| Announcement: August 28, 2013:The next GCRPG Event will be....
The Hunger Games! Returning to the Galaxy Cauldron's Role Playing Academy Gaming Center, The Hunger Games is an all-writing-experience-range rpg with three playable character types:
- The Tributes:
Tributes are children between the age of 11 and 17 that are chosen from districts across Panem to participate in a battle to the death called The Hunger Games. Each child (one boy and one girl from each of the twelve districts) is selected through a lottery drawing on a day called "the Reaping", where they are then taken from their homes after a brief goodbye and taken to the Capitol via a train to begin their pre-game Training.
They meet their Champion, who helps them strategize for the arena, participate in a parade to show off this year's tributes, and train in skills and abilities that might be useful in the Arena. They get little more than three days to prepare, and then they have one final interview with Caesar Flickerman before they leave civilization for the harsh reality of the Arena.
Once there, it's a battle to the death. Only one tribute will win the Hunger Games to become a Champion, and the Capitol will always have a victor.
---- RPers of Tributes are expected to be very active throughout the game; if you can't make at least three posts per day, you should expect to be killed off pretty soon due to negligence. There are 24 tributes in the Arena, bots and players alike, who would kill to find a sleeping/spaced out opponent.
Tributes can play their own champions, but cannot play a sponsor.
- The Champions:
Champions are previous winners of the Hunger Games, and their jobs are threefold: 1) help tributes train for the arena; help them form a strategy to win. 2) schmooze and win over sponsors to their tribute's cause. 3) use sponsor money to buy their tributes items they may need, and send them those items at the most opportune time. Send covert messages to help tributes win over sponsors to their cause.
----- RPers of Champions are expected to be active - at least two posts per day (even if it's just reacting to the carnage on screen). They cannot attempt to schmooze a sponsor outside the game board, but within, anything goes.
Champions can play their own Tributes, but cannot also play a sponsor.
- The Sponsors:
Sponsors are wealthy citizens of the capitol that are there to see a good game. They've got money, but whether they spend it to sponsor a tribute or not is their prerogative. They just want to have a good time, and a Happy Hunger Games!
---- Sponsor RPers are to be active - aim for at least one post per day. They do not by any means need to spend their money - especially on unworthy/boring tributes - but spending cash and making champions work for it is always fun, in a twisted sort of way.
People playing sponsors may not play any other role in this game due to a conflict of interests.
The game is involved and can be quite addictive and nerve-wracking, with danger around every corner for tributes and amusing surprises for Sponsors (Champions, your job is kinda high stress, lol). As with every RP Game here in the Gaming Center, it's run as a mix between a strategy game and a table-top style roleplay game (Yep, think Dungeons and Dragons with the dice rolling and Game Master. Mwahahaha), and after our first Hunger Games game, rules and procedures have been modified to streamline the experience for the better. This time around there are changes in the start-up of the game that I think everyone will enjoy! Sign-ups will be starting soon (think first weekend of September or so) and closing about four or five days later, depending on the interest shown! Please look forward to it! |
