The Galaxy Cauldron is proud to announce its eighth writing contest. The theme for this writing contest is "a story about Cecil." You are free to interpret the theme as you like. The rules are as follows:

Rules
1. Entries must be 1000 words or less.
2. Entries must be rated PG13 or lower.
3. Entries must be related to the theme.
4. Your entry must be a new entry created specifically for this challenge.
5. You may only submit one entry.
6. You may not show your entry to anyone else or post it elsewhere on the Galaxy Cauldron until after the contest is over and the winner is announced.
7. Sailor Moon themed entries are encouraged, but not required.

In Celebration of NaNoWriMo, this contest will have a second option for entries. Writers may also submit an excerpt of whatever he or she is working on for NaNoWriMo. The excerpt does not have to be Sailor Moon related, it does not have to specifically relate to this month's theme, but it still must have a rating of PG13 or lower.
If your excerpt must be over 1000 words please send me a PM and we will work something out.

Note: All entries must be PMed to Sailor Venus by November 30th. All questions may be directed to Sailor Venus.

And before anyone asks, I have no idea who Cecil is. I guess it is up to you to tell us through your writing entry.

Oh no, we have good themes. Here's what I did...
I took the voting results from the theme poll. I cut off any result that did not receive a vote. Then, for these contests, I decided to alternate between the highest voted theme and the lowest voted theme. This current theme did receive a vote, so I didn't eliminate it.

If we have another round of voting for themes, you'll miss out on a ton of great themes that we still have left from the first round of voting. I have almost ten themes left and about a third of theme received a lot of votes.

If you guys really want, I can replace this theme with a different theme. I sort of hoped that allowing you guys to submit your NaNoWriMo excerpts would be a nice treat, but I guess I can scrap that, too.

Well, if we're up for interpreting it for ourselves, it shouldn't be that bad xD We don't have to take the prompt so literally as to think "Oh, but I don't even know who Cecil is!" because we could possibly make up a Cecil, or maybe even have Cecil be a very important item or something. Since it is up to the author to come up and interpret what it is, you just have to be a little more creative with something like this xD

^^;; Or at least, that is my reasoning for this prompt as I plan out what to write! Hahah

Yeah, I was planning on interpreting this as Ceceil being an important character in Sailor Moon that we never learned the true name of. I don't know who that'd be, yet, but I've moved a step in the right direction. ^.^

This theme is fine when you think about it Verdandi's way, but it kinda just seems like it was a joke someone threw in and voted on just for kicks and giggles. I only suggested running another theme thing because we have soooo many more writers now (8 participants last time?! Wooo!) and I thought giving them a chance to come up with themes would be interesting.

^^ and I really like the NaNoWriMo thing! Are we going to make two separate votings then for October, or mesh both categories in together?

Something has just occurred to me. Nanowrimo entries are allowed and all of the entries have to be in by Oct. 30th, but Nanowrimo doesn't start until November 1st. I was thinking about this contest and then it struck me about the dates and everything.

Or am I just missing something vital? xD

Lol, Kakyuu probably saved the .psd for this graphic (like every good photoshopper does), but if not, it wouldn't be too hard to manipulate "8th" to "9th" or whatever.

I think you should keep the theme for this writing contest and keep the deadline, but maybe delay the NaNo stuff for a later contest?

Well the graphic is already being circulated around Tumblr and stuff, so it might be easiest to extend the deadline.

I might try writing something about Cecil and if I like my novel better I'll just submit part of that instead

Well the theme can't be all bad, because the randomness of inventing Cecil inspired me to make my very first ever writing contest entry.

It's okay. I personally don't like the theme either, which is why I add NaNoWriMo to the contest. With that option, you pretty much have free reign to write whatever you want. I'm not going to check to see if you're really sending it to NaNoWriMo.

I am currently undecided if I want to enter or not. I have some ideas scratched down but I don't know if they will amount to anything.
Perhaps I will enter the next one when I have more time to write something compelling

Well, you still have two weeks to write an entry. This writing contest is longer than most. All of the other writing contests, excluding the special event, had two weeks for entries to be submitted.
