So I just got around to finishing Persona 3 this week on my PS2 after a long 4 or so months picking at it, and I was wondering if anyone else played this series at all or is interested in getting into it. I'm gonna be working on completing my half play-through of Persona 4 this summer, and Persona 5 just got a fancy new trailer and Japanese release date for September this year. ^^

Aaaaaa I really want to play this series but I've never had any playstation system. If they end up being ported to steam/PC, you can guarantee I will be playing them.

XD I think Atlus is super adamant about this not coming to PC at any point (as far as I know), mostly because Persona is starting to sell consoles so well, though there are certainly PS2 and vita emulators out there that run them well.
I happened to own an old PS2, so I bought Persona 3 and 4 on disc for about 15 bucks each. I'm honestly looking into buying a PS4 just for Persona 5 and a few other games though.

How do you know they're refusing to PC-port these games? Was there an article or something? Plz don't destroy my hope like this

I don't think there's exactly one article saying it, but Atlus is just a smaller gaming company, and that makes it difficult to risk the money by porting games to PC. It's still possible in the future, but I'm not expecting it to happen soon because they've been refusing to do it for years now.
I can see Sony not wanting it either because it might affect Playstation system sales. But like I said, lots of cheap ways to get into the Persona series other than the latest one.

So how close does the anime follow? Or did they remove quite a bit of necessary content, like themes and certain character development/character traits?

Not sure which anime you mean. The Persona 3 anime is a series of 4 movies (Not sure if the last one is subbed yet), and they're fairly plot accurate overall and add some extra bits of character interaction and personality.
The Persona 4 Anime series is also plot accurate, and the Golden series covers some added material from Persona 4's PS Vita re-release, including the extra character and the best ending. If you wanna watch, I'd start with the original anime series first, and then Golden.
Honestly, the only stuff that really gets cut out is a lot of the optional social links from the game, though they do add depth to the side characters you only see for a short time in the animes.

I love Persona!
A friend got me hooked when I watched her play Persona 3 years ago and I actually ended up buying a PS2 just to play it myself. Persona 4 is amazing as well. I also bought both ports for PSP/Vita when they came out. I'll be buying a PS4 in the near future for P5 (and the last Uncharted but I digress). I've also played P1 and 2 but I honestly didn't like them as much as the later ones.

Yeah, Persona 1 and 2 had a very different feel to them, so it's understandable that people might not like them as much. They have a harder difficulty curve on them too, I think.
I'm currently stuck on Persona 4 (the old ps2 version) on the 4th dungeon boss, and a friend of mine has Golden version, and the difference between the two is nuts when I compared our runs. Golden really does clean up some mechanics and make a lot of the fights way less of a struggle. I think it even added weaknesses to the first two big bosses that weren't there in the original.
Game spoilers:
Shadow Kanji was super rough for me because there was no way to knock him down at all and he kept getting free heals. XD Shadow Mitsuo is worse though.
