| What was it about Sailor Moon (of any incarnation) that appealed to you when you first saw it? What made you want to stick to it?
One of my favorite things when I was a kid was astronomy and different planets in the Solar System, so when I saw a show with superheroes with names of the planets I wanted to see more and I became hooked on it and loved it ever since.
On a smaller scale, another thing for me was color schemes. I liked that the superheores had different dominating colors in there costumes (it's also kinda what drew me to Power Rangers, which eventually drew me to Super Sentai).

| What really captured my attention was the transforming. They were normal girls, but they could use magical powers. The animations for the transformations and attacks entranced me when I was a kid. I wished I could do that. Still do--where is my talking guardian animal? |

| So, I accidently came across Sailor Moon when it was aired on a German channel. And actually - I know, booooring xD - it was the plot (and the characters, of course) that aroused my interest for the show.
Well, I have to say...the Outers made it even more interesting for me xD |

| I became interested in Sailor Moon not long ago, but I remember when they were first on TV in the mid 90s...wasn't too thrilled with the original version (English dub), then came the later editions and I got to watch them in Japanese online. What drew me to Sailor Moon is a tale of a cast of beautiful teenage female superheroes named for planets, and they're able to defend themselves and save the day. |

| I don't remember what drew me into Sailor Moon. I remember that it was showing on Cartoon Network at the time-but that's all that I remember. Whatever drew me in, kept me in! Maybe it was the transformations-but I really don't remember. Maybe it was the friendships that were shown(I didn't have any friends when it aired). |

| I think for me, and I'm sure a lot of girls!, the thing that drew me into the Sailor Moon world was the female characters. I love superheroes, but you don't see tooooo many female ones. It was nice to see a dominantly female cast which lead normal teenage lives, but fought evil things! I looked up to them because in some shows and games, at least more so back then, it seemed girls were portrayed as being weak and needing saved by a guy (Mario anyone?), but they didn't really need saving, they could save theirselves (for the most part =P) Made me want to be one of them and wished that one day I would xD |

| I have to agree with Diana here. For me it was the whole idea of these ordinary teenage girls who turned into superheros to save the world from evil. I always loved superheros growing up as a kid but you rarely saw any female superheros or if they were there, they never got as much screentime as the guys. Even today in modern times female superheros are still a rare thing, especially a show devoted entirely to them. Like you might get an concessional side character like Black Widow in The Avengers or that girl from Guardians of the Galaxy but superhero movies for women is still a rarity and I think it's important to have such powerful and inspiring role models for kids. I also really liked that Usagi actually was an ordinary kid who happened to discover she has superpowers. It seems like in so many comic books, the main character is not really all that normal to begin with and it makes it harder to relate to them to me. Like Batman you have Bruce Wayne was a powerful rich guy even before becoming Batman, Superman is an alien from another planet who has incredible strength and can never get hurt expect for Krypotnite, and the main guy in Iron Man is another powerful rich kid. With Sailor Moon though, Usagi was an ordinary kid dealing with ordinary problems like trying to pass her exams, hanging out with her friends at the arcade, and finding a boyfriend or something like that. It made her a character you could more easily relate to for me and I always liked that aspect. Oh, and also the animation style. Like nowadays I've seen tons of anime so I'm used to the Japanese animation style by now but at the time, Sailor Moon was one of my first anime shows and so the style was something very unique to me and really caught my attention and I still love the art in Sailor Moon to this day. |

| I was 6 when I first starting watching so I'm not even sure. No idea how I even came across it on television. My guess would be that since I've always been attracted to strong female characters that even as a child it was still nested inside me. Sailor Moon has just always been apart of my life and I don't know how to live without it. |

| Ohhh there's so much I like about it. First of all: Superpowers/ magic. I love anything that has to do with fantasy and magic, especially element-based powers. I also loved the costumes (started with PGSM, but Myu is my favorite version visually). Skirts, bows, Sailor collars and lots of glitter and jewellry! And of course, the story and characters. The cast is so loveable and the story is wonderfully mystical and captivating. |

| Who doesn't want to watch a group of gorgeous girls with magical powers fight enemies??? I was also very drawn to Usagi's "damsel in distress" moments where she was saved by Tuxedo Mask. I've always been a sucker for those types of things. I'm a hopeless romantic, so Sailor Moon's romance moments were always exciting to me Plus the OUTERS. |

| I first saw it when it aired here in 1996 and what caught my attention was the zaniness of the protagonist and the animation contrasted with how scary the Dark Kingdom seemed at the time (I was 9 then), giving it an unique feel. That and the awesome designs of the fukus that definitely gave the anime it's own identidy. |

| I thought it was ironic how Usagi and Mamoru 'hated' each other, but were kinda infatuated with their alter egos so I basically wanted to see their reactions. This shipping drew me.
And Tuxedo Dork drew me too. I'm one of those fans who finds the roses very romantic. I think its romantic that shes new to fighting, and a hot guy in formal wear throws roses and says poetic encouraging speeches, and even whisks her away sometimes. I ALWAYS GOT JEALOUS! |

| I think what I liked about it as a kid was, like others have mentioned, it was about a group of seemingly normal teenage girls with these awesome powers. I also liked that Usagi especially wasn't good at it right away. Then when we learned she was a reincarnated Princess, my mind was pretty much blown, haha. I remember wishing that would be me when I turned fourteen.
Unfortunately, it was not.
I also loved Mamoru / Tuxedo Kamen and the cheesy lines. Sure, they make me cringe now, but at the time I thought they were great.
The colours of the show, and the fact that the theme song was just so catchy also helped drawn me in. |

| I was really young when I first watched Sailor Moon when the dub originally aired in North America. What drew me back a few years later is I had gone to a anime convention and gone to a magical girl anime/manga panel. That really got me back into really watching anime again, especially magical girls. I remember Sailor Moon kept coming up a lot and I remember loving it as a child. I decided a few months later after I had gone through other suggestions like W.I.T.C.H, and getting side track by Hetalia. I tried to watch the dub and I couldn't. I just hated Serena. By this time, I was familiar with anime subs, so that's what I went to go find! There was just something about the friendship and it being female characters that really kept me in, despite how much Usagi annoyed me at times. Shortly after I started re-watching Sailor Moon, I found GC |

| Part of a deal, really. One of my friends watched Dragon Ball Z so she could talk about it with the rest of us, so I decided to pick up Sailor Moon. I think I got the better part of the trade.
As for what actually kept me? The character stuff, really. |

| Hm. I'd have to say it was the manga that got me. I saw it on the shelves ages ago and from the moment I picked up the first one I just couldn't stop. Then when my dad bought our first home computer and we got the internet that was it. I found other fans and discovered the 90's anime and the rest is history. I remember sneaking into the computer room at night and putting a pillow over the computer to muffle the sounds of the dialup connection, and would spend hours upon hours into the morning looking at everything SM related.

| I loved how dynamic the characters are, the powers being both elemental and magical, the color-coding of the fukus, the also dynamic villains, the dire straits at the end of each season. I was young enough that the awfulness of the DiC dub didn't bother me, but when the Cloverway dub came out, I made it a priority to watch it every week. When the Outers appeared, it fulfilled my sense of completeness once there was a senshi for each planet. |

| The fact that it was a magical girl.Even though i knew that Sailor Moon existed, it wasn't until i read an interview where Iginio Straffi (creator of Winx Club) said that certain elements in the show (Stella's personality for example) were inspired off Sailor Moon. So i was all like "k This Sailor Moon must be cool then". Then certain lifey stuff happened and i didn't get around to watching it until July 2013. I saw the second episode of the dub and was all like "OH MY GLOBZ THIS IS AMAZING" and i was hooked on the show. To make it seem like i was watching it on a TV i would download one episode each day and watch it after school (on weekends i downloaded 2). By December i had finished Classic-S and stomached as many SuperS episodes as i could take. I had started watching the original japanese April last year after i saw a comparison video on youtube and how much the dub ruined the show. |

| I found Sailor Moon on Toonami at a very difficult time in my life. on top of having no friends, i was being endlessly bullied. kids on the bus, kids in my neighborhood, kids in my grade...
when you're born with a people-loving personality, it's really hard to go through your whole childhood being bullied and ostracized, so my personality was starting to be warped. i was withdrawn and depressed and basically acting like Sadness when I'm supposed to be Joy (inside out. SO GOOD)
but then I found Sailor Moon, and it was like hope. hope that I wouldn't be alone forever, that I could become someone amazing, that I could have a group of friends that I love and love me back and we're always there for each other. it saw me through middle school and I'm always grateful for that.
(I met the old dub cast at AX 2014 and started telling them about that and immediately started blubbing HAHAHA... but old moon and mars hugged me!) |

| I was like... five or six when I first saw it, so it was probably the action scenes and all the bright colors that drew me to it.
I was also a huge fan of Power Rangers at that age. Since Sailor Moon was partially inspired by Super Sentai, I assume something clicked. |

| I think my reasons are similar to many people. I recall seeing it when i was really young, maybe back in like 95 or so? Before it aired on Toonami. But i only got hooked when it aired on Toonami. I loved the transformations! And the story and girls as super heroes. And princesses and princes! It was like such a good mix of action and girly things. xD On one of my birthdays ( i think 12th), when i blew out the candles, i wished i could be like Princess Serenity/Sailor Moon (and from that day on i became really clumsy. Or at least...my clumsyness stuck out more xD). So for me, my initial draw was from the anime, its cool transformations and girls as superheroes. From there I found the manga and just kept falling more in love with the series. And lets not even get started on PGSM and Myu. I'll derail this topic so hard we'll need to call 911. |

| I am really into astrology, so seeing how the senshi fit in with their ruling planets was cool. Also, I liked the Mamoru/Usagi ship. And later, it was S that really got me hooked, with the Outer Senshi and the darker plot line. |

| For me, it was a couple things in combination/in the same TV show that most drew me in and hooked me. This was back in the late 90s when the English dub was being shown on Cartoon Network.
One such thing was the fact that the show was about female superheroes. I had never seen, or even heard of, such a show at the time (even though I was in my late-20s at the time), so I wanted to see how the plot of such a story developed.
The other thing that most drew me in and hooked me was the fact that it was about ordinary teenagers. I was in my late-20s at the time, and because my adult life (basically the part since graduating with my bachelor's degree) had already turned bad for me, I had developed a fantasy dream that I could return to my teenage years and remain a teenager forever, because I had realized that my teenage years were the best years of my life. Then I saw commercials for this TV show called Sailor Moon that was all about teenagers, and I immediately wanted to start watching it, and soon continue watching it. |
