Appearance: Haruka is 5 foot 9 inches and has blonde hair in a boycut and has dark navy eyes. She often dresses in casual male clothing, most often jeans and a graphic t-shirt having to do with one of her races or race-tours that happened before she enlisted to fight the Kaiju. If she is required to dress formally, she will wear a tuxedo instead of a dress.  


Personality: Haruka is rather foul mouthed, but is incredibly loyal and protective. She tends to flirt with any woman who comes onto the grounds, reporters, newcomers, anybody. She is an extremely rash individual, and often acts and judges harshly without thinking of how her actions would affect others, and comes off cold and distant to those she doesn’t trust. If Haruka doesn’t trust you, you’ll know it. She is a walking definition of a hit first, ask questions later type of person, but tends to get jealous and sulks easily.

She has been in a loving relationship with Michiru Kaioh for years. Michiru is the single person that Haruka trusts with her life, and trusts her wholeheartedly. Michiru is often the only one who can get her flustered, and tends to see a gentler, more bashful side of her. Once she decided to become a pilot, she was incredibly happy that Michiru decided to become a pilot along side her. Haruka takes her training as a pilot very seriously, and is willing to take drastic and extreme action to be sure that whatever mission she and Michiru are sent on succeeds.

Because of the destruction caused by the Kaiju that prevented her career as a racer from taking off, Haruka despises the Kaiju with a passion; and idolizes the jager and every aspect of it. She is ready to do anything and everything to be sure the Kaiju she and Michiru are fighting doesn’t get past them alive.
Haruka is an incredibly athletic individual. In school, she was part of track and karate clubs. She was just ready to begin her first race as a professional race car driver before the kaiju attack.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: She’s good at hand to hand combat, running/sprinting for distance, some driving/racing experience.


History: Haruka grew up with just her father and brother, in an average middle-class upbringing. Though there was some internal and external conflicts of growing up without a mother, her childhood was quite happy. Her older brother and father were extraordinarily supportive and encouraging of her hobbies, and didn’t mind that she was into the more masculine of hobbies. Haruka had wanted to be a race car driver all throughout her life-and had no problems with clubs in high school. She became quite popular, and it was through that popularity that she met the love of her life, Michiru Kaioh, her first and only love.  With graduation swiftly approaching and her first race as a professional race car driver right around the bend, Haruka’s life was perfect.

Unfortunately, her career as a race car driver would never come to light. Right before their graduation, the first of the Kaiju appeared and attacked the United States. The world as she knew it was changed forever. Japan was one of the most prepared countries when it came to building a counter-measure due to their advances in technology; and soon Haruka found herself swept up in the popular culture that surrounded the Jagers and their pilots. Forget race car driving for a rush, imagine the feeling it must be taking down something responsible for the destruction of their lives! Haruka was a bit more willing to let go of her childhood dream as a race car driver then she let on-in her mind, saving the world was the best type of job you could have. And the fame surrounding it? It made a race car driver look like a waiter! Haruka didn’t enlist because of the fame, however. Saving the world against the Kaiju menace would be satisfactory enough. They later enrolled in the same university and the Japanese Pacific Defense Corps arrived and tested students to see if any had potential to becoming a ranger. Haruka was beyond delighted when she was one of those who met the criteria, and even happier when Michiru told her that she had bet the criteria as well. It would be so exciting! Just her and Michiru, fighting off the forces of extreme evil to defend their planet! Michiru seemed reluctant at first, which was strange-but she later signed up to become a pilot alongside Haruka.

Haruka and Michiru got high marks, and the recruiter was pleased to have them join the PDC to train in the Tokyo Shatterdome. This would begin a new part of Haruka’s life-a greater part in which she would fight the terrors that threatened the planet and everyday life as she knew it.

But she would be fighting them all with her beloved Michiru at her side.

Storyline Specific Information:
Concordia - Five years ago, colossal monsters identified as Kaiju have risen from an interdimensional rift in a crevice beneath the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a war that takes millions of lives and quickly consumes humanity's resources.
 
Following the first four Kaiju attacks in San Francisco, Manila, Cabo and Sydney, a conference between all leaders of the world was called. The meeting resulted in the idea of to combat the monsters, by designing a special type of weapon; massive mechs known as Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge (it was discovered during early trials that the mental strain of controlling a Jaeger alone would overwhelm a single pilot). 
 
The Pan Pacific Defense Corps was founded sometime later by the United Nations. The Defense Corps represents an international alliance of twenty-one countries across the Pacific Rim, bound together by the shared goal of containing, combating and eliminating the Kaiju with the Jaeger Program.
 
This year, a new group of trainee pilots (also called Rangers) are starting their training in the Tokyo Shatterdome, and must learn to work together with each other as well as finding their ‘other half’ if they ever hope to become a real Ranger.

Haruka felt her heart stop as soon as she placed her bags down. There it was-the dome she had always heard about in the news. She left Michiru's side for just a moment, taking a single step forward to drink it all in. She inhaled and exhaled, a smile crossing her face. Turning back to Michiru, she gestured to their new home with an enthusiastic wave of her arm.

"Will you look at this, Michiru!"She beamed, turning back around to look at the dome once more. Walking backwards, she almost fell over as she returned back to her lovers side. "We're here." She places an arm on Michiru's holders, and sighs happily.

"We're finally here. After all that hard work, we're finally here."

She takes Michiru's arm and kisses her hand before tightly squeezing it in both hands.

"With the two of us? Those bastards don't stand a chance."
