling, these young 'uns were so goddamn dramatic these days...

Simon observed the people around him amongst the room. He saw Bethany put her phone away with a look of hope she might have reception soon. "You really think this dinosaurs house has cell phone reception, the darn place doesn't even have a measly television. I would much rather be watching my shows and playing games to prepare for my next tournament, but no I am stuck here at the scene of a crime. How am I going to relax now?" He stormed off back to his room hoping for some quiet time.

Ken didn't know what to do...but one thing he knew for sure is that Mr. Manners soul isn't apart of this world anymore. He looked around trying to get his head together. "We need to find clues...or something." He try to speak carefully...someone in this room murdered Mr. Manners so he needs to be smart about this. "Lets try to search this room from top to bottom." the storm outside was going to water the flowers for him...so he can spend all his time trying to solve this.

Tara looked at Clara and scrunched her face and closed her eyes as she tried to make the gears in her head turn.  They weren't often used for more than fashion and coordinating partie'm's.  "I mean, there had to be a reason or something right?" She looked back at Sara and Clara to explain, "one of the girls back at the house was watching some kind of show, CDI or ZSI, something or other, and the cop guy on there was talking about how there's also a reason." She got distracted for a moment, "started with an 'm' I think..."

Successfully getting Stu's hand off of her shoulder, Cyndi took her leave and trotted off towards the living room to see if Abigale was ok. Despite not knowing her, her motherly instincts kicked in and she was drawn towards making sure people's feelings were in tact after seeing such an atrocious thing. And with Abigale being the first to storm out, something was up.

Clara (the blonde of the group) dumb-foundedly looked over to her friend, "Whaddya mean?"

Abigale looked up from the couch to see...was it Clara? Or Cyndi? She couldn't remember the other females name for the life of her at the moment.

"Can you believe this!?!" Shouted Abigale. "Not only is someone dead, someone in *this* house killed him!!! They killed that man and are now acting just as surprised as the rest of us! Wait...you're not going to kill me now too are you!?!" Abigale stood up and dramatically moved towards the stairs that lead up to the bedroom.

"What? Killing one person wasn't good enough for you!?! Now you have to kill me while I'm all alone in this living room?!"

Clara, thinking Abigale's remark was meant for her, angrily hmmphed and marched off to the kitchen to see if she could find something to eat.

Mr Crabtree grumbled in annoyance that his request for less screetching had been ignored, but he was a tiny bit happier that some of the noise had reduced due to several people leaving the room. What an irritating bunch. He couldn't stand to be in this room any longer. But...They couldn't just leave Mr Manners there, could they..? Ah, he thought, I know what can make this better. A good cup of tea. 


He turned away from the body and shuffled toward the kitchen.

"But... Abigale!" Cyndi whimpered "I wouldn't, I couldn't! If you really wish for me to leave you alone, I'll walk out of this room right now, I just came to see if you were ok. You look a bit shaken, are you ok?"

Cyndi could understand the reaction that she was getting from Abigale. Someone had just been murdered, someone in the building had done it and she stupidly went into a room alone with someone. 


Sometimes motherly instincts can turn out for the worst... Maybe I should think about things first before doing them... 


Still awaiting Abigale's answer, Cyndi took a seat at the other end of the room, checking her surroundings just in case. She picked up a newspaper and started to read it, still waiting for a response from the shaken girl.

Abigale stared at the women as she sat in her chair and opened a newspaper. Would I murderer be so calm afterwards? Would they simply sit innocently reading a newspaper? Most likely not. Thought Abigale. Then again maybe it's the perfect cover!

Abigale took in the image of the women again. She really did look genuinely concerned. If there was a murderer, and it wasn't her, it'd be a good idea to have an ally. If it was Cyndi...well I guess 'keep your friends close, your enemies closer?'

"I guess it's okay if you stay." Said Abigale, slowing making her way back to the couch; not taking her eyes off the women. "And no I'm not okay. Someone was murdered!!!!! Right under our noses nonetheless. And they're still roaming around this house like they're innocent! How are we going to be able to sleep tonight...knowing theyre around and out there...waiting...watching..."

Abigale trailed off her sentence and started biting one of her nails. Ugh, if I get out of here, I am *so* going to need a manicure.

Tara finally remembered the word and turned to tell Clara when that nervous woman yelled something and Clara left for the kitchen.  She felt that this wasn't the time to be separated and quickly followed Clara to the kitchen motioning to Sara to follow.  As she looked at the body one last time a cold shiver went down her spine.  More than anything she want to be away from his body.

"I can't believe someone, killed mr. manners." Samantha said.. she wonder who or why someone would do such a thing..   "So if our phone don't work and if the land lines are down, what can we do" she asked.
