Character Name: Roy "R"
Gender: Male
Age and Date of Birth: 45 years old (His soul is older than that considering he has his memories from his past life, but his body is 45).
Used Canons: General Sailor Moon Knowledge
Appearance: Roy is considered by people or somewhat good looking, or ugly. He's mostly average but if he can't exactly be right away pinned as without beauty, he's rather plain. He's not what would immediately catch the eyes, but he has a genuine smile (when he smiles) and a lot of energy to make up for it. He's not particularly bothered with his physical appearance, often acting as if everyone and every species would fall in love with him easily.
He has brown eyes and his equally brown hair is short and curly. He can generally be seen with a vine crown on his head that he rarely takes off, mainly because most of the time, it's actually stuck in his curls. He has a square jaw, a bit of a stubble and small wrinkles at the corner of his eyes that are more the result of laughter than age. His nose seems like he's been broken more often than not.
Roy is muscular, strongly built for boxing and stands at 6' which wasn't exactly the epitome of height among his people - though he came to find out it was quite tall on Earth. If he has some muscles, he isn't overly heavy from it, caring for a shape that allows him strength and speed, which comes in handy in a bar fight. His body is usually hidden under large green hoodies that he wears above a black t-shirt and with normal jeans pants. He slouches more than he leans, his posture rarely correct and his spine rarely straight.
Personality: Roy is not particularly appreciated for his politeness or gentleness. He is extremely blunt, brutally honest and overall exuberant (and loud). He speaks with his whole body, gesticulating a lot and risking often to hit someone when he's in the middle of a fiery speech (speeches he likes long and intricate, sometimes with meaning only he understands). He is educated (even if it might show from time to time that his education is mostly self-taught apart from the knowledge he had in his previous life) and doesn't stop himself from using his passion for literature and art to complement a conversation. He is creative and boasts about many things (some fake) to pretend he has any confidence.
This energy he seems to have and the same he uses to invade everyone else's personal space never quite reaches his eyes that never seem to decide whether to be happy or sad. It doesn't make his emotions less genuine. If he's not really reliable for anything, even the smallest of missions (he can get distracted easily by pretty much anything), he knows how to party and how to keep the flame burning. He knows when people feel down, whether it is from anger, boredom or sadness and sometimes, he will use his energy to try and cheer up others. He's not exactly good at touchy-feely conversations, but if there's a possibility for laughter, he will find it.
He is a cynic and a sceptic. He doesn't believe in anything, in a higher spirit, a mission, a cause or anything that would usually drive people to live. He doesn't believe in human concepts, governments, religions or organizations. He has also little respect for others' beliefs, finding them to be naive and idealist, his attitude near nihilistic. However, he will seek and nurture friendship, which is a contradiction in itself since there is belief needed for this sort of relationship. Roy can, also, rarely, believe in people. If he meets someone incredible (by his standards) that stirs something in him, he will follow this person to the end of the world and back. A bit like the moth to the flame, the believer attracts the sceptic. But even if he finds such a special someone, he will still ridiculize their beliefs as he does with everyone. It's just that he might find himself believing in that person more than he would any cause.
He has little to no care for his own life and often gets into trouble just because he can. He is slightly claustrophobic and has an intense fear of being buried alive.
Goals/Dreams: None. Except maybe resting in peace, but otherwise, he's mainly wandering aimlessly.
Weaknesses/Fears: He fears being buried alive, and also anything where he would just die/resurrect over and over again. But being buried alive is the worst of them in his head. Mostly because Earth and Nature are supposed to obey him. He's not very good at keeping his mouth shut, which generally backfires against him, he doesn't believe in anything and often he doesn't live up to others' expectations.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:Enhanced: He is quicker, smarter and stronger when drunk.
Liquid manipulation: He can change water in wine.
Earth/Nature control: He has control over the element of earth and nature. He can make plants grow quicker and bend to his will. He can also crack the ground and produce earthquakes.
His control over those powers is weaker and erratic when drunk. He can totally hurt himself if he's not sober. He can also die from it if he's not careful.General Skills: He's good in french boxing, dancing, fencing and fighting with a staff. He can paint and draw. He kinda play instruments well, but the tunes are generally too chaotic and might actually scare people.
Immortality: R can die. Painfully so. But he always comes back from the dead. He was able to die for good once, when he accepted to lay down his life to go with his princess when she faced her end, but since he doesn't have anyone to whom give the same sentiment in this new life, resting in peace once and for all is impossible (for now). The time between his deaths and his resurrections depends on the manner he was killed. The more violent it was, the longer it takes, from hours to weeks.
History:- Previous Incarnation:
Roy was born in this previous life with a destiny already decided and a name history forgot. R was a nickname he used, however, and thus it shall be used in the telling of his first life.
Planet Apollon was fated to be governed by a princess whose name was also forgotten by history but was called Apollon most of the time since she was the princess and guardian of the planet. To her was destined (when she would be born) nine sailor guardians: Poseidon, Eros, Thanatos, Asclepius, Ares, Hephaestus, Oneiroi, Hermes and Dionysus.
Dionysus was the first to be born and instead of being a girl who would become a legendary sailor soldier, he was a boy who, unknowingly, would have powers similar to a sailor. But as he was destined to be given to the unborn princess anyway, he was schooled with that in mind. However, the simple fact of destiny and lack of freedom kick the spirits out of R and it quickly became one of the reasons that made him such a cynic. Being a knight had its perks however and as long as the princess wasn't born, he had refused and resented the burden put on his shoulders.
Soon, going out to drink and party was all he did of his life beside school and training and though his parents weren't the most present, his attitude angered his father. Both of them never really tried to bond and R never tried to make them proud. In fact, he tried his best to do the exact opposite. He was a turbulent teenager and an even worse adult, but no matter how nobody thought he could be of use for the future princess, fate couldn't be fought and given to her he would be when the time came.
The other guardians were born when he reached his majority (16 years old) but the princess only appeared ten years later. The guardians were formally introduced to a baby and Dyonisus escorted outside when he started to mock how illogical it was to have that as a master. But like the others, he protected her as the royal family fell victim of enemies plans and attacks. The princess grew, R's cynism and scepticism towards life increased, but his views met a wall when Apollon reached majority.
Nevermind the abnormally powerful sun that she had became, she was different. What he expected her to be (alright, she was a cold, focused, studious, smart girl who clearly hated him, but that wasn't the point) she wasn't exactly only it. She believed. A strong burning belief into whatever she fought for and that mindset of a pure believer called to him as an eternal cynic who believed in nothing else than wine. Her opinions were high, she fought for the causes she chose with all of her might, sacrificed for the weakest, never backed down from a fight and sincerely brought down more corrupted organization than her parents ever did. If the King and Queen were useless pretenders, the light they created burnt everything around her and Dionysus was more than glad to play Icarus' part.
As his heart never beat with as much conviction as her, he followed her. Drunk most of the time and nothing she could want by her side, but he tried and he protected her as he was supposed to, even if he would end up asleep or dead most of the time. Playing bodyguard was about as much as he did, not believing in any of her causes, even if he did believe in her.
After a centuries lasting peace, the corrupted forces left unchecked (mostly by Dionysus, but traitors in their ranks (outside the guardians' circle) didn't help either) rebelled, then a civil war broke, and everything Apollon ever fought for crumbled. They were outnumbered and the other sailor guardians died one by one. Dionysus woke up just as his princess stood proudly facing death and he joined to stand at her side instead of running away. She held his hand and she smiled, Dionysus deciding that if they were to die here, this death would be his last.
Centuries later, on a planet far from his own, he was reincarnated in Paris, Earth. He was placed in an orphanage quite early on, but never quite missed the parents he never knew. He discovered why exactly when teenager he finally understood that the weird thoughts, dreams and memories weren't only the craziness of a lonely child but rather the whole package of a being who lived many centuries in a past life. Understanding he had been reincarnated didn't help him understand why now, and why here.
In Paris, he didn't have access to many schools, but he tried to teach himself here and there, listening a lot and trying to absorb as much information as possible. He was always an avid reader as well.
He moved to Crystal Tokyo as soon as he could, but never quite found any interest in fighting for the good and the pures. He did meet there a man he befriended. When that old man passed away, he gave his house (where Roy comes back to when he lands back to Earth) and spaceship to Roy who started visiting the galaxies right and left, hitting the different bars he found, listening to those around him. Despite his lack of education back on Earth, he quickly learned more than one language and different useful things that weren't taught in schools anyway (and he learned that remembering one's past life could be useful).
He discovered rapidly that he had kept the immortality he was once blessed with, but in this life, it became a curse. Even though he fought a lot, dying never meant dying forever. He would, after hours or days, resurrect again and life would just go on as if it didn't care about the pain simply living brought to him.
He didn't know exactly where was planet Apollon from this galaxy, nor if the planet still existed. He couldn't remember his own civilian name, or the name of his princess apart from her warrior identity, Sailor Apollon. He didn't remember the civilian names of their friends either, and though he kept travelling just in case he would meet them again, he never quite had any hopes it would happen.
Now, with a number of bars he is banned from on many planets, a cat and a spaceship, he just lives around without much faith in life.
Other Noteworthy Facts: He is called the "drunk space traveller" by many people across the galaxies.
He has a white fluffy cat he fondly calls a space cat (he didn't pick it up on Earth) that follows him everywhere he goes. The cat is called Enjolras. Enjolras generally sits on his lap or scarfs himself around Roy's neck.
He makes flower crowns when he's bored, but only puts them on people's heads when they're his friends. He generally makes the plants grow beside him so he doesn't have to go outside to get some.
He always carries a flask full of water with him. When there's no water left, he fills it up again when he stops on a planet or pit stop.
Storyline Specific Information: None
Knight Information
Knight Name: Knight Dionysus
Realm of Influence(s): Nature, Earth, Growth
Henshin/Transformation Phrase: None. He simply transforms without a word. (
"For the sake of Apollon I lend my power" was the phrase, but since he doesn't have someone's sake to protect anymore he just doesn't bother with it ).
Senshi Fuku: He wears a green with a silver trim belt over a white greek toga. He wears sandals that are laced up to just below his knee (the lacing disappearing under his toga). The fabric falls just below his shoulders and he has silver bracelets around his biceps. A smaller belt, that carries his sword, stands in the middle of the larger belt. He doesn't wear any armor. It's an easy uniform to fight with.
Powers: Frenzy: He taps into the less inhibited part of people to force them to party. He usually uses this power to distract enemies, but he does use it sometimes just to mock someone.
Not permanent.
Dementia: Like with Frenzy, he taps into people's minds, but instead of making them party, it's to break someone's sanity. The victims can get violent and dangerous to anyone around (including Dionysus himself).
Not permanent.
Nature Protection: A nearby tree's roots engulf him and make him enter the tronc of the tree, hiding him there until he asks to be released or the danger is gone.
He has trouble getting out of it when drunk. And there has to be a tree nearby.Space Travel: Dionysus doesn't have any wings, but he can levitate and breathe in space. Only in his knight form, however. Otherwise, he needs his spaceship.
"Animate Earth!": As Dionysus unsheaths his sword, he concentrates and the ground starts trembling. He raises the sword above his head and when he slams it through the ground. He can control the cracks it forms to direct them toward an enemy or more than one if they are all closely grouped together.
This attack can touch allies and himself if he's drunk. This attack also can be called on without the sword, but Dionysus likes the dramatic.
Weapons or Magical Items: Dionysus Sword: His Knight Sword that came with still having his knight form. It's generally placed at his belt.
Dionysus Staff: Summon. He usually uses this weapon when he wants to knock out enemies instead of killing them.
Guardian: None
RP Sample:- Don't drink and drive kids:
He glanced around him in the moment of silence that was currently stretching beyond comfortable as he tried to calculate whether or not he could run to the door without having to fight. He had offended someone, again, though if he was honest with himself, that man deserved all the trash talk he could come up with. Not that deserving really mattered when said man was as drunk - maybe less actually - as him and equally angry. Roy just wanted one evening without sensitive morons.
Maybe bars shouldn't be his favorite places to hang out then.
He downed what was left of his glass and slowly got up, knowing that what was coming was unavoidable. A fight would break out and he would get out of it with bruises and sensitive ribs. With some luck he wouldn't die from a simple bar fight. It was embarrassing when he did.
"Now, now, gentlemen... surely we can talk about this. As adults?"
His own immaturity put aside anyway...
Talking, however, was not part of the plan and Roy found himself fighting his way out. At the end, he staggered out of the bar with a hiss and didn't resist when he was kicked on the ground. He turned on his back to watch his opponent, but the man simply spat on him before going back inside.
Well... could've been worse.
He grunted while standing back on his feet, ribs indeed hurting and legs slightly protesting against his weight considering how little he'd ate earlier. With a sigh, he slowly walked back to the landing field of his spaceship, greeted by a severe looking cat that watched him as he approached. Once near the gates, he looked down at Enjolras, sighing at the reproach he could read in his eyes.
"I swear, the other guy looks worse." He lied before embarking, soon followed by the white ball of fluff. Undressing, he looked himself over in a mirror then fell on his bed with a wince of pain. He would make sure there weren't any gash to disinfect in the morning. Now he was too tired to do anything.
