I bought my saturn plushie off ebay, and i am currently waiting for my eternal sailor moon plushie from amazon. I also recently won a 6" never opened Sailor Moon doll off ebay for 5 dollars (2.99) S&h.

I get some things off Yahoo Auctions , Mandarake, Ebay, Serasell, and I have brought things off other forums. I just brought some of the new Ge merchandise from here http://www.animeharu.com/

When I bought it, there was no product picture on the Amazon page so I took a leap of faith because it was so cheap. I nearly had an aneurism when I unwrapped it in the mail!!

It's most definitely not a bootleg. However, it's the Chinese release. Honestly, I don't think that matters whatsoever seeing as it's 97% pictures.

Yeah, that totally makes sense. I seriously would love an English release too, but I'd be happy to own any countries release, as long as its not bootleg and the quality is good!

^ I would ADORE an English release!! Who knows, maybe with the revival going on, it could happen!

I love those bootleg plushies! I have quite a few of them and I think they are quite good for bootlegs! My favourite one sits on top of my bookcase :p

This picture was taken this summer before the new manga and merchandise came out :3 I started collecting items as far back as 98' but the collection really picked up in 2002. That when I started having a lot of fun just collecting and not opening things.

One thing i find fun about collecting is that i can tell you where each item came from. Like the Scout dolls. My best friend's sister at the time was about the toss them out and my best friend was all like "NOOOO LIZ WOULD LOVE THESE" so then my friend snuck these over to my house.




This was around my birthday in September.

Also i had the best birthday cake this year...one of my best friends made it for me.





This wall scroll was a Christmas present from my other best friend Chris! Sadly it has to stay in my apartment where i go to college so it can't see the whole collection....One day...one day..



These were all the things my parents got me for Christmas this year . I absoultly loooooove that shirt!



One day during Christmas break my lil sister and i went into hottopic. She bought this for me.


And finally! I got these two this week! I started back school and i thought i would just add these to my shopping cart on amazon while checkin out books.

What do the bootleg plushies look like? I've seen some floating around but maybe those were the bootlegs?

They look a bit alike. There are some of Luna too in different shades.

That Eternal one up there is a bootleg as well.
They are hard to know they are bootlegs because they have nice labels attached. But they are fake. The Luna and Artemis hats/purses on Amazon aren't plushies, but they look like these bootlegs and are also bootleg items.

The plushie bootlegs also may have bad sewing or have something 'off' with the uniform. Like on of those plushes, Moon has wristbands instead of gloves and also what looks like the star locket as her brooch! And i'm sad to hear that all these plushies are bootlegs, they did so well at looking like real Sailor Moon merchandise i didn't even think twice. I still want one even though they are bootleg.

I'm curious though, since it's hard to tell, how can one tell on the internet what is bootleg and what is not?

I got a ton of new stuff including those Japanese original versions of the SM manga in BookOff (bought all the volumes they had, total of 5 at $3 each!!!). I also got a wall scroll and i have a SM doll coming in the mail soon. I bought a SM necklace today and the magnets.

I am planning on starting my "collection" topic here when i get my laptop back from my boyfriend.

The colours usually look weird, no official company logo, play the wrong tune, look 'cheap' with how they are made, markings are totally off, quality, size, faces, shape...there's a lot of factors. If you want to be amused, check out this thread on bootlegs on another SM forum

With bootleg dvd's, the quality is usually pretty bad, a LOT of episodes on one disk, no official company logo, artwork looks dodgy, price is cheap, sound is awful, manga art on the dvd's subtitles from other countries that won't or will work, sets that claim to have 'everything' including movies and musicals etc into a few disks..etc. You can tell as soon as you buy them usually. Sometimes the front cover art will look VERY real, but turn it over and you will know straight away. Also check out the side of the disks for anything weird, like letters spaced out weirdly etc. After a while you can learn more about bootlegs. It is also wise to buy moonie merchandise WITH the box, then you can really be sure as without it you won't know till you get it and then it is too late.

To be honest, I really don't care if something is bootlegged or not. I have the Eternal Sailor Moon plushie along with a Sailor Moon plushie, and they're both Hong Kong bootlegs. I don't care because they're adorable and well-made.

Well i care if it's bootleg because i like to support the show. And also if i spend a lot of money on an item i want my money to go to a legit Sailor Moon. But yeah those plushies are adorable!

For things like plushies, if I'm going to get "bootleg" I think i'd rather support a plushie maker on Deviantart or something. Support an artist, ya know? Rather than some company making cheap items in China...however when it comes to toys like Gashapons...i kinda don't mind, especially since they are usually so cheap. ^^; When you are paying $10 for like five gashapon figures, I'm not really going to complain if they are bootleg or not.


Now if i paid a butt load of money for something, only for it to be bootleg, I'd be pretty upset. :[
