This is the sister thread to the wig thread.
(This thread was merged with the old one about Sailor Moon costumes with permission).

For those who do not sew, I prefer not to give online shop for Sailor Moon costumes simply because I never ordered from any, but if you have and received a good service, please do share with us~

I'll add links as we go and find stuff. (All the links should lead to the accounts / correct page of the tutorial makers. If you find one that is not the case, tell me and I'll go seek for the correct source).

About tutorials:
Not all tutorials are good for everyone. Sometimes you have to look at many tutorials for the result to satisfy you. It's all about trying, making mistakes and improving your skills.
About costumes:
When making a costume, if you look for "perfect accuracy" (perfection doesn't exist), using only one picture of reference is not recommended.
About colors:
This is usually the tricky part. Since many pictures can have different colors, I think checking on other cosplayers to see which colors come back the most could be a good idea.

[Quick note about patterns: they often are nothing more than baseline for costumes because characters are known to have fairly weird or uncommon clothing designs. But these can be considered bases for the Sailors' leotards]

• Someone deconstructed many of Usagi's costumes. It can help you know how many parts her costumes have.
  
• PGSM only. If you click on a character, some of them have a link called [Character] Costume Breakdown. It can be helpful.
  
• I would recommend you find yourself a copy of the Materials Collection as there is a lot of details about the costumes that can help any cosplayer.

I'm happy there's so many great tutorials out there to help out fellow moonies and cosplayers!  I'm especially loving Kapalaka's tiara tutorial, hadn't seen it before!

I found a tutorial a while back I just don't remember where, but it said to get the skating dress patten for the basic fukus. I think you can order them off line. I'll look for it again.

I used the Green Pepper "517 Crystal Lake Skating Outfit" pattern for mine. It already has the v-shape for the skirt and everything.

Ok so I was looking around the net and i found these people. They seem to have some great wigs that aren't too badly priced! I believe i'll be getting a couple from them.

^ Oh, maybe a general resource thread? Post our favorite patterns, and places to get supplies (wigs, fabric, etc)

I was going to do that also.

I was going to post one for patterns and one for buying supplies or should I put it all in one?

Just a reminder to always use the appropriate cosplay tags here when making a topic. I've already edited the tags in your original post for you. 

Simplicity has an actual "Sailor Moon" pattern (not named SM, but the model is obviously supposed to be her) under the costumes category. I'm at work right now but can try to find the pattern number when I go to the sewing store on Tuesday (assuming I remember to look).

@Sailor Mars: I'm sorry, I forgot to tag this one x) thank you. I'll be more careful next time.
@Andalusite: Pattern added. I don't know how accurate this pattern is, but I know we wanted to get it at least to know how they were doing the 'sleeves' and roll-up belt for the skirt.
