One day, you receive a mysterious letter in the mail. It has your name and address on it, yet it has no return address. And more strangely, the envelope is made out of fancy thick black paper with a bright red wax crest on the back sealing it. Your curiosity gets the better of you, and you open it first. Inside is a faded white parchment like papers, the top one with words written in very elegant cursive and the bottom one with a map of some kind and an address.

Greetings Honored Guest,

You have received this letter of invitation to participate in a Halloween Challenge. You shall arrive at the Black Mansion in one week from the reception of this letter. Once there, you shall participate with others whom have also been invited. Be aware this is a competition with a prize as goal, which only one person can win. You shall learn of what this prize is when you arrive.

There will be a map to the Mansion included with your letter. Please only pack the things you require most. Some of the items you may not bring will include cell phones or anything that will allow contact outside of the house, jewelry made of silver, weapons of any kind, or bibles, especially ones with rites of exorcism included. Anyone who is found to have any of these items will immediately be escorted from the Mansion and forfeit their chance at the wonderful prize we have in store.

Hello everyone! You are invited to participate in Galaxy Cauldron's first Live Roleplaying Event! Because we're so close to Halloween, this was decided to be the subject of this very big step for the Roleplayers of GC.

What is a Live Roleplaying Event?

Quite basically, it's the same as roleplaying on the forum, except in a live chat. Meaning there is likely going to be no posting order, and the storyline will be finished within a reasonable amount of time. This live event will be taking place on Skype.

When is the event?

Thursday 24th, 8 Pm CST to 11 Pm CST
Friday 25th, 8 Pm CST to 11 Pm CST
Saturday 26th, 10 Am CST to 1 Pm CST

What character can I play?

In this special event, you can be anything! You are free to be a canon character, otaku character or just be yourself! No profiles needed. And you are free to join at any point you want. If you can't be on any day except Saturday, then please, by all means come join us then! You do not have to join us from the beginning, you are welcome to jump in or out at any time. When you sign up in this thread, please include the name of your character, if they are canon/otaku/self,your Skype name, and what days we can expect to see you.

What is the story?

You and other characters will be invited to join a competition for a prize at a haunted mansion. While there is no prize for the characters, the players will recieve a special Event Bumper if they participate in more than 50% of any one night, which means 3 bumper prizes! In this haunted house, you will have to work together to unravel the houses history and put the ghosts to rest. There will be 6 rooms with a Clue and Item in each, and there will be 2 rooms per night. You will have to figure out what each Clue means and how to use the Items, all while avoiding the evils that lurk in the darkness.

Events so far

Night One: Minako, Michiru, Hotaru and Haruka meet together at the front of the mansion they have all been invited too. A brewing storm drives them inside, where they are greeted by The Black Lady who invited them all. She informs them that they must figure out the houses history and free the spirits within, using riddles and items hidden in specific rooms. The first room they are guided to is the Library, where unfortunately Minako and Hotaru soon disappear. However, before she disappears, Minako is able to figure out together with Michiru and Haruka that vampires have something to do with the history of the house. In the Library, the couple soon find a vial containing blood, and a book titled "The Life of a Vampiress" that opens the way to a hidden passage. In the passage lie two stairs, one that goes down and is locked by a gate, and the other which leads up into the Attic.

There, Michiru and Haruka find the next riddle, which leads them to a curtained section hiding a chair made of red velvet, on which lies a bound lock of hair. Thinking on the riddles they have, they conclude that someone must have hid here, perhaps the vampire, and that something very bad had happened. Having found the item and clue that the riddle implied, they find a door that is not the one they entered, which must be the one that will lead them from the Attic to the next room on their mystery adventure.

Night two: Hotaru once again finds her way to Haruka, though Michiru has mysteriously disappeared. Rei, wandering the halls of the mansion, hears the noise in the Attic and finds the two girls, joining up with them rather than work on her own in this disturbing house. Together, they unravel the riddle, discovering the next room is the Nursery. So downstairs they go once more, through another door.

Once there, it is a very short time to search the sparse room, where Haruka finds a gold and ruby ring hidden underneath the bed. Engraved inside the ring's band is the word “Eternity”. Perhaps the ring belonged to the so often mentioned vampiress? But they know the riddle is not completely solved. Remembering the words, Rei strides forward and rips back the covers of the sheets. A grisly sight meets their eyes. The bed is soaked with old, old blood, and there are hairs disturbingly similar to the bound lock of hair they found in the Attic. Perhaps this means the little girl who lived in this room also died in it, and the lock of hair they carry is hers. Overwhelmed by the sight, Hotaru is left in a safe room to recover her wits, as Haruka and Rei move onward to the next room.

They enter into the Dining room, where they swiftly solve the now obvious puzzle. They have found the room where the vampiress was her last night, the chair where she sat with others. And the item they collect from this room is the plate she perhaps was unable to eat from. Shortly after, Rei disappears in search of something, while Michiru finds her way once again to her lover. Together, they realize the Ballroom beside the Dining room is the next room they must explore.

We'll definitely have another event like this in the future if all goes well. We've never done a live role-play event before, but CrystalSetsuna is making it all happen.

last nights roleplayers had a blast! Xillia and Naouranus have earned the first night bumpers! don't be scared to miss out on the fun, the second night of the event is today, and there's still plenty of time to join us at any point!

The live role-play event was a lot of fun. You get nearly instantaneous feedback on who did what, but it was pretty easy to follow. Thank you everyone for not typing so fast that it would have been impossible to keep up. The sound effects also added to the atmosphere.

It is so great to hear that the first night was a success!! I want to join so much, but the times are incredibly late for me. I am going to see if I can make it to the Sunday one though, that one's more manageable.
