Rashiku Ikimasho - I'll Go With My Looks
Rashiku Ikimasho, translated as "I'll Go with My Looks" (seems to be the standard of most websites when I do searches for it), is the 2nd ending theme song to the fourth season of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. The lyrics were written by Naoko Takeuchi and the song was performed by Meu. Rashiku Ikimasho is a fun, upbeat song with a 80s pop feel to it. It instantly puts you in a cheerful mood and I find makes you feel like you can go out and take on the world! Lol It's probably one of my favorite songs from the series. Never give up!
I could find very little on Meu, except for what was on this website: http://www.last.fm/music/Meu
Meu apparently consists of Kajitani Miyuki. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=7328 has just a little bit more about her.
http://www.generasia.com/wiki/"Rashiku"_Ikimasho - I found this website translated Rashiku Ikimasho as "Let's Go "Unusual". I'd love to hear from the more knowledgeable in Japanese members to give me some input on this. ^_^

Lalala Never give up, keep on trying I'm betting it all on this game My heart is pounding with joy In the age of adolescence It's okay to rewrite What is in your loving profile
Listen, after school today, I saw that trickster It was love at first sight, he looks like my old flame Now my head is spinning, don't want to get hurt again What should I do? But I've decided now I want to toy with him for a while I can win his heart with my sailor suit, I'll go with my looks
Lalala Never give up, keep on trying Now this time it's up to me My heart is pounding so fast In the age of adolescence, it's okay to rewrite What is in your loving profile
Listen, over the weekend, I was walking along And I met an older man. I can have it both ways I've come to the point, and I feel reasonable What can I do, with this pain inside I wonder if I can abandon it I can win his heart with my sailor suit I will bet on this game
Lalala When I find myself wanting to cry, I ring my pocket bell And read. The rest for a soldier In the age of adolescence It's okay to rewrite What is in your fighting profile
Lalala Never give up, keep on trying I'm betting it all on this game My heart is pounding with joy In the age of adolescence It's okay to rewrite What is in your loving profile

This is actually, of all the ending songs form the anime. My least favourite X3
I always felt "Rashiku" Ikimasho never fit the part of the season it was in... I think Watashitachi ni Naritakute and it should have been switched around. Its still overall a good song though, just not up to the same level as "Tuxedo Mirage" and the like. :3

I've never really thought about it, but that totally makes sense! Its one of my fav endings because its so upbeat, but I really enjoy upbeat pop sounding stuff. ^^ Plus I've always like the animation behind it.
I love the credit sequence too ^^ I just felt that it was more suitable for the Amazon Trio arc with all their ridiculous nonsense rather than the slightly more serious later last episodes... I felt it wrecked some of the final episodes of SuperS
*dramatic magical suspenseful music as Nehellenia takes hold of the Golden Crystal and makes her invasion on Tokyo*
LA LA LA NEVER GIVE UP! GANBARU WA*

Omg I LOVE THIS SONG. Rashiku Ikimasho is in my TOP 2. I'm so glad I found this thread because it REALLY needs some more love!
Everything about it, the message, animation and colors and upbeat tempo made this song one of my favorites.
Also when you look at the lyrics, notice something....
What should I do? But I've decided now I want to toy with him for a while I can win his heart with my sailor suit, I'll go with my looks
Okay obviously the song is about Chibiusa, but I also think that it really talks about the Sailor Senshi aging in general. I mean when you look at the animation of the ending sequence, everyone looks older, more refined, more connected than when they first met, including Chibiusa.
Also, as for "happy" songs at the end of serious episodes, I tend to lean more to that, rather than some slow heartwrenching song, after I've seen something SLOW AND HEARTWRENCHING, and that goes for all anime.
One example that comes clear in my mind is Clannad After Story. I won't give it away, but at the end of each episode, there is this super upbeat song that I absolutely love. However, the episodes at the end of the series will seriously kill your heart. Many critics complain that the ending sequence "ruins the mood."
I think otherwise, actually! Music that's happy and good to the ear can actually raise endorphins and make you feel better about a situation. Now I don't know a person who doesn't want to feel better. haha.
So, that's just my take on Rashiku Ikimasho! Because who doesn't love an upbeat song about Chibiusa!

I like this song! This and Princess Moon are my favorite ending themes. ^^

The whole fandom apparently. xD No one loves Chibi Usa, poor chibi Usa.
You know what's HILARIOUS? Chibiusa is hated here in the States, but she's been polled in Japan as one of the most popular and likable characters.
haha

You can blame the dub for that. :/
I wouldn't blame them. The first VA for Chibiusa was annoying and made her a sound like an unlikeable, total brat, her 2nd VA was absolutely adorable and I really liked her, but by that point the damage had already been done, and SuperS most certainly didn't help.

I think that the cheerfulness fits the season also; the lyrics are kind of weird though.

Chibiusa was popular in the Sailor Moon manga polls for characters; she didn't get as annoying as she did in the anime, and was also pretty awesome, so that isn't surprising. Still, it is interesting, since the anime was supposedly aimed at a demographic that was younger than the manga's, yet she was more popular in the latter version of Sailor Moon.
Back on the thread topic, this song was probably one of the favorite parts of SuperS for me.

Man, thanks for the bump nm! I had no idea we had song dedication threads!
As for the song, It's always been one of my favorite endings. The vocals are just so cute! It may have been one of the first sailor moon ending themes I was exposed to-we had two or three uncut VHS tapes back in the day, and this theme was on two of the three of them.

Another great ending song. As a matter of fact I don't think there isn't any ending song in the 90s anime that isn't good. Loved when they had this one blaring over the radio during the beach ep of SuperS.
Also I'm also surprised no one has posted the informative-as-always Tuxedo Unmasked article on this song here yet. Then allow me.

Haha you beat me to it, Spike XD. As always for lyrics, context is everything! The whole "profile" thing is so nostalgic though, eh?
This is definitely one of my favorites as well. I'm also a sucker for upbeat anime tunes and I love the singer's voice. It's really well-suited to the key and the energy of the song overall. Like Brit-chan's old comments I didn't really care to know the meaning of the full lyrics for a long time, and just kind of assumed it was a whole song about "NEEHHBAAAH GIBUP! GANBARU WA!" ^^;;;. So I did also experience that feeling of cheering on the Senshi - especially if I was binge-watching it XD.
As for the observation that it doesn't fit the later part of the season, I tend to agree now. It almost seems very AU in a way... On the other hand, if there were just a few extra moments of silence after the tragic end of the episode(s), before the music plays then I could see it being less jarring. Also, I can see the point of view of another earlier comment that it is *desirable* to lift the mood instead of leaving you in a pit of agony - especially if you're the young target audience of the show! But I still think a few beats extra of silence would have been helpful.
Also, a quick mod note...:
I've moved this thread to the SM Anime subforum from General. I hope that makes sense to everyone but of course PM me if not ^^.
