| Hello all,
Sorry for my english.... i wonder why there are lots of differences betwin original names and english names, or french names. The first time i watched 90 anime, i am lost because just before i watched PGSM... so... why we change names all the time ????
Which names do you prefer ? I put a little page with Jap/enghish/french names. There is attack, and place too. here
For me i prefer VO so i watched all in VOST^^ if not i mix all of that.... |

| So interesting that they would localize Usagi's last name to Rivière! Are rivers connected to the moon somehow in French lore? (A river in moonlight is romantic, I guess?? Lol I'm really reaching here...)
(Also, there's an old relevant thread here for interest's sake: https://www.thegalaxycauldronforums.com/t4195-mayo-rewatches-the-french-s-anime) |

| Not all of the English character names on that page are accurate. Corinn, Nerissa, and Celia only appeared on product boxes for dolls; not used for the dubbed show or comics. They kept their Japanese surnames and were in the English dub as Amara Tenou, Michelle Kaiou, Hotaru Tomoe, and Trista Meiou. Also, in the attacks section, "Sparkling Wide Pressure" was usually still "Sparkling Wide Pressure". Same for "Shine Aqua Illusion"—it usually kept its name. Under locations, Mugen Gakuen was "Infinity Academy". I hope that helps~ (I prefer the Japanese names.) |

| As for me, it depends on which is easier to pronounce and if the non-native title/name is a direct translation. However, any name changes of characters are a bit harder to swallow. This was an interesting site to find! |

Thank you for the link Diagnosed ! It's just like that. I laughed lots of when i read this !!
In all animes i know we change names.... it's very strange i think. It's not complicated to pronounce Usagi or Amy !! I don't understand... |
