Appearance:

Makoto's height often makes her stand out. Towering at least half a head over most other girls, being well-muscled (she's stronger than the majority of men she comes in contact with), and having long brown hair that tends to curl in a way not normally seen in Japanese teenagers, set her apart from her peers from an early age as, despite her personality, she consistently had the look of a masculine delinquent about her. While she might have struggled with the dichotomy between her appearance and personality when she was younger, after learning to embrace both and show more frequently her feminine side and style, Makoto Kino cuts a truly impressive figure. Throughout the years, she has worn her long hair in a high ponytail to keep it out of her way throughout the day. The style is held in place by an elastic with twin green balls that nearly match the color of her bright expressive eyes, the plastic bauble'd tool given to her by her parents ages ago. The style does a pretty good job of restraining her naturally wavy hair, but as it usually reaches well past her shoulder blades, even when caught up, she'll sometimes have to toss it over one shoulder when working on highly-detailed projects like when cake decorating. Her hair style, the elastic, and one other thing - her scented rose stud earrings - are aspects of her appearance that never change, even when transformed as a senshi and even when garbed in her royal princess gown.

Makoto's style choices are often on either side of a coin. Sometimes she takes great joy in wearing completely feminine flower-print flowing dresses, long skirts with elegant blouses, dainty shoes and ribbon-esque accessories, and other times she's just as comfortable in jeans, a tee-shirt, basketball shoes and an athletic jacket. Most of the time she goes for practicality, though... high-waisted pants to show off her impressively long legs never hurt anyone.

Personality:
Generally: 
Makoto is a strong and independent person - that much is clear on a first impression. What may take more than a passing glance to find out is that she's also very giving. She's patient and kind, but she doesn't suffer fools or bullies. She's energetic and curious, always willing to try something new at least three times before making a decision about it, but stubborn and sticks to her impressions after that point. If she likes you, she adores you, and if she doesn't, she won't give you the benefit of the doubt, let alone a chance to change her mind (unless a certain someone asks her to reconsider). Makoto's an extrovert, optimistic and enthusiastic, and enjoys making changes to shake things up and make life more enjoyable, whether it be in trying out a new recipe or remodeling her apartment with her own two hands and a sledgehammer. She enjoys creating - decorating, cooking, baking - and organizing - cleaning, tidying up, straightening - doing both to straighten and freshen up her own mind and way of thinking in the process, and she likes caring for things, whether her houseplants or her friends. If she's feeling down, the first thing she does to pick herself back up is to clean something, cook something, and give it to someone else to make them smile. She can take care of herself - she's determined to - and she will do anything to make sure the people she loves are taken care of, too. 

She's accepting of other ways of thinking and of other beliefs, so long as no one gets hurt in the process. She loves to laugh and can see the bright side in practically anything; she has a guilty pleasure in puns - she loves them. Unabashedly. Especially the really, really lame ones. 

Makoto's been hurt in the past by romantic relationships, but that doesn't stop her from dreaming of the perfect romance, even at nearly one thousand years old! She's worked hard to make all of her other dreams come true, and she's waiting patiently to see if that one last thing will ever really click.

Mannerisms: Makoto is cheerful and a natural-born peace keeper, but isn't as rigid in "proper" manners as others within her circle of friends. She's always polite and helpful, but knowing exactly which fork is for -- okay, bad example, she knows food, and place settings is part of that. So, while she may not exactly know what to do in a tea ceremon-- nope, she knows that, too, because the tea ceremony is elegant and Makoto adores elegant things - though she thinks she's personally too clumsy to really pull them off well, even at her age. Hmm -- Okay! So she may not know exactly which foot to start out on or exactly who is supposed to ask whom for a -- wait, she adores dancing -- well! Fine, okay, she's pretty good with manners for anything remotely close to her interests, and she strives to learn things so as not to disrespect anyone. She's adorable and practically perfect, even if she denies that until the end of time. That is Makoto.

Her strong point is cooking, her favorite hobby is bargain-hunting. She likes romance novels, dislikes cheaters, and has trouble with airplanes. Her favorite cologne is potpourri.


Storyline Specific Information:

• Metamorphosis - In the battle against the Black Moon Clan, Neo Queen Serenity has been killed. There was no crystal encasing to save her from the attack, and she took the full brunt of it before any of her guardians could protect her. Now, the sailor soldiers must deal with the repercussions of no longer having her light in their life. How will this affect their friendships and their daily lives? How can they keep up the fight with guilt pulling at them with every turn? And the threat of the Black Moon Clan is growing stronger everyday. Without Neo Queen Serenity to help in the fight, and most of Crystal Tokyo either destroyed or occupied, how will the remaining sailor soldiers keep them from taking over completely?

Jupiter tried her best not to pay attention to Cerecere's ridiculous but well-intended narration as she finished up the final touches on the cake, tucking the last edible flower into place before sliding her creation easily across the counter and picking it up, balancing the cake stand in a familiar way as she put every ounce of control towards not blushing, though her eyebrows twitched in the process. When she volunteered to help the Quartet with their video projects she never imagined she'd end up as the subject of any of them - especially not Ceres's, and especially not if this was what Ceres had had in mind from the get-go. If she had wanted to do something on someone actually elegant, she could have easily tried for Neptune or Mars, and yet there she was, following her around as she prepared her special cake for high tea. She strode across the kitchen easily, standing tall -

"Talented, gorgeous -"

- and tripped, stepping down incorrectly so her tall white heel slid sideways. She grabbed the counter to recover, the cake barely wobbling on it's stand, and turned a painfully embarrassed expression back on the pink-haired senshi-in-training. "Really, Ceres?" she chided.
