– Japanese Spelling: Tsukino 月野, meaning “moon field”, but also a pun for “of the moon”. Usagi うさぎ, from the kanji 兎, meaning “hare; rabbit”. As Takeuchi intended, it means “rabbit of the moon”.

Appearance:

Usagi has long, blonde hair, which she pulls up into two buns on the top of her head. Her eyes are blue, filled with kindness and energy. Her face is a little round, betraying her of her not-so-secret love of food. Her figure is slender, but not lean. Her stomach is soft with a small bit of pudge and her muscles lack any real definition. She is quite short, standing only at 150 cm (4 feet, 11 inches).

Typically, she is dressed in her school uniform: a seifuku with a blue collar, red bow, and a blue, knee-length, pleated skirt. Over the knot of her red bow, she typically wears her brooch, which holds the Silver Crystal and enables her to transform into Sailor Moon.

When she is not dressed in her school uniform, she typically can be found wearing something with pink or blue. She has no particular set fashion and she'll wear anything from cute tank tops with shorts to comfy sweaters with long skirts. She always manages to look put-together.

Personality:
Usagi is typically known for being lazy—and a crybaby. She is not the studious sort and often does poorly on her tests in school. However, that's not too say she is stupid; she simply doesn't apply herself. She is a sensitive and emotive girl. She can be easily hurt by unkind words, especially if they're from people she cares about. But she's also a bit of a spitfire as she doesn't take criticism very well.

Although she sometimes feels insecure about herself, she never feels insecure about making friends. She has a tendency to disregard rumours about others and makes her own decisions about people based on her interactions with them. She loves deeply and cares greatly for her friends and family, willing to sacrifice herself to protect them.

Usagi has always accepted her role as Sailor Moon with grace. She has never argued with her destiny of being the Soldier of Love and Justice. There have been times, especially in the beginning, that she's wanted to give up, but her friends have always given her the courage to carry on, even in their deaths.

Despite her gentle heart, Usagi is a tenacious fighter. As she grows as a person and evolves as Sailor Moon, she becomes startlingly powerful and determined, though she remains as kindhearted as ever. She values life immensely and doesn't believe in sacrificing others for “the greater good”. She always believes that there is a better way, but should a friend sacrifice him- or herself for Usagi, she does not allow their death to be in vain. She shares in her mother's dream of giving others second chances and restoring those closest to her.

Her dream is to become a bride and she is afraid of losing those she loves most. She also isn't very fond of thunderstorms. Her favorite gemstones are moonstones and rhinestones.

History:
Usagi Tsukino has a pretty mediocre life until she was fourteen. It wasn't until she encountered a strange black cat, named Luna, that everything changed. Usagi became Sailor Moon, the Soldier of Love and Justice.

She also later found that she was the reincarnation of Princess Serenity, the Princess of the Moon Kingdom. She learned that her previous life was one of star-crossed love and tragedy. She had fallen in love with the Prince of Earth, but an uprising on Earth ended the young lovers’ lives, asking with so many others. Moved by the devastation, Queen Serenity wanted her daughter and friends to have a life where they might live and love without fear. Thus, using the last of her powers, she enabled them to be reborn during a time that they might find happiness.

After her rebirth, the former Princess Serenity was able to reunite with her friends, the Sailor Senshi, and her Earth Prince, who was reborn as Mamoru Chiba.

With the help of her friends and her beloved prince, Usagi has been able to defeat countless enemies, corrupted by Chaos: Queen Beryl and the Dark Kingdom, the Black Moon Kingdom, Queen Nehellenia and her Dead Moon Circus, and Sailor Galaxia and her league of Sailor Animamates.

She has grown in love as well as power and will one day become the future Queen of Crystal Tokyo, Neo-Queen Serenity.

Usagi screeched as she looked at the clock on her nightstand. “Luna, why didn't you wake me?!” she cried, flinging the blankets off of her.

The blankets flew over the cat, who had been sitting at the foot of the teenager’s bed. The cat let it an indignant yelp before wiggling her way out. “I tried, Usagi, but you wouldn't wake up,” she answered simply.

Usagi made a frustrated sound as she finished pulling her uniform over her head. “Honestly, what's the good in having an alarm clock and a cat if neither will do their job to wake you!” she muttered, rushing out of her bedroom and heading down the stairs. She was sure Luna had made some comment, but she was thankfully out of range to hear the cat's reply.

“Usagi, you're going to be late!” the blonde heard her mother chime from behind her. “You better hurry!” Her tone sounded less cheerful and more threatening.

Great. Luna and Mom are on my case this morning, Usagi thought as she shoved a piece of toast in her mouth. “I know, Mom!” Usagi mumbled through her stuffed mouth as she grabbed another piece of toast.

She rushed to the door, grabbed her school bag, slipped on her loafers, and just as she rushed out the door, she called out a quick “bye” behind her.

Appearance: Can you talk about Usagi's preferred clothing style and colors when not wearing her school uniform? Your Princess Serenity images are broken, by the way!

Personality: I'm going to need a few paragraphs on this. You can talk about Usagi's fears (big and small), her dream, her hobbies, how she feels about being a senshi and how she has changed and grown over the course of the series, etc. Also something about her idealism, about how she's never willing to sacrifice anyone for the greater good, which is an important part of the conflict in the Infinity arc.

History: Can you talk briefly about what happened in the Silver Millennium and how this led to her being reincarnated on present day earth and eventually becoming a senshi?

An unknown Darkness has come and has been slowly consuming worlds across the universe. Along with the impending Darkness come the Heartless, shadowy creatures from an unknown dimension that do the Darkness's bidding. Their goal is to find the Ten Pure of Heart and use their hearts to open the Final Door to Kingdom Hearts, which will enable Darkness to take over all the universe.

Four of the Ten have already been captured: Princess Setsuna of the Caverns of Charon; Princess Michiru of Triton's Bay; Princess Haruka of Miranda, the Winged Isle; and Princess Hotaru of the Sleeping Wastes.

As for the remaining Six Pure of Heart, they've been having strange dreams. A voice has been calling them in their dreams, telling them to choose. In a hallowed room, before each dreamer are a Shield, Sword, and Rod. They are left to choose which they will be: a warrior, guardian, or mystic.

“As the weapon of the warrior, the Dream Sword focuses on strength and avoids defense, and if [the Wielder] chooses it, they will learn their offensive abilities at lower levels.”

The day after their dreams, large dark clouds come over their homeworlds and a terrible storm strikes during the night. The Six awake and find their homes flooded with Heartless. Weaponless, they have no choice but to flee. They each find a portal and the voice they had heard in their dreams urges them to go through.

We join our heroes as they awaken in a foreign world called Traverse Town.

Usagi hails from the world known as Silver Millennium. It is a small world of alabaster and crystal. Outside of the beautiful kingdom, known as the Moon Kingdom, there is little to see. Usagi is the Princess of this world and resides in the Moon Castle with her mother.

Despite holding the adoration of her mother as well as their subjects, Usagi has always felt rather alone, as she has never had the opportunity to make any friends. She dreams of the day when she will have true friends rather than just admirers.
