Viz just announced at their Comic-Con panel that Chris Niosi will be the voice of Pegasus and therefore, presumably, of Helios.



I...I am honestly feeling kinda torn about this. I think I got burned really badly by the horrible casting choice Cloverway made (no offense to Robert Bockstael, who I'm sure is a great actor, but his voice simply was way too old sounding for a character who looks like a preteen boy), and I'm having a really hard time accepting anyone other than Taiki Matsuno, the original Japanese VA, as the voice of Pegasus/Helios in my head. I really want to give Chris the benefit of the doubt, especially since he's been involved with previous anime dubs. I've also checked out his Youtube channel, just to get a sense of what his voice sounds like, but I think I'm going to hold onto my reservations until I hear the dubbed clips some months from now. :\

Not to give false hopes but dubbing has improved a lot since the 90s. I'm learning that, myself as I'm looking at a different anime dubbed in the 21st century, compared to 90s dubbing quality. Imagine my surprise when I found out Luna's human form wasn't an old lady in the movie, lol.

I do think that as of 2017 English language license holders are now more aware of what their consumers want, and in some cases, expect from them, thanks to the advent of the internet and social media. I was just so hugely disappointed with the first SuperS English dub for Pegasus/Helios that it's gonna take a lot for me to warm up to a new VA. And with the prospect of a new Dream arc for SMC, chances are Chris Niosi will also voice Helios in the SMC Dream arc dub, whenever that comes to fruition. Given all that, I really hope I end up liking his performance, because if I want to listen to my favorite arc in English that's something I'm gonna have to come to terms with. XD;;

I've never heard of this guy. Checked out his IMDB. He voiced a few parts in Hellsing Abridged and Yu-gi-oh Abridged. Huh. (oh look he's played Ox King a few times in DBZ Abridged specials.) Most of what he's done so far seems kinda like fanmade stuff, guess this might be his big "break" into the bigger voice acting gigs.

He is pretty good i think. he was in a series of youtube videos called "Brawl Taunts" I would post on here but they can get a little more then pg-13 sometimes.

While looking through Twitter, I think one of my friends in LA might actually know Chris Niosi! 0_0 Dang, what a small world...

True. I haven't seen the Viz english dub in its entirety, and any english dub sounds kind of weird to me given that I'm so used to the original Japanese actors, but that said, I think it's a lot better than the 90s dub and the only voice that I was completely like "omg what were they thinking" was Shingo, who sounded way too old. I would think, or at least hope, they wouldn't make that same mistake with a more prevalent character like Helios/Pegasus. Idk, I think this guy can probably do a good job, but like you guys said, we'll only know for sure when the clips are released. I'm worried about Tiger's Eye, if they'll go for a generic male voice like the 90s dub did or if they'll find someone who can properly mimic the weird... idk, like, almost kind of Tim Gunn-esque inflection the Japanese one always seems to have lol. XD I'd be really irked if he doesn't retain that quirk haha.

He's actually really good! I've seen him in a lot of shows and games (Namely a guy named Khoury in the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl anime and Dezel in the game Tales of Zestiria), and he's not only a great up-and-coming actor, but his podcasts and v-logs are very interesting and informative. I'm really happy he's getting to voice Pegasus. Honestly, I don't mean any disrespect to Pegasus's original actor, but I wasn't sold on Taiki Matsuno's performance. I kept hearing his Agumon voice from Digimon Data Squad in my head every time he spoke. I'm confident Niosi will do Pegasus/Helios justice.

Okay, so the trailer for SuperS and various comparison clips have come out, and...I totally called it. Niosi absolutely nailed it. For sure.

I saw the trailer for the new SuperS dub and I mentally cried out in joy! Chris' voice is a great match for Helios, and really reminds me of Taiki Matsuno's voice. I knew I was probably going to buy the new SuperS dub DVDs; this new dub just sealed the deal for me.

I agree with Mangaka This actually looks pretty good based on the previews. so far I am really liking the SuperS dub!
