| I can only think of one specific example, but I know that a number of times Naoko refers to Minako as Mina-P. Why does she do this? What does -P mean, and why does she only add it to Minako's name? I know it's been used in the manga at some points, but this is the only example I can remember clearly-- In the third artbook by Naoko, she writes this to describe her picture (screenshot is from MangaStyle.net's translation) [spoiler] |

| Usagi refers to Minako several times as Mina-P in the manga, after she stopped calling her V-babe or Mina-chan. I think -P is a friendly honorific.
For exemple, Takeuchi named Naru's jewelry shop "Osa-P" to make a little nod to her editor (Osano, or as she call him: Osabu). Mana from DokiDoki Precure calls her friend Makoto "Mako-P", etc. Guess it's a friendlier way for "-chan"...? |

| Another friendly way of saying -chan is -chi(or is it chii? I forget u.u)
Luna-p! ^.^
I love Puu, and when I say that out loud I get funny looks from people...
Edit: (As I existed the page, I just realized if Pluto's cute little nick name ended with a P... Puu-P... LMFAO! I can't stop giggling now. I'm weird I know...) |

| In the Vocaloid and Idolmaster fandoms, "P" stands for "Producer." In the Vocaloid fandom, if you create a song that becomes popular, fans might give you a name related to song with the suffix P. For example, when a person with the username "mothy" created a popular song "Akuno Meshitsukai," fans started calling him "Akuno-P."
I'm not sure if the "P for Producer" concept is older than Idolmaster (released around 2005). It's more likely "P" was a cute suffix already being used, and the creators of Idolmaster adopted it and gave it a new meaning.
However, assuming P stood for Producer back in 1992... I guess it would make sense that Osa-P has that suffix (after all, he helped produce the manga) and Mina-P might be a reference to Minako's dream to be an idol. As I said before, though, I don't know how old the "P=Producer" concept is. |

| Hm... I didn't even think about Osa-P. I guess -P could be a little idol shout out too.
P.S. Still laughing at Puu-P hahahhahahahah |
