So I finally saw the teaser for the Lea Miserables movie and I'm so freaking happy! I'm going to geek out a little bit here. I'm a HUGE musical theater dork, partially because it's my major. But Les Miserables holds a special place in my heart. It was the first musical I'd ever performed in and is part of the reason I am who I am today.
Hugh Jackman, the love of my life XD, is playing Jean Valjean, Anne Hathaway is playing Fantine, Russel Crowe is playing Javert, and so many awesome people are taking on roles in this movie!



Anyone else here as excited for this as me?

I've seen an old french version of this I think but I'm not sure if it was a movie or a tv series... I just remember being a kid, maybe 4 or 5 years old, and my aunt was a big fan of ''Les Misérables''. I also remember her having Victor Hugo's biography in her library at the time.

OOH! There are so many versions of Les Miserables that I can't even keep track. I believe that's one of the reasons that it continues to be popular.

Oh! I have seen this a few months ago! I love this Musical/movie/soundtrack/Everything that has to do with it! They got really good actors in this movie! I think its going to be a really big hit when it comes out. I know they made a movie of it already but there was no singing. THIS is going to be AMAZING!

@_@ Is that me or are american filmmaker often using french litterature as ressource these last months? A few days ago, I saw they were also making a movie out of Bel Ami from Maupassant.

It's not just you. It has to do with what's popular and what will most likely sell.

I'm excited for this movie too. It's directed by Tom Hooper, who directed The King's Speech (and won an Oscar), so I'm sure this movie will be excellent.

I've seen part of a movie version of Les Misérables before and I have seen the musical live! I love the musical so much!! I can't wait to see this movie version too!!

I'm a bit sad that Anne Hathaway cut off all of her beautiful hair for the role of Fantine though!!

Yes, finally I was waiting for this! LES MISÉRABLES IS THE BEST MUSICAL MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN! Just, I don't even know how many times I've seen it. And I cried everytime! The singing, scenery, the acting, the ACTORS! Everything is just amazing! And I loved the Barricade Boys, Enjolras! The music is just soo, I love it! Do you hear the people sing?

I thought the movie was quite good. I agree that every aspect of it was superb! The only thing that I felt was not good about the movie is that it is almost too perfect. I will say, walking out of the theater and back into the real world, I felt very disappointed in society, that there are no real Jean val Jeans or Mariuses. How did everyone else feel about the film? ^^

Hahah similarly something I don't like about is that it was so amazing and I can't get enough of it so I want to watch other versions of it and listen to other people sing it but like this movie ruined all other forms of Les Mis for me because the actors just aren't as fitting of their character and I just can't get into anything else :/

MikiMod: Miki has changed the title of this topic to clarify which movie you're talking about. There are ALOT of adaptions of Les Mis and this thread is more about the 2012 than Les Mis in general.
