| I was going through the art book scans I have saved over the years and noticed a trend and was wondering if anyone else realized this. In just about every picture the inner scouts are drawn alongside an outer scout everyone's face looks more mature. But when the pictures consists of just the inner scouts they seem to look younger and more kiddish. Anyone else see this? Do you think she was unconsciously doing this or on purpose? If on purpose...why? Young looking... Older looking... Younger... Older... I mean, I guess the only thing that is differently drawn is the eyes...but I feel like it's something else too. Body language? Maybe? I dunno...am I seeing things? |

| Oh goodness I definitely see it from those drawings.
I'll bet that Naoko Takeuchi can't help but draw the outer senshi as mature, elegant and graceful and I guess that spills onto the inner senshi? It would look odd if the inner senshi looked innocent and young juxtaposed to the mature eyes half-closed outer senshi XD
edit: I think its something to do with the length of the eyelashes |

| Do you think it could just be Naoko's way of showing that the inners are growing up? ^^' I have no idea which artbooks these came out of, but when they meet Pluto they're all in 9th grade, a year older than when they were when they first transformed, and S starts a year after that - they'd all be almost sixteen when Uranus and Neptune join them, and into high school when the Dead Moon Circus comes around, and waay into high school when Stars happens... |

| I think these images are being shown out of order and that the girls looked younger in the beginning and matured as the years progressed. If you look at the manga, Naoko's drawing style changes considerably. Everyone has wider faces and bigger eyes and by the Super S and Stars, their faces mature and become slender with wiser and calmer eyes. Mamoru and Usagi especially go through a very noticeable change. I love it very much, really. They become so elegant and beautiful in their age and growth as individuals. |

| I think that Naoko started making the senshi look older as the manga progressed. The Outers were introduced, in the timeline of the series, a year later, making the senshi age considerably in their physical and mental capability. I mean, even when you look at the consider about of "childish" features that are shown with the very first manga drawings to the end of the series, there are several ways that she makes them look older. It's more of a chronological progression rather than one group shot looking older than the other. |

I kinda agree with this one.. it seems that they were growing up. Naoko style changes later on, her drawings got better with all those mangas she was drawing. |

Yes, her style definitely changes and I love it. Sometimes mangaka change their style and it just does not work. It looks like they are changing out of laziness (not being as detailed) but sometimes you can see a maturity in their artistic growth and it is also beneficial to the characters: seeing them grow as well. I love the way Mamoru changes! The man is just gorgeous, I cannot even deny. |

| I think it's both the fact that the characters are getting older and the Outer Senshi are more mature. As the series progresses The scouts get older and each of them matures in different ways. I think that's why the art looks like it does. |
