Alright, I did this list a while ago when I saw a comparison video of Mew Mew Power and its japanese counterpart. I immediately thought "What the heck would have 4Kids done to Sailor Moon" so... Yeah, I started a thread.
How do you think those who are reputated as anime rapists would have handled this serie?

Here are my ideas:

-Original musics...? Naaah dude, here, have some techno pop theme that everybody will find catchy, despite it being in total contradiction to the spirit of the show.

-Keeping the original names would be a watse of time. Let's just take some random americanized names for no reasons! For exemple, Usagi Tsukino? Why would they bother keeping the pun about "rabbit of the moon"? They're too cool to find a name that have a littlereference to the moon in it (Serena; DiC) or to keep the fact her name means "Rabbit". (Bunny; in Most European dubs + Tokyopop manga). Let's
call her Victoria Rivière!

-Transformations sequences? Erasing body lines would be too easy. 4kids would just cut some parts of the sequences. Like this whole part in the Prism Power Sequence, from the close up on Usagi's eyes to the part where her leotard is appearing. Oh, and they would re-draw the finishing pose. 4Kids hates two things: Rice balls and finishing poses. Also, the same transformation sequence would be used for Crystal and Cosmic, just with the hand shot being replaced by the brooch.

-With the exception of the Crescent Mark, ALL the planetary symbols would be cut. Sounds like 4Kidswould do something like that.

-Oh, I'm sure 4kids wouldn't cut an entire episode. The script of Episode 2 will be modified so that everybody thinks that Miss Sakurada was offended because Umino ate a sandwich in front of her. Because the skirt flipping scene never happened. You know.

-The whole "Usagi is drunk" scene from Episode 22 would be completely cut. Everything that look like wine will be edited so it would look like orange juice.
-Of course, every kenjis will be erased... As well as every clearly written english words. Some would make sense (Shingo's name on his cap) some would not. (Words on Haruna's black board.)

-More americanizations! Mako's onigiri will be edited to looks like sandwichs, her headband (the one she hadwhen she cleaned Motoki's appartement) would be painted over. Usagi's 30% would be change to a F, etc.

-If you thought Negaverse was a cheesy name, wait until 4Kids find a name for the Dark Kingdom.
-Sailor V will be called "Venus" from the beginning (Shhh, not confusing some kids watching the serie. Two names is too much for the same character, even if they are similar.). Also, in the scene of episode 42 where a strange silhouette launch a grenade at Minako's feet, it will be changedto the mysterious person saying, with a generic villain voice "I'm bringing you to the shadow realm or some stuff", the grenade would be cut, the scene would jump to the scene of Katarina waiting outside, and the explosion. Then, the whole point of the episode (A barely alive Sailor V finding Katarina kissing Allan, while both belive she is dead.)
will be cut, because Minako was captured or some chibi, and we'll never know how she was freed.

-Odango Atama... Dumpling Head... Meatball
Head... Buns... Naah, they'll find something non-accurate for Mamoru's
nickname to Usagi. Or won't put in any nicknames at all.
-Let's see... Episode 45... Mako being impaled, Cut. Ami being chocked, Cut. Minako being burned, Cut. Rei's badassery. ("You're not done with me yet! FIRE SOUL!")... Cut. Damn those Japanese. Why killing characters when you can send them to parallel dimensions?

-Insert songs are nice. Especially where they don't belong.

-Tansformations phrases and incantations... I guess they would take something cheesy like "Moon Morphing, Power On". For the attacks, well, I don't know, I'dlooove to see somebody being killed by "Moon Power Crown".

-the symbols on Burning Mandala would be erased and the attack would have a generic name like "Fire Circles".

-The identity of Chibiusa's parents would be revealed like only a few episodes after her appearance in SMR.

-Saturn would be the senshi of shadows or some similar thing. Silence would be just "Everything is covered in shadows. The end." And Rei's nightmare would be either left out, either partially cut.

-Tuxedo Kamen will be called something like "The masked costume".


How do you think their magical digital paint bucket would have destroyed Sailor Moon?

Well I don't think the planet symbols would be gone seeing how all the symbols appear on their forehead. In Mew Mew Power they erased most of the symbols because they were in certain areas. (i.e above Lettuce's cleavage) As for Tuxedo Mask I feel like that name would be kept. They did keep the Blue Knight and Deep Blue in Mew Mew Power.

That true... Thought, I don't know... You could censor them for the lame excuse of "Mars's and Venus's are used to define genders" or something like that. Whoever write their scripts must be a monkey. (Just look at the whole YGO franchise.)

Well honestly I don't think most kids will know genders symbols. As for removing Minto's and Pudding's marks seeing how they removed everyone else I guess they had to make it fair removed theirs.

Even though the renamed Mew Aqua I still think they would keep Tuxedo Mask.

Haruka would be a guy who turns into a girl before the Starlights even show up.

Lol I dont think 4kids would have a guy turning into a girl thing.

Then I don't know what they'd do about Haruka.

Eheh, reminds me what the french dub did. They kept her gender ambiguous, she had a male voice actor and was sometimes referred to as "he".

Honestly I think 4kids would just get rid of Michiru and Haruka's relationship. They would make Haruka a tomboy.

I think the U.S. just doesn't know how to properly dub, if you want the truth. I didn't watch enough Adult Swim to see how like Inuyasha or FMA ran, but from what I have watched, anime-wise in general for dubs, they all suck. So...

I really honestly don't know why it's so hard either to stick to what you're given, just do an English translation (and a good one). Good voice actors, good translation, stick to the original and just go.

There are good dubs, Lady. Everyone has their own take on what makes a good dub. However today dubbing has gotten a lot better than the 90s. I will say this there are terrible voice actors around the world. Even in Japan.

Even DiC did a fairly good job in my opinion @_@

Well, I'm not current, so I'll take your guys' word the only thing I've seen recently is Pokemon Black and White XD

And yeah I know about the voice acting thing. I just wish they always picked good people XD

If 4Kids dubbed Sailor Moon...I imagine it would be a cross between the original dub promo (it's somewhere on the forum, but I'm too lazy to look for it atm. XD) and their usual fare.

~ Any and all images of weapons would be removed. So kiss the Space Sword, Silence Glaive, and stuff like that good-bye. Of course, they don't get replaced by anything, so it just looks like people are making weird hand movements.

~ No one dies. Even if the animation shows otherwise, they all just get banished to some realm of darkness.

~ Japan? What's that? They're from California.

~ As a sidenote to the above, the name Crystal Tokyo would have to go.

~ One character will get to keep their original name, but there's a 50% chance of the pronunciation being horribly mangled.

~ At least one character will have one of the following accents: New Jersey, British, or Southern. Said accent *will* be as overly-dramatic and cliche as they can make it.

~ It wasn't curry that Usagi was making. It was spaghetti and meatballs.
