| Hello lovely Sailor Moon appreciating people! My name is Lauren; you can call me Lauren, Lo, Reiko however you please. Reiko isn't legally my name but it's my unofficial Japanese name from my grandmother. It's awesome because it incorporates her name, Eiko. I'm 19. I live in the States--south east to be more specific. I speak English, moderate French, and know a few phrases in Japanese. When the opportunity arises, I will take a course in Japanese at my university. I'm a Sailor Moon fanatic but that probably goes without saying given that I have joined this forum! The show was probably one of the first programs I watched on television along with Barney, Bananas in Pajamas, and Power Rangers. Sailor Moon was probably my first encounter when it came to realizing the beautiful combination of music and film (my two loves). I remember seeing the music video for Rainy Day Man as a little girl but stopped watching Sailor Moon until I started high school. Somehow during that ten year gap I remembered the song and video (I would always sing the melody to myself when it rained) and one day I decided to act upon that and look up Sailor Moon. Boom, fandom rekindled. I mentioned I love music and film. I can play violin (9 years), guitar (8 years), and I started singing in high school. I'm not stellar at any of those but I do put my limited skills to good use by doing youtube covers every now and then. If you're interested, my user ID is AtTwelve34. I am also studying film at my university. I want to into screenwriting and directing--preferably working with television as it calls for better executed character development and backstories. Though, I'd also like to work on feature films and produce music videos. My biggest influences are Christopher Nolan and David Slade. And though his films have more shock factor than anything else, I love the visual style of Zack Snyder. I think that's about it for now. I tend to write a lot I hope that wasn't overwhelming. Cheers

I was required by my university to have about five years of experience in another language. I resisted at first but it is a fun skill to have! - Sailor Cosmos wrote:

Relax, take a look around, post in threads you like, or start a thread of your own whenever you feel like it! Please PM me if you need anything. Sailor Moon's music is just mindblowing. I love the power metal songs from the English Dub to the schmoltzy violin numbers to the elegant stripped-down melody of the star locket (I can play Carry On on guitar and the Outer Senshi transformation song on violin). But, even still, I really want to make an engineering friend at some point in my life and convince them to make me a custom music box like the locket!! To be honest, it's not hard at all I surprised with all the cosplaying vendors that no one has created any! Especially when the plastic toy sells for hundreds when listed on eBay.

Thank you for the compliment. Though, you can't really know if I'm talented or not so it's odd to read. I've been posting around the place. I like the set up of this forum. Everyone is very well-versed in Sailor Moon and the conversations are refreshingly intellectual. |

| I am really glad it's set up in way that makes sense It took me a long time to get it to where it made sense ^^ It was a jumbled mess inside my head for the longest time :p And I believe you are talented for several reasons, not for your skills, but because you were able to remember a song for so long, recall what it was from, you have played two totally separate instruments for almost a decade and recently added vocal to it. I personally think that is really talented. ^^ |

| Welcome to the forum Lauren. I just checked out your YouTube channel and you're such a Michiru ^-^ I love how you play the violin. I actually play the viola but haven't done that in a while. I still have yet to watch your guitar/singing covers though. I'll be subscribing to your channel here in a few minutes as well. It's great to see that we have talented members on this forum. ☿ |

| Yay for a fellow artist on the forum! ^^ I absolutely love the violin but never got around to learning it. I play the flute and piano myself. But I think that the violin must be one of the most beautiful instruments that there is. Simply exquisite. If I played, I am sure I would be a total dweeb and play the Outer Senshi theme all the time. XD Have you ever tried? And a film major! That must be quite exciting. I am studying art at my uni. Have you made any short films or music videos? I would love to see! Feel free to PM me if you need any help or have any questions. Or just want to chat! |

I actually found a really good website that gave you lessons and work sheets for free. I'd have to find it again, but if you want I'll let you know when I do? - Quote :

O-O OH MY GOODNESS, I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONEEEE. AHHH, SERIOUSLY? THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. How come that one song is so addictive? xD I'd also sing it in the rain, but I could never remember what it was from, much less any of the lyrics aside from "rainy day man, on your shoulder I cried when my first brush with love, left me shaking inside~". Lol. Omg creepy but amazingg. - Quote :

I know how to play the guitar a little bit, but only one song, hahaha. I took choir in HS, but I never really got into it. I sing from time to time, to help relieve stress and I find that it works. ^-^ That sounds AMAZING. I'd like to create back stories for television characters, it'd be so fun. What university do you go to? I've only heard of Full Sail, but that's because they send me giant envelopes. |

Aww, well thank you. I do have a pretty awesome music for music... but there's definitely a cycle to it. I don't care to remember insignificant music. Music not only has to be appealing, but have it's own presence. "Rainy Day Man" was given such a beautiful presentation with the music video, I had no choice but to remember it. - Sailor Mercury wrote:

☿ Thanks for the kind words. I'm liking this place already! LOL. I kind of am? I mean, I was born March 5th (Michiru was born on the 6th according to Princess Naoko) and I play violin. However, I am no where near as graceful. I consider myself much closer to anime Mars. Though, in the manga Michiru is still elegant but not gaudily elegant as she is in the anime. Thanks for checking out my work! The violin vids are the best. Who knows, maybe I'll throw up a vid of me playing the outer senshi song or singing/playing Moonlight Densetsu. - Sailor Jupiter wrote:

I can play the Outer Senshi theme but I'm super rusty on violin. You could say my skills were at their finest a few years back. I can still play it but it's not as gorgeous as it could be... I was just saying to Mercury I might have to dig out the ol' fiddle and start practicing again. I've done some cinematography work for a couple films and I'm also the publicist for my college's production company. It's fun to work with fellow film majors but it's also great for connections. For example, the screenwriting professor at my college produced almost the entire JAG series and co-produced the first season of Bones. I haven't worked with him yet but it's only a matter of time since I'm pursuing screenwriting. - Sailor Venus wrote:

I've only heard of Full Sail, but that's because they send me giant envelopes. Yep, I'm only 25% but insanely proud. Hana-ko, if I'm correct that translates to "flower child," hai? I'm good on the French. I know enough to get around plus my flatmate is a French minor. LOL, and here's a hilarious detail: I became friends with my French instructor (she's a grad student employed by my university) and she's a total Moon junkie. I agree. I might be biased, but violin is honestly the most beautiful and expressive instrument. String instruments are naturally more expressive due to their sustain but instruments of the orchestral family even more so because they are bowed. The possibilities are endless when it comes to articulations which makes for so many different methods and styles. I don't attend a film college. I'm at UNC Chapel Hill (go Tar Heels) but they have legit connections (as I mentioned earlier in this post) and a well-developed film program. |

I'd be insanely proud, too! xD I only remember one thing from when I was learning it, something about saying "the blue house", but due to grammar issues it'd be "the house of blue" or something like that. XD;; I loved learning it, though. It's such a nice language. WHY CAN'T MY TEACHERS BE THAT COOL? D; |

D; Well, here's the funny thing about French: English is my first language but I grew up listening to my mom speak Japanese here and there. I also went to Japan a few times as a kid so I can understand their speech mannerisms. That was almost obliterated from my mind after learning French. It's ironic because French is constructed to be very fluid while the Japanese pronounce every single syllable! Now I'm trying to learn some Japanese but the French speaker in me wants to just gloss over syllables here and there! |

LOL omg that must get so frustrating. Sometimes I pronounce words with a french accent, like, "aunt" and "anne". I've no idea why either. My sister does it too, lol. |

I had to stop playing flute during college and now I am so rusty. >_< I don't know about you, but I find it so frustrating to hear myself when I remember how I used to sound. lol. I guess I should just jump right in, but I annoy myself when I play! |

See, the crazy thing is I know exactly where you're coming from. I still played every now and then during my first year in college (meaning once every three months...) which is a huge step down from playing two hours a day like I did in high school. Its frustrating to to know sloppy I've gotten. I still have the ability to play but a lot of my skill has been lost. I used to manage the strings department in a music store and I'd meet people all the time who claimed to have played when they were younger. The terrible thing is most of them could barely hold the instrument any more. I won't let that happen to me. You shouldn't either On a related note, I was practicing the Outer Senshi theme for you guys today. It sounds... okay but I'm not as close to Vanessa Mae as I could be. |
